About
On September 3, 1934, a passing truck driver saw a disturbing glow coming from an old mansion, The Rosefield Manor on the outskirts of Northern England and decided to investigate. Inside, he discovered a horrifying scene: ten bodies scattered across the bloodstained floors, and in a bathtub filled with blood, a young girl lay dead, her eyes wide open in a frozen gaze. Truck Driver rushed to alert the police, who arrived to find the same gruesome sight. Despite their efforts, the investigation yielded no answers, leaving the mansion forever marked by the unresolved tragedy.
Years later, our protagonist, named Michael Dawson a freelancer specializing in antique acquisitions, came across a newspaper clipping about the mansion's grim history while perusing records at the town library. Intrigued by the macabre tale and the possibility of uncovering valuable artifacts, he decided to investigate the abandoned mansion himself. Driven by a mix of curiosity and professional interest, he ventured to the decaying estate, hoping to uncover relics and secrets hidden within its haunted walls.

what the heck did I just try to play? I can't tell if the game has really poor timing mechanics or the axe guy is supposed to kill you as soon as you enter the mansion gate. I literally had nowhere to run. The next chance I gave the game, I got into the mansion without the axe guy greeting me at all, but then this rando ghost greeted me as soon as I stepped in the door of the mansion. I was quick enough to back far away, but I still died? This game is either meant to frustrate or it's shoddy. I didn't want to frustrate myself with a third go. Asked for a refund.
Everything starts in the gloomy forest connected to the Rosefield Manor. From here, we make our way to the large mansion-type building with fences and gates all around it. Main part of the gameplay takes place inside it, where our goal will be to collect various hidden objects. We are equipped with a list of objects that we need to acquire. In almost similar fashion to a shopping list, we can track any of the remaining objects that we need to collect. While moving around the Manor and finding different objects, we will have to watch out for any of the AI roaming in- and outside the location. If we get directly caught by the AI, we fail the mission and start over from scratch. All of the rooms inside the Manor are dimly lit, and we have a flashlight that we can use to help us navigate and find the objects. The flashlight uses batteries, so it's crucial to manage its power by picking up batteries scattered throughout the building. Besides our source of light, there's an important mechanic relating to our sanity that we also have to take care of. We have a sanity-meter that increases whenever we face paranormal activity. Pretty parallel to the way we pick up batteries for our flashlight, we also have to pick up and use medicine to keep our sanity intact. From the well-decorated rooms to the overall illumination of the in- and outside of the manor, everything falls well into place and delivers us a good experience when it comes to visual fidelity. Truly a good work of art in this regard. Likewise, another area that stands out to me, is the AI. It's not one of those games where you can just ignore and outrun the AI, you have to stay pretty conservative with your overall movement in order to beat it. It requires effort. On top of that, it has some deeply unsettling effects that makes it very uncomfortable to get caught by it; not just a simple jumpscare like we usually see from similar titles. All of the dimly lit rooms and the constant sound of inner distress in combination with the lively experience from paranormal activity, creates a very tense atmosphere. It's really done in an excellent manner. The game is super good at throwing you out the seat without relying on jumpscares in order to do so.

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3345293219

Now, the game also lacks heavily in other areas. Some of which unfortunately takes away a lot of the immersion. My biggest point here has to be the very unorthodox interactions with objects. First of all, we don't get any interaction feedback when hovering over items that can be picked up. We have an entirely identical display to when we hover all of the static objects that are part of the building and can't be picked up, making it very hard to judge whether any items are of significance to us or not. One more pretty off-putting experience surrounding the interactions — there seems to be no directional system in place for interactions. Whenever we're close to objects and we press "E" for interact, we pick up items without even looking at them. Multiple times I experienced that I wanted to pick up a battery or some medicine, and ended up completing one of the objectives for finding a hidden object, without even seeing the hidden object on my screen or realizing it was there. After learning this, I simply proceeded the game by standing next to all points of interest and started smashing the "E" key, since the game doesn't really reward you for looking around and finding any object on your own.

This game brings a new breath to the horror genre! Its atmosphere, which makes you feel the tension step by step, is combined with sound effects that make you feel like something is going to happen at any moment. Even hearing the echoes of your steps in the dark corridors will give you goosebumps. The depth of the story and the gripping plot will lock you to the screen. The creatures that suddenly appear before you and the mysteries you have to solve will make your heart beat faster! If you want to have an adrenaline-filled experience and dive into a real horror atmosphere, this game is for you. If you dare, step into the darkness!
The graphics looks beautiful, and the game gives a cinematic feel while playing. I think it's a nice game.

It has a structure that engages you without boring you. While playing, I truly felt both scared and enjoyed. Its definitely deserves a chance.
It's rare that I'm unable or unwilling to finish a game. While playing this game, I was definitely confused on what the objectives were and I stumbled around the mansion trying to figure out if I should use LMB on an item or E (strange system to interact with and collect items). I then learned we have an inventory system with an EMF device and that's when I told myself "now I can REALLY play the game" and I set off on a personal challenge to find all the items. After a couple restarts due to being caught by the nun, I continued, only to get stuck because my flashlight ran out of batteries and I couldn't possibly navigate the dark mansion to find more. I restarted the game and made another attempt while using my flashlight as little as possible and collecting as many batteries as possible. I found all the items, perfect. Now I had to find a garage, where is the garage?? I had found it by accident on a previous attempt but this time I had no idea where it was. I walked along the entire exterior of the forest and didn't find anything. My battery eventually ran out and there was no way I could continue my search. I made it to the exterior of the mansion and found a side door but it was way too dark again for me to do anything. The game was also bugged in a way that I couldn't leave that little room, something was blocking me from exiting even when the door was open. With a dead battery and no more patience, I decided to quit the game. It came down to the game being a simple "find items and don't die", and it might be a fantastic game for speedrunners but not for someone who wants to feel like they received a quality product with some sense of story and gameplay that ties together. It's not a terrible game but this one needs a lot of work and updates, maybe a future project with more experience will provide a different experience.
