About
Build your own galactic empire and lead it to domination among the stars.
In Galactic Empire, every turn matters. You will expand your infrastructure, research new technologies, build and upgrade your fleet, manage diplomacy and trade, defend your worlds, and conquer new systems. Every decision shapes the future of your empire.
At the beginning of the game you choose:
Each starting planet has unique traits such as resource richness, food abundance, temperature, buildable space, population size, and sometimes unique structures. Your starting world directly influences your strategy.
Architect – cheaper and faster construction
Scientist – stronger research and technological development
General – superior military power and fleet efficiency
Each class changes your playstyle and provides unique bonuses. Additional specializations can be unlocked later in the game.
Choose one or more victory conditions:
technological supremacy
maximum reputation among factions
conquest of all planets
reaching a target score
Build structures, conduct research, and construct fleets. Unlock new technologies and blueprints that expand your strategic options and change how you play.
Your empire consists of four social classes:
unemployed
workers
engineers
administrators
Assign them wisely to ensure efficient growth, production, and stability.
Every ship contains upgrade slots for parts. These components allow you to fully customize your fleet, creating units specialized for economy, defense, or full-scale warfare.
Explore a massive procedural universe:
multiple galaxies and star systems
planets, black holes, nebulae
cantinas, asteroid fields, pirate hideouts
Send probes, scout locations, and decide how to use what you discover.
Your actions affect your reputation with other factions. Some will become allies and trade partners, while others will declare war and try to destroy your empire.
Build defensive systems and manage them during enemy attacks. Engage in turn-based battles and fight for control over the galaxy.

Despite that, I always have to play and review a few of them. Tough life indeed. Don’t worry, I ensure to present an unbiased and open-hearted review. So yeah, let’s dive right into the review.
About This Game

Storyline
I’m not quite sure if this game actually has a solid storyline. From what I experienced, the entire game revolves around the following plot:
You take on the role of a Commander on whom the fate of the entire universe lies upon. Will you be successful in managing and growing your universe or will you succumb to the challenges that lie ahead?
As you can see, it’s kinda a very basic plot that actually works since everything depends on the gameplay.
Gameplay Mechanics
This is a turn-based space empire management game with an engaging gameplay experience. Players can begin with a simple interface and progressively expand their empire into a large civilization through resource management and technological improvements. The interface becomes more involved and complex as the game proceeds, forcing players to prioritize technology while protecting their civilization from invaders. The flexibility to customize ships to meet individual playstyles is one of Galactic Empire's notable features. This allows users to customize their ships to their liking, making the gameplay experience more immersive. Additionally, the game provides a range of starting planets and win conditions, allowing players to customize their playthroughs and streamline their technology and buildings to meet their desired playstyle. The Journal is a useful reference that helps players stay organized while playing, and the expedition mini-game is a wonderful break from the micromanagement that comes with maintaining an empire. Furthermore, the completely realized card game within the canteen adds a fun and immersive element to the game. Despite its virtues, Galactic Empire has a few flaws that beginning players may find frustrating. The tech tree and prerequisites are initially perplexing, and the invasion mechanic lacks clarity and balance. Furthermore, the game necessitates extensive micromanagement, and there are no alarms to tell players if they have overlooked something.
Visuals and Sound
The game uses a very intriguing hand-drawn art style with a pleasant color palette. Not only is this a feast for our eyes, but it’s also very pleasing to look at. Right now, the entire game is 2d. It would’ve been cooler if they had taken a 3-dimensional approach so that it would feel a bit more immersive. I am not complaining though as they already nailed the 2d look. I have no complaints regarding the aural aspect of the game either.
Pros

Amazing 2d hand-drawn artstyle.
A really immersive gameplay.
It has a lot of features and gameplay elements.
Everything you do has an impact in the long run. This forces players to think a hundred times before making a decision.
The amount of customization options available allows players to streamline everything to meet their play style.

Cons

The game is a bit overwhelming at the start.
Some mechanics lack clarity and balance.

Conclusion
To summarize, Galactic Empire is a strong concept with impressive imagery that could use additional refinement and QOL enhancements. It has the potential to become an entertaining and immersive experience for gamers that prefer turn-based strategy games with a few changes and patches. The big question is, is it worth the 15 Euros price tag? I mean, it does have the content to make up for the asking price. So yes, it is! Rating: 8/10 I love seeing the universe burn.
**NOTE:** This review is part of my steam curator review and is the extended version. Check my steam curator page at https://store.steampowered.com/curator/39607348-Random-Game-Reviews-by-Labprofess/ . Follow appreciated! --- I'm going to be honest with you, before I played this game I never really understood grand strategy games. They used to be all over the steam store front pages. At Least for me. And I always wondered what exactly they were. Is a turn based game like a card game you play against a computer? Because that would get boring quickly. With this mindset I have started to ignore them whenever they came across me. Until I got the opportunity to review this game. The developer was nice enough to ask me if I was interested to try it out, so I took my chances, and I'm happy I did. Turn based games are nothing like I imagined them to be, quite the opposite, they are very fun! Essentially you have a turn, but the moment you're done you “continue” on to your next turn, there's no waiting involved. With this turn-based game, you are leading an empire in outer space doing typical leader things: feed your people, develop your technology and go to war. A classic. The amount of options this game lets you choose from is virtually endless. I myself haven't discovered them all yet, thinking I actually did. Ups. But I don't want to spoil the fun for you, it's really something you have to discover yourself. One of the small things I love about non high end games is that you can play them anywhere. They are so accessible, with any graphics card or CPU. Doesn't matter what, they are always available. From your gaming pc to your chromebook. This game fits into that category and that's what I love about it. I don't have to worry about whether this game is playable on my setup, I can just press the download button and start it up without worrying if my pc is going to catch on fire or not. Yet, I want to stress that this game has crisp details everywhere and no issues of lagging or stuttering. Even on the steam deck, the game manages to stay very clean and attractive to the player. This is no non high end game BUT missing textures or bad rendering type of game. And now, ladies and gentlemen, comes the highlight of my review, *drumroll*... Is the game worth it? One word answers only. Yes. Yes it is, however some things should be emphasized. First, this game features a bunch of translations. If you're planning to use one, keep in mind that while (at least for German) there are random bits here and there that will be in English. I can imagine that this will be fixed in a future update so it's not the end of the world. Secondly, while steam deck verified, and working, it's almost impossible to read on there. Yeah, don't do it. Thirdly, during the time I played the GPU usage spiked once after a new turn, causing the fan to quickly accelerate. While this didn't cause any issue, I just want to warn others that the same might happen to you but is nothing to worry about. And yea, there you have it. Will you still be planning to pick up the game? If so, good luck fellow commander!

