The single-player campaign is still one of the best-told open-world stories out there. Bouncing between Michael, Franklin and Trevor gives Rockstar three completely different tones to play with, and the production values (soundtrack, radio stations, mission set-pieces) haven't really been matched since. Where it gets messy is GTA Online, which is the same brilliant sandbox buried under a decade-plus of Shark Card monetization creep. At this point buying a Shark Card feels less like a purchase and more like paying a toll booth operator who also happens to own the road, the gas station, and your car. Heist payouts from years ago look laughable next to newer content, and every update leans a little harder on nudging you toward the shop instead of the grind. Still genuinely fun with friends — ten years later and Trevor remains the only coworker I'd actually invite to a barbecue. Recommended for the campaign alone; approach Online with your wallet closed and your expectations calibrated.
