W Devs. Go path of exile instead so you dont get raped every other day with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ patches. Slot machine everyday if your character is playable or not based on how the devs are feeling.
This game went from a kinda janky but fun time i would of recommened to people and now it is just a shop dressed up with the veneer of a game that use to be hero siege. I challenge you to find a screen in the game you can't find somewhere you can click that takes you to a purchase page. they are everywhere... Just about everything you would expect to be either given to you or granted through ingame progression is arbitrarily locked behind expensive paywalls. Think mobile gatcha levels of locking.
One patch your build works, then you go to sleep and your build doesn't work anymore. Thanks for wasting my time
At this state I don't recommend it. I am a player that played the game about 10 years or so ago. completely different game. Recently a huge update was released. The game nowadays looks and plays completely different, it is more of a diablo clone. There is no tutorial, no in-game info or guide. You are left watching youtube videos and asking AI chats about the game. There are many microtransactions in the game, buy to expand inventory space, buy new characters etc. I hope the devs will fix and improve the game in the future. Then I will update my review
Good base game, but the devs' mid-league balance decisions and overall immaturity are too much of a headache to recommend playing.
Before I say anything else, this is NOT a review bomb. I’m saying this purely as someone who has been playing ARPGs since Diablo 3. First of all, dear devs… what the hell is up with all these on-death effects?! 😂 Did you make an ARPG or a bullet hell game? And what’s with the difficulty gap between Nightmare and Hell? Everything in Nightmare gets obliterated in a fraction of a second, but then you take the exact same character into Hell and suddenly you need to spend TWO MINUTES killing a single rare mob. Also, there’s no crafting bench in the game, so how exactly am I supposed to keep both my resistances AND my DPS at a decent level at the same time? And the item drops… Nightmare is basically dead when it comes to loot. You just get a bunch of garbage Tier D and C items that are pretty much only good for salvaging. That’s it. I grinded this game for 60 hours straight. Sixty. F*cking. Hours. And I still couldn’t get a single decent drop that actually helped my build enough to continue progressing through Hell. To put those 60 hours into perspective: with 60 hours of grinding in PoE, I could probably put together a 100–500 Divine Orb build that can comfortably clear around 90% of the game’s content. And I wouldn’t just have decent DPS I’d have my resistances and block capped as well, with plenty of room to invest another 1,000 Divine Orbs into the build if I wanted to push it further. And seriously, why does my character get stuck on EVERYTHING?! Dude, my character’s f*cking toe got stuck on a corner. LMAO. Please, for the love of God, round off the corners of the objects on the maps so we don’t get stuck on every damn thing. The vendors in the Shadow Realm and Unstable Rift are also basically just selling a bunch of Tier D and C garbage. So, in short: if you want people to financially support the game more especially players like me who are actually willing to open their wallets these are the kinds of problems you need to address.
I gave the game a chance, really did. But honestly it lack severe polish. First off, if you're looking for a SSF ARPG, don't even bother, i've been in the endgame for 50 hours, i've only seen 1 Heroic gear drop and 1 Heroic rune drop after all my farm (who were useless btw) so your only choice to actually get to Inferno (last difficulty) is just through the Auction House. You literally make more progress from playing AH than playing the game... It lack polish, most the time some event (like shrine etc) spawn at a bad place and you can't do the event properly. You need to do quest for unlocking the 5th Relic slots, where you need to kill a uber boss (normal right ?) Well guess what, even if you kill the boss because you have said fragment from playing campaign or previous farming etc, you still need to farm them AGAIN for the quest to aknowledge you had enough to make the boss spawn. Like wtf ? I killed the boss, let me end the quest and get the reward already. If you aren't a meta character, don't even bother honestly. Build theory crafting is pretty much non-existant. Most of the time it's just teleport + 1 button attack/spell spam. Also like previously mentioned, most gameplay of classes is just teleport + 1 button spam. Genuinely boring. The graphics/audio of the game isn't a problem for let's say 20/30hrs of gameplay, but when you spend the game farming or doing the campaign 3 times over, you really can't find anything "charming" about it anymore. The jumping mechanic is fun (and what serve as a dodge basically), but is more of a problem most of the time from getting stuck (you can even get stuck INSIDE a boss...). Story is literally non-existant. I would recommend this game only for players that crave something that have a similar gameplay/loop to D2 and maybe PoE 1, who would play HS when doing a break of the 2 previous mentioned game to "relax". If you are a modern ARPG player (D4, PoE 2 etc...), or a SSF ARPG enjoyer (GD, LE etc...), look elsewhere. (Also, it's crazy but this game literally have the worst community in all the ARPG market lmao, even the devs are crazy on their Discord). Edit : I would like to add that the game would be tedious, or not that enjoyable on the first playthrough/season, because it's really not explained at all what to do or where to go first once you're in Endgame, but i can see it become more fun once you know how the game play and the mechanics/orders of things to do. (Basically do the coffee quest in Normal right at the beginning, then rush to Hell 1, pick the ring quest, then rush Hell 3 then Hell 5 asap somehow, pick the 5th relic slot quests, then back to Hell 1 for ring quest, then Hell 5 fifth relic slot quests/farm as needed and then Inferno). I MIGHT enjoy playing the game the next season or 2 now that i know what to do/where to go.
