It needs more time to cook. Not enough to do and it's very RNG dependent. It's to much Lethal and not enough survival. I thought that you would have to fix up your van and then drive away from the F5 only for you to break down again and have to repair. But instead you get taken back to a menu like you are heading out on a new mission. Why? Survival horror with a dash of Lethal is much more fun for this theme. Seems like it's really missing out on something. The RNG sucks. When I need a battery we can't find any when I don't we find 5 in the first 5 minutes and they are in stupid location. Adds to much frustration to the game. Make it so were stripping cars and stealing fuel. Ditch the mini games for fixing the car and add the suspense of fixing it fast and needing to head out. Ditch "The company" nonsense. That's another game and it doesn't fit with this one. I'm still very interested to see how it progresses. This better not be another "were working on the game" then ditch us all in 6 months.
Horrible adaptation of the "Lethal company" style horror-friend-slop. It has a fantastic idea but the gameplay consists of nothing but running through copy-pasted houses and limited inventory space that turns the game into a constant back-and-forth that just isnt fun. On top of that, the spawn rates for the items you need are absolute garbage. We played for an hour and a half on basic levels and every run we did we could NEVER find the final object. Even after running through every house and using the crowbar everywhere we could we still could not manage to finish a run. Ultimately, the game is frustrating, repetitive, and just NOT fun. I honestly do not recommend this game, because even though it has LESS than almost every friend-slop game, it still costs TWICE as much. Do not waste your time or money playing this game.
sucks to write this review because i genuinely believe the enviroment, the sound, atmosphere is so good. i really love that but beyond that everything is lacking, especially if you're someone hoping to play this as a solo player. for starters, it has a new comer/training difficulty that is absolute garbage. the game will hit you with a tutorial warning at the start but you might as well wipe your a ss with it because it doesn't do a single thing worthwhile of teaching you anything. you basically just aimlessly wonder around hoping to find stuff in hopes it's what you need and that the RNG gods have blessed you. every run I kept getting a request to find motor fuel, and I spent one round just spending the entire thing going literally house to house, garage to garage, to find nothing but just the same fcking coolest OVER AND OVER AND OVER. it's as if the game wanted me to truly just fill the van with coolant instead with how persistent the item kept reppaearing. The RNG/Balance doesn't feel like it's tailored made to the difficulty you choose and it makes searching/finding stuff extremely tedious and annoying. I'm sure the cope response could be made "just play with people dude, than it's easier to find everything" but that's not the point, first part being matchmaking that doesn't exist so you just gotta hope you jump into a random lobby that's full of people with mics and will actually play, so that's a big toss up, but the second thing being, if you don't want someone playing it solo, then just don't let me start it solo then, tell me x amount of people are required and then I would just refund the game immediately so I don't waste my time. When I finally did finish the easiest difficulty setting, I just felt completely burnt out and exhausted with how hard and time consuming it was just to get to finish line, for the easiest difficulty setting mind you. I imagine the other settings is literally just the same gameplay loop but with faster tornados and I can't even begin to imagine me doing the same tedious/boring/repetitive loop for 10-30mins over and over, just with more garbage to make things even more annoying. Again, it's a great game in terms of atmosphere, sound etc... but beyond that, this is truly a friendslop game of all time where with friends it'll probably be fine to yap while random stuff goes on in a discord chat, but playing with randoms is insufferable, and playing solo is basically impossible unless you just love to waste your time running house to house all by yourself hoping to find random things while also having only 3 slots in your inventory to hold things. Also because for some reason even if you do play solo, the dev still forces a inventory slot to be taken by a walkie talkie you'll never use, so that's cool I guess. I'll keep an eye on developments and see if it gets better since it's early access, but currently this game is one to not buy currently if you're a solo player, or someone who hates really repetitive game loops that only feel fun when played with friends.
The good: Visually pleasing, RNG buildings, obstacles and items each round The bad: Its just too simple. The only real difficulty is if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time. Live power lines shouldn't tickle you, they need to incapacitate you at the least. If you fail a minigame, you need to find a new item for the repairs. I was expecting a higher difficulty curve, the reviews are hardly close to the experience. They expect up to 8 people what was accomplished easily with 1? File this one under "Maybe later".
dumb theft/looting simulator, more about stealing from peoples houses than storms.
The game is pretty much Phasmaphobia without the ghost hunting. All you do is spawn into a very small area, loot some houses while evading the tornado to repair the vehicle and go back to menu. Nothing special about it. If you can make it so you can have a much larger map, 10 times larger while driving around avoiding the storm with the boys, but can drill into the ground with the Vans drilling system so ti can be ankored, that way when the storm comes too close so your Van doesn't fly away but it can still be damaged a bit, then drive around to loot buildings and fix the van while doing your mission, and escape the area when meeting certain critera then that would have been such a better game. I do thank you guys for creating a game and taking the time to do so but add an element of control to your situation, and loss if it doesnt go our way. I thought when I saw the trailer, you are able to drive the van you use to escape the storms while having to stop and loot houses and buildings alone the way while driving to avoid the tornado and your crew having to play smart but fun, and quick. Eventually completeing missions along the way and then escape out of the tornado while you fully keep the ven repaired and on the move. Yet I was dissapointed that this is just very repetative and nothign really exciting. If they made it so you can operate your vehicle instead of it acting like one in Phasmaphobia where its just a prop and does nothing but shield you from the storm and it takes ZERO damage and you aare just safe forever if you stay inside, it just isn't exciting.
