This game has been around for 27 years at this point and it is still a heavy hitter.
I played this game 20+ years ago, before and after they started charging money for it. Obviously, before release it was at it's prime, then Sony Online Entertainment added paid features and most of the audience dried up, going somewhere else. Since this is a return to free form with the formerly paid features, it's worth a try.
very fun game, loads of variations, usually evening/late night games are the best

Lol
I played this back in the late 90's and even after sony bought the game. However, nowadays, i quit their private games because of the toxicity. I just want to have fun.
Started playing this game in 1998 when I was 10 years old, Learned to type and made some friends that I still talk to. During those days i mainly played The Arena and when SOE took over I played mainly CTFX! SOE went p2p and I did not return until FREEINF was created, where I came back to play The Arena, CTF and mostly CM. 2024 steam relaunch by the Freeinf team, it has been a pretty good ride seeing old faces. The only zones that are played are CTF and Skirmish for League play, Pub games start picking up at around 6pm pst. I'd say both CTF and Skirmish league are welcoming to newer players that are willing to learn. I joined the CTF and Skirmish League and heard stories of past glories in leagues from players that are still playing. Nostolgia at it's peak! I'd recommend this game to everyone, it offers very unique game play solo or team oriented, no pay wall attached. If the game can be revived other zones open up Like Chamberts moon, Eol, The Arena and much more which opens up other game styles, maps, classes, weapon sets and armor. Remember this game is very old, you have vets with 20+ years of exp. so these guys do not know how it feels to be new. If you are coming in new i'd suggest to join the discord, jump into games, get the feel of the game and if you want to be a little more competitive join the league. -Thiz/DarkBoMer

Still just as good as it was 25 years ago I mean with much less people so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play
This used to be a fun game but unfortunately, the current playerbase trying to keep it alive are pretty unwelcoming. Had an issue with trying to get used to it again and asked multiple times for help but most went unanswered or met with slurs. Would have loved to play it again but without actual support, it's dead.
I played very little of this game on steam. It was on the sony online gaming network back when I played it. Decided to try it again....I do not have the muscle memory I had for it back then, nor the patience to keep playing to get it. This was a very nostalgic leap. I'm glad someone kept the torch burning for this game and I hope it one day gets a solid PC remaster. It's fun and rewards team work. Nothing fancy here. Just skating around firing machine guns and throwing grenades.
