I played the original GW Prophecies back in the day, and enjoyed the story aspect. Naturally I bought this on disc when it came out in 2012. Unlike GW Proph, this is an open world with level scaling, but it still has the same rich story element to it. Plus GW2 keeps track of your quests and your campaign progress in journal you can view at any time. I stopped playing after 2014 because the action MMO gameplay was frustrating, and skill trees became too complex for me to grasp. I restarted this game in 2025, there are ground and flying mounts, plus several paid DLCs. (very spendy at $30 each) I was surprised to have un-opened birthday presents from the last 12 years waiting in my mailbox, which included an xp boost to level 50. The game has gotten really huge, and its weird seeing the outlandish player transmogs, many of them do not fit the fantasy element. (it kills the looks of the fantasy look of the game.) The number of paid services have also increased, I don't think its completely pay to play yet, but a lot of things are restricted if you don't pay more than base game (class choices, skills choices, storage / bag space, character customizations, etc.) However, I think the base game is free now? I still hate the jumping puzzles, and action-style game mechanics. Bag space is even worse than before, you get so many items from leveling-up rewards, and event gifts. Its too bad Necromancers can't summon huge armies like they did in GW Proph.
Just here for gw3 but i love this game. playing it every week or so can't wait for the new one
A little grindy at times, but overall worth playing. Pay once and play free forever (barring purchasing DLC) is brilliant, a model I highly support. The story missions are excellent fun.
I like the free feeling of the game
I love the lack of the trinity and the games cutscenes are a lot better than reading text. The story is amazing and the people in the game are awesome!

Very fun and addictive. Been playing nonstop for the past week and barely have 35% of the map unlocked. There is a ton of content in the free version that I haven't experienced yet. I highly recommend giving it a try
