Very much the kind of entry-level project that's contributed to giving RPG Maker games the kind of reputation they have. Between the default SFX and music (why'd the developer saddle us with the same tired, overplayed battle tune that every other project uses when they're clearly capable of creating their own songs?), the semi-incompetently applied RTP-tiled maps (that are sometimes straight up sample maps with slight edits), the shoddy eventing (going south on the first map has you starting facing northward from the bottom of the next map), the basic and unbalanced battle system (for the MC as a scientist, it takes 16 turns to beat a haha-you-can't-run-from-this encounter with a pair of slimes where all you can do is click attack and heal; they only have the one skill, attack, from what I could tell), and the severe lack of spell-checking/editing, Great Utopia definitely lives up to its $0.00 price tag. The story, while poorly told, is totally acceptable pulpy sci-fi JRPG fare, but the presentation and execution of everything here is very much baby's-first-RPG-Maker-project -- an admirable place to get to as budding RPG Maker developer, for sure, but also clearly a place that should serve as a jumping off point for better, more polished future projects, and not actually something that ever needs to be shown to anyone outside of close friends, family, and people who can give you advice on proper game design.
