This is an awesome concept as it takes social media to the next level. Being able to sit in the dev's own living room and have a conversation as though I was really there is incredible. Truly an innovative idea for VR and hopefully something that will gain lots of traction as it progresses. The host of the room was great and friendly and very open to new ideas as well as any issues that may be found from various users. Keep up the great work and I look forward to watching this software advance. 10/10 Update: They've just implemented a X,Y Graphic Plotter(Cleverly named Harry Plotter), to the software and now, anyone can come into the 3D Room and have a go at drawing on paper using it. I know! So cool! Score is now 12/10 !!!
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Pretty good start for EA. This is not a complete review, just a first impressions. I came on late at night and was playing around with the RC camera. I was honestly very surprised by the streaming quality. It was very good. I think we're used to seeing bad 360 videos on YouTube and I was expecting more of that. Instead the streaming quality is pretty enjoyeable to watch. It's almost difficult to believe it's being broadcast in real-time. In fact, I was having my doubts about that until one of the devs walked in and we had a nice little conversation. He's working on the app and will be rolling out a new update soon. I was very impressed by everything. If you visit their discord channel, you will even see some planned events. So this is something new to VR. I have no idea if this will take off or not. Obviously, for something like this to work you need a community. A dedicated playerbase that will help in making this a place worth visiting. There isn't a lot of content here yet, but keep in mind this is mostly a social app. It needs many people putting time and effort into and then the content will be there. Rate 6.5.10. Great start to EA. Looks like 2 young and dedicated devs. I mean it's free, if this sounds like something you'd be into then it doesn't hurt to download and check their schedule ... or just play around with the RC camera ;)
Very surreal experience, I entered someones home, drove a little VR car around the living room, spoke to the person there, fed their dog, broke there lamp, and left. 10/10
Waauw, this is something else. You are live in the livingroom of the dev's, very friendly and helpfull. You can drive around, interact with things, or just have a talk with them. This concept is like a gamechanger, this is what more vr applications should work at. Best concept i have seen in years!
I never write reviews for anything, but i just tried this out of curiosity as it is free and had to leave my initial thoughts, as i believe these people are onto something really good here. Upon starting GonzoVR for the first time i loaded into a virtual lounge room styled lobby and selected the demo/tutorial, Once that demo was done i promptly selected to view the live streams available, and i was immediately greeted by Ela, she actually spoke directly to me via her microphone, and i spoke directly to her on my vive's headset mic which i thought was awesome. Ela even knew after i spoke to her that i am in Australia. I don't know if it was me saying G'day to her or my Aussie accent that gave it away, or if she had some sort of user connection monitor that tells her where people are watching from, either way i thought it was cool. I asked her how do i control things like giving a thumbs up on things i liked, and she quickly went through the basics of clicking things and controlling the rc car mounted camera users can drive around. She was extremely friendly, helpful and easy to talk to which has to be the best first initial impression of a vr app i have ever had the pleasure of using. I enjoyed it so much i decided to write this initial thoughts review. Ok what's not to like here, firstly it's free, secondly the interaction and social aspect of this is excellent. From my limited playtime, as it was about 5:38am Sydney Australia time i loaded this app up as i was about to head off to bed. I know for sure i will be playing this alot more as the interaction and the ability to see and hear the live broadcasters speak is awesome. And i got to see Gonzo up close in all his fluffy glory strutting his stuff like a champ. If you are undecided on downloading this do yourself a favour and install it, you won't be sorry, i know i'm not, and i really do hope this app gets alot of attention from people as it is the first truely unique vr experience i have had since purchasing my vive, and am now wondering why i haven't seen anything like this before. Visual wise the camera they are using is really good and i had no issues at all with the live stream, it ran perfectly and i was able to look around the room with no camera stutter or lag whatsoever. The audio when Ela spoke to me was extremely clear and perfectly audible, i understood every word she said everytime she talked, and she understood everything i said to her which was great. I didn't get a chance to try the camera mounted rc car yet, but i will try that out later today. There are also various pictures and links and stuff to interact with for example clicking on a picture/gif of gonzo played a video of him in the windowed frame where i clicked. I haven't tried it yet but you can also buy Gonzo a little doggie treat which is what i assume the in app purchases are for as everything else i mentioned i saw is free. TLDR: My first impressions are very good, the people who made this took what essentially is what the tv show Big Brother does, but gives us the users the ability of interaction with the live broadcasters, and things in the environment with full 360 degrees VR. This is labeled as early access, but rather surprisingly this is better than alot of the paid VR stuff here on steam and it's free. From what i saw and did i give GonzoVR a solid 10/10, and look forward to seeing more.
I only spent about 30 minutes in the app and I can already say this alone has potential to inspire the future of socializing in VR. For something homemade I would say the developers did an astounding job using what they have to create a simple yet entertaining app like this. I was absolutely astonished when I connected only to see that I can talk to the developers right there and then whilst controlling an RC car around their room. I love it when developers stay active in their community, but I also enjoy it more when you can talk one on one directly to them for just normal conversations. They are both really friendly and great to talk to, it makes the experience a lot better. You can see the pride and effort they are putting into this, and I definitely support them all the way. There is a bright future ahead for socializing in VR, and this is surely a great example on how socializing can be perfected with a VR headset, for those who want it to feel more real. I wish Godspeed for these two. ~ Logan

First time on tonight. This was an absolute ball. Probably top 3 favorite programs on VR. Dog was awesome, creators were nice and open. Just have to experience this for yourself. Can't go wrong. Looking forward to the upcoming guests. Will definitely be returning and wish the creators the best of luck, for everyone's benefit. Very great idea and executed well. Also, one of this biggest things was nothing looks like it was recorded through a fisheye lens. Just fun. I hate writing reviews, but had to take the time for this gem. For those who care, I experienced this on HTC Vive, GTX 1060, i5-7600k, 16g ram. Just try it out.
