Only a few minutes in, but it seems fun. The look is clean, the graphics crisp, minimal animation, but it is always easy to tell what is going on. The core game play is pretty much explained in the title, it is a puzzle game where you try to fit symbols into a hex grid with marked out areas so that no two of the same symbol are in the same area, column or row. It starts simply enough, and difficultly builds as you progress, as you would expect. The game implies that level design is an option, but I haven't delved into making one, or trying to find those made by others, which I assume is an option. If not, I will edit the review to let you know. The only thing I found fault with was the sound, as it has this reoccurring 'ding' that distracts me and makes me feel like it should mean something, but if it does I have no clue what. Clearly very minor, I didn't even care enough to turn off the sound. All in all, a nice, fun, simple puzzle offering, an easy thumbs up. ADDENDUM: I got about six hours in before I got frustrated and quit. At a certain point, empty hexes become a part of the puzzles, and I simply couldn't figure out how to deal with those. Irksome, but six hours wasn't bad, given I got this on a good sale.

I really enjoyed this game! The puzzles are fun and challenging, the music is soothing, and the game is very fun to play. Also, I really like the bonus level after completing all of the puzzles where you get to spell out a thank you message. I definitely recommend this game!
YES!!! RECOMMENDED!!! Btw, is the Developer of the game still alive?
This appears to be a Hexcells/Sudoku clone, but it has some issues. - The tutorial doesn't really explain the game (you need to think more like Sudoku) - The RMB helper overlay is not helpful. If you RMB on a tile you placed, you remove it, instead of highlighting the "paths" your tile blocks. Very annoying. Please, just let me draw!
"Hexdoku" is basically a failed for-profit ripoff of Sudoku, with two notable (but underwhelming) differences. Instead of a square 9x9 grid, you get an array of various hex layouts, and the numbers were swapped with symbols (if you think about it, the actual value of the numbers in Sudoku is irrelevant, all that matters is they are different from each other). The same rules as Sudoku apply, no doubling up in rows or groups, ho hum. It's a strange business model to try to compete with the back page of a newspaper for profit, but that's basically what this developer seriously tried to do. And, who could have seen it coming, failed abysmally. Here's another case where Itch failed. They have like, ONE job... to act as containment to prevent poorly made amateur shovelware from leaking out onto platforms where gamers might see them and lose hope in the gaming industry. But here we are. The participation trophies and hi-5's from the group hug weren't enough and some of the amateur drivel they're supposed to protect us from got out. While I couldn't find this on the mobile app stores, everything about it looks and feels like it's a mobile app designed for mobile phones... for PC gaming enthusiasts, it's not going to give you a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That alone is enough to disqualify this from any recommendation. We don't spend thousands building gaming rigs so that we can pretend they're iPhones and play iPhone games and mobile apps. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. This game is fairly dated at 5 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $5 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? What's the verdict? This is a "nope". While it won't necessarily cost you money, the time and hard drive space it requires could be better invested in one of the many higher-quality alternatives on Steam. You can play Sudoku for free on the web.
