The game itself is just a worse version of Tibia, no sounds, no music. You can only rebind 4 hotbar keys, with the other 4 bindable keys not rebinding. The game is made for mobile, hold click to see the sparse item info, no tooltips, no right click interactions. Unable to rebind basic menus like inventory and others. There is only South American and European servers also. The game information on steam is also clearly made by chat GPT or some AI. One positive about the game is that it looks and runs well. Someone might like the watered down and simplified gameplay but this is absolutely not a PC game.
Yeah, tried the game out. Its horrible, easily the worst wannabe tibia clone i have ever came acrost. Don't waste your time with this game. 0/10

descriptions are written by chat-gpt... gives a great first impression /s and altho the chatgpt description tells us the game is "fresh", its NOT. its old. no sound in-game. the game looks horrible.
Negatives: No sound at all. Movement like a snail. No character creation. Has 3 or 4 classes. Only 2 servers in EU and South America. Positives: Small download size. Free to play. Easy to uninstall.
I tried really hard to like this game but unfortunately it fell wide (extremely wide) of the mark. Absolutely huge red flag for me, was the total lack of communication when the game failed to launch at publicised time. After 3 hours of radio silence, I gave it up as a bad job and went to bed. What's with a 19:00 launch time anyway? Cant you guys do morning or afternoon launches? Following day I logged into game and was met by a player level 200+ .... So much for this game being "Fresh and new" The very first thing that hits you like a sledgehammer to the face, is the 4FPS janky movement! Its painful, its worse that than early 80s Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k movement! The levelling just feels off, its grindy, its a chore, again its something that is painful to do. After 10 hours of play, I had a total of only 2 items drop! Where's my dopamine hit? Both drops where not an upgrade, but were in fact the exact same wand and pants that I had at the very beginning.... I want dopamine hits, I want several per hour, there is no excuse for zero drops, and zero upgrades in the first 10 hours, especially when those first few hours are going to be the impressions left on new players. Information seems to be as hard to come by, as the dopamine. The explanation is very sparse. "Go find 5 things in a sewer" as a quest is poor. No explanation of what things, no clue as to where the sewer is, or how to enter it. Anyone who has played this genre will know where to look, but anyone new to it, will need a little more help. The game has a pre Alpha testing phase feel to it, no sound sound, no music, clunky movement, no drops, no text. Im sorry chief, this just dont scratch any itch for me.
I do not really understand previous reviews. This is a wholesome minimalistic and old school type of game. It's pretty much Tibia but with funny Swedish references. When you play the game for the first time you should not expect this to be the next big thing. It's a low budget game filled with lots of nostalgia and old school mmorpg grinding. I would recommend you play this game while having 50% focus on something else at the same time. I also saw that someone complained about a high leveled player showing up on launch. I do not know what was promised here, but the game has been up on Google Play Store for a bit so that's where the levels come from most likely. Since the game is very small in size I recommend all MMORPG players to at least give it a try. You will notice fast if you enjoy the game or not and will not lose much time unlike with most games where you lost an afternoon if the game isn't for you. As for the judgment (based on the subgenre old school mmorpg): Graphics: 3 Sound: 0 Design: 6 Gameplay: 7 Overall: 4/10 (5 or 6 out of 10 removing the sound in rating) Worth a try since it's free. Better than the average new MMORPG.
It would be generous to call this game 'minimalistic'. There's no music, items & enemies behind trees are invisible, and even though there is a Teacher NPC he doesn't explain everything - like the fact that you need to eat, or what happens if 'hunger' goes to zero? It doesn't help that 'hunger' can only be viewed from the stats menu. All that I could overlook for a free game, but this one is "Freemium" - wanting you to buy a gold pass and sporting a premium shop. I can't say it's bad exactly, but it's also not good enough to recommend.
Halmgaard is one of the most refreshing and addictive RPG experiences I’ve played in years. The atmosphere, the lore, and the overall world design pull you in instantly. Every area feels unique, and the progression system is perfectly paced — challenging without ever feeling unfair. What I appreciate most is how skill-based and tactical the combat is. You can’t just button-mash; you actually have to think, plan, and use your abilities properly. As a mage, the spell variety and the feeling of power when clearing groups is incredibly satisfying. The developers clearly put their heart into this game. The updates are consistent, the community is friendly, and the devs listen to feedback in a way you rarely see anymore. If you enjoy RPGs with depth, atmosphere, and real progression, Halmgaard is absolutely worth diving into. It’s easily one of the best rising indie RPG titles out there, and I can’t wait to see where the game goes next.
Game looked ok for about 2 minutes. Rebind keys was available but they dont show up as rebound on the skills bar...so that sucks. Also, no gamepad support, which would be easy to do for this game, and even more importantly, very important to put into the game. But none of this matters because when walking with the arrow keys or the wasd keys, you cant walk normal. The hero walks around aimlessly, and auto walks into walls on it's own. The player is not able to control the direction the hero walks basically. So it is not playable at this point. Devs are also not responsive and dont do updates and fixes. If they were serious about this game, they would have fixed this auto walking issue a long time ago. There needs to be several updates a week at a minimum.
