Man I was super excited to get back into this but there are so many things wrong already. -Blacksmith armor prices are not correct. For example if the blacksmith says a piece of armor is 200 gold, I purchase it and it takes like 700 gold from my inventory. -When trying to equip the item it says "you need more str" and it doesn't show me anywhere exactly how much str I need, So I just end up dumping my points until I have enough which was like 50 out of my 70 available points at level 20. -I am currently stuck in the Aresden Church because every time I try to leave through the exit, the game acts like I'm entering and puts me right back in. I casually look to the bottom left of my screen and I see the location it say I'm in is "Aresian" church. At that point I logged out lol. I was really looking forward to playing this game, but now I'm afraid I have to leave disappointed.

This may not suit everyone, but it’s effective. Share your leveling strategies to support new players and grow the server as well. This launch feels a bit rough, and I’m glad I waited until the 25th to join. It’s still fun and much closer to classic HB. Oh yeah—some animations, like axe and shield, create weird black-out effects on your character. Creating food causes an obvious visual glitch, and Blizzard cannot be purchased at 195 INT as of the 27th. For those wondering about stone weight: when you click an item for purchase details, the displayed weight represents the STR required to wear it. For example, Platemail weighs 100 stone, meaning 100 STR is needed to equip it. The same applies to weapons; the STR requirement is shown in a range, such as 13~65, where 13 STR is needed to equip it, and 65 STR is needed for full swing speed. Your weapon will still swing at ¼ to ⅓ speed until you reach 50% proficiency. If you’re trying a new weapon type, buy the manual for it. DEX determines the maximum proficiency you can reach in that weapon—meaning if you have 20 DEX, your weapon proficiency will max out at 40% after extended use. While this server embraces a more classic style, with fewer level restrictions than many private servers (which, for example, lock Chainmail at level 60, despite its low 30 stone STR requirement), there are still some traditional level requirements. These are posted, such as: Knight Hauberk: Requires 100 DEX, level 70, and 12 STR to wear. With some reading, you'll be on track. Quick Examples: Staying in the Starting Area Before Choosing a Town Level 19 Mage Stats: 15 STR / 15 VIT / 44 INT / 30 MAG Early strategy: You’ll use physical attacks frequently to level up efficiently. Extra INT levels help early casting until magic proficiency improves. Gear up: Once you find the blacksmith, get Chainhose Legs, Leather Armor, and a Hauberk. Purchase Shield and Staff manuals from the shop. Spell Options: You can get Magic Missile, Recall, Create Food, and Energy Bolt, but realistically, keep using your dagger with any shield you find from slimes. Aim for level 30 before revisiting town for spell upgrades. Progression: Around level 30, you’ll likely have 15 STR / 15 VIT / 70 INT / 37 MAG. Your magic is still low, but you’re building a stout foundation. Use your staff to keep fighting until you reach at least 50% skill proficiency. Leveling strategy: Keep pumping points into Magic and burning all your mana using Magic Missile or Energy Bolt before switching back to Shield and Staff while regenerating mana. Repeat this process for about an hour fighting nothing more the scorpions. At ~120 Magic: Go buy new spells with the 70 INT you have had all along. At this point, you can use higher-tier attack spells with ~70% casting probability, such as Fire Strike and others. From here, level as you see fit. 112INT for greater magic protection and finally using Energy Strike at 100% cast is a great goal around level 80-100. Level 19 Warrior Stats: 30 STR / 20 VIT / 44 DEX Early strategy: Once you join a town, visit the blacksmith and buy Plate Legs, Hauberk, Chainmail, and a Tower Shield ASAP for better armor. Weapon progression: Keep using your dagger until you reach full swing strength for your preferred weapon type. Most common choices are axe, longsword, but hammer is a solid endgame option once your build is more balanced. Level 40 typical build: 65 STR / 40 VIT / 50 DEX Long-term progression: From here, round out stats as follows: DEX to 70, VIT to 50, then STR to 104. This unlocks the ability to wield some prime one-handed weapons with a shield, or two-handed variants of axe or sword. At level 70-80: Aim for 100 DEX to equip the Knight Hauberk.
Binged it for a month straight for nostalgia. Used to play in 2001-2002 when Korean MMOs weren't over-monetized Unreal Engine slop. Gameplay - The game hasn't aged well in many ways, unfortunately. There are a lot of weird bugs and outdated features. As someone else mentioned, 1H axes turn male character models different colors at certain sprite angles. Aresden church is still a character-breaking trap for anyone without a recall spell/scroll. The UI is very dated and lacks updates to bring it into modernity. Newer or returning players will have to ask a lot of questions. Knowledge of Helbreath USA seems to have been lost to time, and the official website is out of date on a lot of knowledge and nuance of the game. The game will start to chug if you play a long time. Logging out to character select will require all your credentials to be re-entered every single time. You can see the hallmarks of abandonware and a mostly-neglected private server barely held together by digital bandaids at every turn. Community - It's just a gankbox, as it was 25 years ago. The "pvp" in this game isn't the honorable, dignified, romanticized "army vs army" brawl of camaraderie you see in Youtube clips, store page featurettes, or screenshots. Actually, 99.9% of the time it's non-consensual 2v1 assassination attempts, from stealth, once or twice per login, while you're minding your own business farming or leveling open-world, by players much higher level and better geared than you. It's not so much an RPG as it is "Shawshank Redemption: The Game." As with any MMO, it lives and dies by its community. Since the population of the servers is so incredibly low (single digits most days), helping other players and growing the community should be of paramount importance. But this is disregarded by a handful of other players who are still in full-bore psycho PvP/Gank mode. These players ruin the quietude and delicate community ties for everyone else by using cringe tribalism, insults, cowardly tactics, and unsportsmanlike behavior. Funny enough, the very first thing you see on the store page is two people doing exactly this. That's the entire game loop - being made miserable, or making others miserable. The only winning move is to never play. Expect to see some of the worst traits of anonymous humanity going in.
very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game
A little bit hard to progress as it is kind of old school the XP rate is vary slow but play everyday to see if the double XP event is there as it doubles the XP drop rate by 200. More people are on the Elvine (75+) side then Arsden (65+). blizzard Needs (915) int but will not work as there is also a problem with Axe and shield warriors they turn the Character all black
Brings me back to my youth. I miss this game. Hope to see the population rise!
Able to relive the 2001-02 fun. Just needs more people to play this game, as its both fun and cruel lol