Galactic Empire begins with a simple enough interface and only a handful of things to manage but as your civilization grows it quickly becomes more involved and complex, forcing you to prioritize certain technologies while trying to defend your civilization from invaders. This eventually leads you to constructing your own ships to explore the Galaxy and defeat your opponents. The ships can be modified individually, they have equipment slots allowing you to tweak them to your playstyle. The game features a couple classes and several different starting planets as well as a collection of win conditions to choose from, allowing each playthrough to be customized to your liking. These have a surprising amount of impact over the course of your playthrough, allowing you to streamline techs and buildings to cater to your playstyle. The journal is a great guide to keep me on track. I found it helped me keep things organized during my initial playthroughs and I love that I can choose my rewards, they really saved me time and time again. The expedition mini game does a good job of breaking up some of the gameplay and I like that there is an entire standalone card game available in the canteen. Similar to Gwent, it's a fully realized card game inside another game that you could chill and spend hours playing. I love the art, every card feels unique and every piece feels special. However, some of the art is a little too busy and I regularly had a difficult time telling at a glance what each card/building’s function was. Some of the art is particularly rough on colorblind players, and there are no accessibility options. Throughout my first and second playthrough I found myself having to check every individual building to remind myself of its function. Speaking of confusion, there are a couple frustrating spots as a new player. It took me quite a while to understand the tech tree and prerequisites my first playthrough. The layout seemed a little messy initially, but once I got the hang of it, it became more natural. A couple technologies have different names on different screens causing some confusion early on. I wish there was some way to quickly navigate to the related technology or building in the tool tips so I can easily determine what I need. Another frustrating point is invasions. You were warned that one is coming at some point with no real information. Eventually a fleet shows with no warning to take your resources. In my first playthrough, I had all my defenses around level 30 before the first fleet showed up. The fleet showed up walked through my defenses and took half of my resources. There was no combat tutorial and I’ve lost every invasion regardless of my defense levels every playthrough. Every couple turns after that, they showed back up and took everything I had until I lost. No indication of what rough level I should be or the strength of incoming fleets or maybe even a turn or two warning before they show up to take everything. Anything would be better than the current implementation, which is so frustrating. I don't enjoy the mechanic at all. There are quite a few menus and every turn involves a lot of clicking, there is a lot of micromanagement. As the game progresses, you unlock more systems, requiring more actions and clicking per turn and there are no alerts to warn you if you've forgotten something. Also, for some reason, every time I launch the game it loads Steam VR. Overall, Galactic Empire is a solid concept with nice art in need of some QOL, balance and polish. The framework is good, a lot of the mechanics are solid and I believe with a few tweaks and patches it will become a truly enjoyable experience throughout. I will probably not refund a game to help this small developer, but eh, I hoped for more. After 45 minutes I am still stuck in level 0 planet building, fighting with menus and without deeper understanding how much tritium should I expect to be needed later. Also those temperatures going crazy, I also assigned random people left right up and down... they ate up all my influence and I cannot cancel or move decision back without reloading, which is a bit irritating in game where all things are turn based and click based. You can feel that game was made with vision what developer feels is fun and great, but there is 0 help with interface and information. You have to struggle badly without understanding results of your decisions a lot. I am not sure how many hours later I can get to the card game part and if it will be more fun. 5/10, game generally works and is okayish, just not fun. One of achievements is getting 1000 resources of one type, which is not that hard to do, and 33% of people who played this game got so far. Advanced start with level 1 planet pre-built, so you can start colonizing and conquering would probably help this game. For explanations, Gearcity would be a great competitor - they made Youtube videos explaining deeper mechanics and how it all works, and ingame explanations are also very detailed and informative.
https://youtu.be/tuLkmqSnSe4
OCENA: OCENA: POZYTYWNA = 7.5/10
Aż do czasu gdy zbudujemy wystarczająco silną obronę planetarną i zaczniemy mielić atakujące nas jednostki na zasoby surowcowe do pozyskania następnie z pobitewnych pól zniszczeń.

Obserwuj kuratora WIDZOWIE HAKIEGO
►https://store.steampowered.com/curator/31951226/
Więcej informacji w recenzji:
