Another wonderful HOG released by Nukearts Studio! After completing Christmas I decided to take a look at this one. The approach is the usual: find dozens of cats in a vibrant city with lots of famous places and pedestrians (and traffic at the bottom of the screen that is animated) while relaxing music is being played. As you complete smaller sections they become fully coloured so you know you can move on and deal with the rest of the monochrome areas. Your reward in the end will always be fireworks! Finding special cats (that give you a photo of a real-life pet) is a bonus but what makes the game interesting is the citizens you need to find. They are not hidden but they have to be clicked on in a specific order. The top of the screen shows you the cards (always 5) that you can interact with. Here, we do not need to find all of them just a couple of dozen. Past games wanted you to complete the city twice - there was an easier mode with fewer cats and citizens. What we have now is what was considered an advanced or harder mode back then. There is also an achievement that we can only obtain if no hints are used for finding everything. The hinting system, by the way, is interesting as it is a radar showing you the direction where you need to go first. You do not get an object highlighted immediately. Once the city is done, there are 6 more locations unlocked (most are indoors). These are smaller with fewer cats and people to click on. Some cats on these stages are truly hidden - clicking on certain objects make them suddenly appear (for example on the zipper of a purse or on a slightly worn-down roof tile). The aid feature is available but with limited numbers only. It's worth completing these stages in order to see the increased difficulty as there are more objects to find all the time. Eventually, a huge map (a market) becomes available with the most people to find. This is the last stage where zooming is truly an asset and perhaps this is the one you'll spend most of your time with. Istanbul is a great game and on par with the rest of the HOG released by this studio. In the latest game there is an achievement for not requesting assistance - this is available for each stage, here it was only added to the city level. This makes this game much easier but I liked that the stages menu uses a special icon to indicate if you completed a level without any help.
Where are those hidden cats this time? They're in Istanbul hiding between the shelves of the bazarres, smoking those weird pipe things, and frequenting the Turkish baths, among other places. There's lots of references to Turkey and Istanbul, with all the things you would expect, including some interesting architecture with a brief note of its history, so you can actually learn a bit more about Istanbul. Nukearts always do a decent job and this installment is no exception. There's around two hours of cats to find within the various scenes. There's a couple of larger scenes with 150 - 220 cats and six smaller scenes with 50 -110 cats to find. Each one has its own artwork and theme. Some of these scenes also include people to find so altogether there's a staggering 920 hidden objects to find altogether. Some scenes do not allow hints at all, and others reward you with two or three, so there is actually a limitation in the number of hints you can use and they do not recharge so once you've used them they're gone. They act a bit differently to other hidden object games and don't pin point an area for you but point you in the right direction until you are in the vicinity and then you need to search the area. I would class the game as being not too difficult, especially with the hints allowed, although there certainly were some difficult ones to find. It's not easy but it's not difficult either. It hits just about the right balance on difficulty because you will need to zoom in and scour the scene a few times to find the cats and they are often cleverly hidden. There are a few scenes which include interactive parts, like a cat hiding under a basket, and you need to find them too. Usually, there is an animation that gives them away like the basket shaking, but often these animated cats get themselves in some adorable trouble. There is a Turkish sounding soundtrack playing throughout and I found the scenes to be well drawn and interesting to look at. Nukearts have a great talent at making their art appear alive and full of life and you can imagine the scene in real life with characters going about their daily business but frozen in time.
🍳Conclusion🍳

You can't really fault Hidden Cats in Istanbul because it is another well made and professional looking hidden object game from Nukearts. The scenes were interesting to look at and the cats were well hidden among the artwork. Perhaps, it could have been a smidgen more difficult but honestly they've almost got it perfectly weighed between easy and hard and therefore should cater towards a wide demographic. If you are a seasoned cat finder or new to the genre, I am sure you will find enjoyment and relaxation in this title.

Thank you for reading my review.
Nukearts always gets a solid recommendation from me, their hidden object games are well made and fun to play, even if they are on the shorter side.
It's the usual Hidden Cats formula (hey, if it ain't broke....) and while the stock sfx are as repetitive and annoying as usual, the scene artwork and the effort put into both depicting and providing some information about Istanbul's cultural landmarks as well as the usual bevy of cute cat "cards" is very much appreciated. It's a wonderful palate cleanser between larger and/or more serious games, and if you either a) like cats or b) like hidden object style games/books ala where's Waldo, then you will be more than satisfied with this entry in the franchise. Recommended (although, obviously, YMMV)
I absolutely love the Hidden Cats games, and this one was no different! It is a very quick game, but it's so satisfying to finish each level. I will keep buying these games until I die or until you stop making them (oh, god, please don't stop making them!!)
全成就+1 這代開始~ 只有主地圖不能用提示,其他都可以~ 最後一關的人也變少相對容易許多~
This is probably one of the easier of their hidden cat games (in my opinion)! I didn't really struggle with any of the puzzles like I have on other ones. It was nice to have on while watching a YouTube vid in the background. :)
Hidden Cats in Istanbul is one of my favorite hidden cat games. Nukearts is one of my favorite hidden object game developers! Highly recommended
