This game has depth, but not a lot of complexity (a good thing!). The rules of the puzzles are simple and you can learn them easily, but to master the game requires thinking. Just like in chess. The levels get more difficult with a nice incremental curve - every level is a little bit more challenging, and so far I have not met a level that would had been too easy, or too challenging. One thing that I found a bit distracting was the music, although I can appreciate the DOS aesthetics with Soundblaster - but I like to do puzzle work with not much distractions. The great thing is that there are a lot of options to configure the game: colorblind mode, difficult languages etc. to make the puzzle solving a smooth ride. Also, keyboard control was something I missed, but the mouse control worked really fine. If you like games like Baba is you, 2048, chess, klock!, lemmings and other type of puzzle games, or want to have a nice trip back to DOS gaming, I can warmly recommend the game. A great game - definitely worth the price.
What seems to be a simple game turns out o be a brilliant modern brainteaser. Very fun game:)
great game with an amazing ost, will make you think every single move and wont let you make mistakes
Do you have some free time during your evening? Do you like puzzle games? Are you nostalgic for DOS aesthetics? Great, then Hack Grid is a game just for you! This is a well-made game. Sure, it's relatively short, but I think it has just enough puzzles to explore its simple, yet entertaining gameplay. I didn't encounter any bugs, it runs smoothly. Graphics are minimalistic, very nice, and you can spice them up a little with CRT filter. Puzzle themselves have a right level of difficulty, and you get some new mechanic once in a while, so you don't get bored. This would also be nice to play on mobile/tablet devices! I think the mechanics could fit these devices even more. Definitely recommending.
This is a quite fun and clever game! The stylistics as well as the levels were really enjoyable, especially the detailed settings with lots of features for more comfort.
strongly reccomendation. for this price really enjoyable time.
Fun little puzzle game that makes me furrious for not being able to solve it. But for some reason - maybe colours, simple yet cute desing and soundtrack - it is very addictive and I'm turning the game after few hours back on and finish the level or three. And then repeat my experience again. My anger management aside, this game is fun, simple (with rules, style etc) and it forces you to think. I would consider it a nice present for someone who likes to solve puzzles. :)
Hack Grid is an indie developed "old school" style puzzle game where the goal is to only have one piece left on the board in order to "hack the grid". A simple concept, but genuinely challenging puzzles that progressively get harder as you play. Tutorial messages are provided for the first ten levels to help you get started, and the initial levels are easy, allowing new players to learn the ropes of the game. Unfortunately, I found the music somewhat annoying, and had to mute it to keep playing and enjoy the experience. Though the music is meant to fit in with the retro style theme, personally I found it takes away from the game. Themes: No adult themes or violence, making this game family friendly. *** ~ House Blythe, curator for Non-violent Entertainment: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35899705/

Full disclosure: I was a playtester for this game. In Hack Grid each level has a different setup of pieces and trails within a 4x4 grid (sometimes it's smaller). In order to move a piece, it must have a straight line of trails or empty sockets leading to a differently colored piece. What makes the grids interesting is not only the different setups of pieces, but also the way the trails connect between them; It varies from level to level, and sometimes the lack of a direct trail between two pieces can trip you up, if you are not paying enough attention to the trails. Aside from some special pieces, generally the pieces only come in 2 colors, which means that while removing pieces from the grid, if there are still more than 2 pieces left, you have to make sure not to eliminate the other color. Otherwise you'll find yourself stuck with two or more pieces of the same color that cannot remove one another. It gets a lot more tricky once you get to the levels with both pieces that change color each time they move, and pieces that change color each time another piece moves. When most pieces are changing their color each time you move a piece, it can get harder to wrap your head around multiple different color changing gameplay mechanics while predicting what the grid will look like multiple moves into the future. On the later levels I found myself playing more by trial & error, which is fine too, but perhaps doesn't have the same satisfaction as playing the level first inside your head, and then executing the perfect moves from the start. Overall I found the levels to be sufficiently challenging, nothing too frustrating, though I did take a few breaks when I found my stupid brain repeating the same moves over and over again without success. Personally not a fan of the CRT effect, but you can just disable it in the settings, so it's not a problem. I'd recommend this game if you're looking for a simple but challenging puzzle game that can last a couple of sessions, but your mileage may vary.