TL;DR for those with brain of goldfish: -Game is bad because it has a lot of bugs, it gets repetitive and mundane, has a difficulty curve that makes me dive in an opened utility cover, and the acid rain and hailstorms will frustrate you. -Game is good because it adds some excitement without a monster chasing you, has some other weather events that are fun, looks pretty, and fun activities with the pals. -A great romp with friends, play on normal to hard and tell nature you will not go quietly into that good night...you'll go screaming into the radio as you are carried about three blocks away. The Bad: Early Access - This game is indeed in its infancy. You will encounter bugs, you may get stuck in a wall, you may not be able to pick up items, you may feel as though you are going nuts because you can't find that last item that will fix the van and get you out before the F5 swallows you. Mundane Gameplay - I mean this in the nicest possible way, but the gameplay can be mundane from time to time especially if you play on your own. Collect items, fix the van, get out of there before the previously mentioned F5 comes around. That's it. Difficulty Curve - I recommend playing this between Normal and Hard if you are looking for a fun romp with friends. Training is insultingly easy and Nightmare is...well, ever play Phasmophobia when they released their Nightmare mode the first time around a few Halloweens ago and it basically turned you inside out? Yeah, Nightmare can be a frustrating pain. If you have a large group it can be anywhere between a royal pain and a cake walk, I have yet to find the sweet spot. The Weather Events: Twisters are not your enemy in this game. You know what are your enemies? Hailstorms and Acid Rain. Dear LORD...you want to see seven or eight people get wiped out in a jiffy? Look no further than having exactly one umbrella and everyone looking for cover as you get pummeled or burned to a crisp. Sometimes it is simple enough and the houses nearby have umbrellas for days. Other times everyone ends up incapacitated with your last two players huddled in the van with a whole three bars of health between them. This adds to the frustration factor. If any one of those things are a tripwire for you then this game is not for you. Now, onto the reasons I recommend this game, AKA, The Good: The Gameplay Itself: There are no monsters chasing you. The twisters make themselves known. You sometimes get Doppler to help you coordinate your looting strategies (but a pocket radar works, too). You sometimes have the visuals to see what everyone else sees. You get radios. You can coordinate and scour the map and find what you need especially when a couple of F4s rip houses to shreds. Crowbar? Nah, just wait for that kind F4 to rip the doors off. Failing that, a crowbar comes in handy to bust into places (and sometimes it is the objective). The Weather Events: I complained hard about the hailstorms and acid rain, yes. They are VERY frustrating. The lightning storms, the twisters, and that eerie calm before several twisters touch down? THAT is what I love. Just watch out when the lightning strikes, you will get a shocking experience. If that doesn't get you then the downed wires and opened utility covers will get you, especially in the dark. The Visuals: For an early access game, Funnel Runners has some astounding visuals. From the impending doom of an F4, the lightning ripping across the sky, or that terrifying calm and the sirens wailing in the background as an F5 starts strolling down main street ready to ruin your day, all of the visuals are amazing. Also nice to see the destruction physics after a nice three bedroom home has been reduced to rubble. Fun and Dumb Challenges and Dizzying Lore: Set yourself on fire for a total of ten minutes and unlock a costume. Zap your friends back to life twenty-five times and get another. Rip opened a bunch of doors with a crowbar and get the final costume. There is a great amount of depth to the lore if you run around and collect it. Or just throw darts at each other and get another achievement. Honestly, it is these dumb achievements and the lore that keep me coming back. Plus, throwing darts at your friends is fun. Oh, and there is a whiteboard that your artist friends will enjoy. Overall, very much recommended. Support the devs and let them develop this game into something amazing. There is only one setting right now but it has a few different versions of it. Plus its not expensive. Grab a few friends and fix your van as you give the bird to mother earth.
Огромный потенциал, задумка 10/10, визуал 10/10, производительность 10/10, кооп 10/10. Хватит на пару вечеров, ожидаем еще контента.
Personally, this game as it stands is NOT worth $14. I have just over 2 hours into it and my God it is painful, my friend group and I refuse to play it anymore. Best part about it is being picked up, spun around and dying in the Tornado.
Funnel Runners - review: Though Funnel Runners is in early, early access, it needs a lot of work to justify the sale price. Here are the issues that I have with the game that isn't fun to play anymore: - The 3 second hand animation when collecting tokens, needs to go. The player can't do anything until the animation completes. When there is an objective item right in front of the player and a tornado is bearing down, its irritating to see this animation. - The animation to consume an energy drink takes 6 seconds. The player can't do anything until that animation completes just like with collecting tokens. - Doors. To enter/exit through doors is done by simply walking through them instead of an interaction button. This makes it frustrating as the player will need to wait until the door closes on its own just to walk through a building having the player be stuck by the door. - Spawn items needed to complete the session is either very minimal (tires) or nonexistent at all. - There needs to be a silhouette or an on-screen arrow pointing to the location of the truck. The main objective to Funnel Runners is to repair the vehicle before the F5 tornado consumes the town. And when exiting a house with repair items, the player will often not know where the truck is at especially when there are weather effects of rain, lightning, and the occasional tornado chasing the player. Mind you, the truck is the safe space against tornados. - And, finally, the stamina. From my playtime with Funnel Runners, I would drain stamina every minute and wait 10-20 seconds for it to regenerate partially just to run again. When a game puts the player on a timer, every second counts. It is extremely stressful when the player would need to fight against the game to complete objectives. The concept is amazing, but the execution is just not there - yet. I'll post a positive review once there is more work done to Funnel Runners.
