FUNGI is a strategic online multiplayer game. Grow from a single cell into a multicellular fungus by leeching mass from other players. With the right strategy even smaller fungi can be a threat, so watch out! Play classic Free For All or hold your own in the exciting Battle Royale.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. The developer shut down the servers after taking money from gamers. This game cannot be played as intended.
This was a kind of ripoff of games like Agar.io and Galcon, basically a "my nodes/numbers" bigger than yours kind of deal only with phoned in minimalist graphics. It failed, of course, so the developer collected whatever money he managed to scam from gamers then pulled the plug on servers. See, there's a lot of reasons I write reviews about these products, and it's not just to warn gamers when a product just has sucky bad quality, it's also to warn gamers that you put your money at risk when you give it to amateur/indie devs, who usually put their needs far before that of gamers. So, "FUNGI" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. This game is fairly dated at 6 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $6 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at just a dozen or so concurrent players, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
Before I played FUNGI, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
A very confusing game. Would rather play agar.io or something similar x'D
