great short game, but i think there is a lie between the tags on this game, this game is not non-linear, everything is pretty much goes to the same point. But i do recommend this game if you feel dysphoric about your body/gender.
I really don't have words for this game, or experience, rather. If you're transgender (MtF in any capacity) and happen to stumble upon this game, please play it. If you're cisgender or not MtF, please play it too. I don't often write serious reviews but this was one I couldn't avoid. This experience does an incredibly good job conveying some social interactions of what being a trans woman is like. Like, an INCREDIBLY good job. As someone who has shared the very moments portrayed by the game, I can't help but feel bitter-sweet. Bitter of how real each scenario is, how hard the reality of facing them in game and real life is, and just a reminder of how rough it all is. Sweet from feeling recognized, the immensely understood and accurate portrayals on the part of the dev, and a general outlet for these repressed feelings, yet ones I still face every day. The warnings to not play this depending on your current mental state were not for nothing, and the game's subjects hit like a truck either way, at least for me. I'm confident that anyone who's been through moments the likes of which I've been through and have been shown through this game can find peace. We are all strong and will make it through the good and the bad and will find the happiness and expression we all deserve. I also hope some cisgender folks can learn a thing or two from this small little title and understand just a bit more that the transgender community (or any community of a minority) is as deserving of rights and the will to live as anybody else is <3
Ummm... Yeah... I don't know what to say. I've had so many of these interactions before. Thanks, exodrifter, I hated it. I still recommend it, but do take the warnings from the beginning of the game seriously, please. Gonna' go play something cheerful now.
feels a bit too real..
Quite moving, gave me both dysphoria and euphoria. I can relate to some of the experiences shown in the game, and feel like it is an accurate representation for trans people, more particularly transfemme people since the game is made in the transfemme perspective. The game is about a compilation of the experiences a trans person goes through once they come out. I highly recommend this game if you are a fellow trans person or just want to step into a trans person's shoes.
It's an interesting story with many choices that don't really seem to matter. The worst thing for me was hearing that constant phone ringing sound, which I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be there or the result of a glitch. I also felt like it jumped around between times a lot without any clear indicator that it is in fact a time jump. Now, the experience is a worthwhile one to see one person's experience, but I feel like it is over too soon to get a feel for the authors full story. Still, if you got a few bucks, if not for the story, I'd recommend buying it to support the person behind the game.
Stumbled upon this and decided to buy it after thinking "hey, she has the same name! might as well try it!" It's painfully relatable, and really shines a light on the casual and "innocent" bad experiences. It's not the worst that can happen, but that doesn't take away from how yikes it is when they occur. Definitely recommend if you want to look at some common social pains of being trans.
While the game is very short, it still tells a very interesting and emotional story. A lot of the things described in the game felt very close to me and even though it's just text (basically a visual novel), I still felt compelled by the story. Completely unrelated, but it's also a fun title to have in your library "Gender Dysphoria", lol.
Solid game. It was very eye-opening.
As a trans man, I found myself connecting with Iris regardless. Gender dysphoria is something I’ve always had, and I appreciated that she, or rather you, were willing to share your experience in this fun and calming way.
