Full of bugs, no tutorial
I'm not saying it's a bad game... but if someone said it, I would totally agree with him. During my playtime, the game felt pretty meaningless, the engine of the truck was barely audible and I didn't like the upgrades either, how they were implemented. Or at least that is what I remember. But for example Zombie smasher is a similar one, but cheaper and definitely more enjoyable.
Highway Cleaners, developed and published by Voxel Bytes, is a fast-paced vehicular action game that builds its identity around chaos, speed, and survival. It places players in a hostile, post-apocalyptic environment where the road itself becomes both a battleground and a lifeline, blending elements of arcade driving with combat-focused gameplay. Rather than following the structure of a traditional racing game, it shifts the focus toward endurance and destruction, creating an experience that is driven more by momentum than by precision. The core gameplay loop revolves around navigating dangerous highways while fending off waves of enemies and avoiding environmental hazards. Players control a weaponized vehicle, constantly balancing movement with offensive action as threats approach from multiple directions. The game encourages an aggressive playstyle, rewarding players who stay in motion and actively engage enemies rather than attempting to avoid conflict. This creates a sense of urgency that defines the experience, as every moment requires attention and quick reactions. Combat is integrated directly into the driving mechanics, making it a central part of how the game unfolds. Weapons are designed to feel impactful, allowing players to clear paths and manage incoming threats while maintaining control of their vehicle. The combination of movement and combat creates a dynamic flow, where positioning becomes just as important as timing. However, while this system is engaging initially, it does not evolve significantly over time. Enemy types and behaviors remain relatively consistent, which can lead to a sense of repetition as players become more familiar with the patterns. Progression is structured around survival and gradual difficulty increases rather than narrative or systemic expansion. As players advance, encounters become more intense, requiring better control and faster decision-making. This escalation provides a clear sense of challenge, but it also highlights the game’s limited variety. The core mechanics remain largely unchanged throughout, meaning that long-term engagement relies more on mastering the existing systems than discovering new ones. For players who enjoy refining their skills, this can be rewarding, but others may find the experience lacking in depth. Visually, the game adopts a straightforward 3D style that prioritizes readability and performance over detail. The environments convey a sense of decay and danger, with broken roads and hostile surroundings reinforcing the post-apocalyptic theme. While the visual design supports the gameplay effectively, it does not offer much variation, and the overall presentation can feel somewhat uniform over time. Effects during combat add intensity, but they do not significantly elevate the visual experience beyond its functional purpose. One of the game’s strengths lies in its accessibility. The controls are easy to learn, and the gameplay loop is immediately understandable, making it approachable for a wide range of players. This simplicity allows for quick sessions, where players can jump in, experience the core mechanics, and step away without needing to commit to extended playtime. At the same time, this approach limits the complexity of the experience, as there are few systems to explore beyond the basics. Replayability is tied primarily to performance and endurance. Players are encouraged to improve their runs, survive longer, and refine their approach to increasingly difficult scenarios. While this provides a reason to return, the lack of additional modes or significant gameplay variations means that the experience can begin to feel repetitive after extended play. It works best as a game to be enjoyed in short bursts rather than long sessions. Ultimately, Highway Cleaners is a focused and energetic title that delivers a consistent blend of driving and combat within a simple framework. It succeeds in creating moments of intensity and excitement, particularly when its systems align and the gameplay flows smoothly. However, its limited depth and lack of variety prevent it from reaching a higher level of engagement. For players looking for straightforward, action-driven gameplay that can be enjoyed in quick sessions, it offers a solid and enjoyable experience, even if it doesn’t leave a lasting impression. Esta bueno, pero la optimizacion y que termine cuando el auto se rompe es una reverenda cagada, se cae a pedazos el juego
