♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ braindead Devs don't care about balance.
I've owned this game since Oct of 2021, the entrenched update. I, like so many others leaving bad reviews, love the concept of this game, but it is our duty to warn you about the worst aspects, the parts of the game you just don't notice until you've learned the ins and outs of every system. I have had my issues personally with the game for years but only now have the issues grown to such a festering stink of rubbish that I am making my review. This game is perfect for the new player, the person that does not want to invest time learning the game, the player that doesn't want to engrain themselves in the games community, the player who does not want to follow any meta. It is a game that consistently, no matter who you are or what you like about the game, everyone grows to resent it with enough time and experience watching what you liked about the game eventually die and replaced with something you don't like. Since I started, the game has changed to become RNG dependent to curve down those pesky skill ceilings. Changes to the armor vulnerability, rifle combat mechanics, logi gathering and all the way down to random weather events or wind changes. They overhauled the entire infantry experience to have bloom/RNG as well as stability RNG. Then a year later they add large ships, also filled with different RNG punishments if you happen to roll those unlucky dice, most of which do not even exist in the game today because of how bad they were on release. After this they added in RNG to the logistics, inventing the later removed concept of RNG prototype kits, where you would have a random chance to advance the tech, adding just another layer of RNG to prevent high skill ceilings, and on top of all of that they added weather conditions, allowing for random wind directions that could allow you to outrange enemy artillery and they would have 0 chance to ever shoot you back, also adding in large weather storms that could render an entire fraction of the games population useless causing them to slow to a grinding halt in their ability to play the game without dying simply to the weather and not even an enemy player. If you have a history of spending thousands of hours on an MMO this is not your game to do the same with, I cannot stress enough that the more time you invest into this game the more you will find systems and dev changes that just do not make and logical sense, even when they weaken something that deserves to be weakened. Their method of game balance will feel like they are throwing things at the wall and finding what sticks, it feels like this because it is exactly what they are doing. The dev team of foxhole has an estimated gross revenue of 61 million dollars, yet they will be the first ones to call themselves an indie company. When you've started to learn all the weird little facts like, this game is an MMO that doesn't have any moderation, the only source of justice is perfect video evidence of every encounter that you have to submit in a ticket, but the devs do not work on weekends so if it happens to fall under that time you have to wait no matter how game breaking your issue could be, There has been a massive growth of cheating inside the game, known dupe glitches that were heavily exploited for months straight, and the only reason it was discovered was because of how egregious the duping was it left massive tracks for players to figure out themselves and report on it, meanwhile if you had one single 17$/hr intern flying around invis, they would have caught it immediately. This same pattern happened before with other dupe glitches and will likely happen again, but the issue is the only reason they and other glitches ever get patched is due to player input doing 90% of the devs job for them. They do not play their own game, they don't hire people to play their game, they don't talk to the player base because they can't even talk to each other, during the airborne update the colonial faction was supposed to get the new torpedo bomber, but because the devs do not talk to even each other, one group had made a carrier for planes, and the other had made the torpedo bomber that was SUPPOSED to fit on the carrier, but by the time both teams finished, they had a plane that was twice the size of the carriers flattop, meaning it could not longer fit on top of it as intended. The solution? It wasn't to change course and stick to their mission, they instead flipped the planes and gave the Warden faction the torpedo bomber instead. If you like to find exploitable glitches that you want to use as an advantage and never be caught, this is your game. If you want a shallow understanding of game mechanics, this is your game. If you want to buy a cheating program and automatically be better than the most veteran players, this is your game. If you are here because you want to invest your time, then I beg you to run away before you waste your money, because you won't understand the feeling of every veteran player until you've watched the devs remove the thing you enjoyed most about the game, they will then do it again, and again, and again,
this is a joint account with me and my bf, I mostly just run the train back and forth, was harassed by people who called me a bot then suspended my account, other regiment remembers also got hurt trying to help me. Asking dev's to fix this. we already submitted our appeals.
have played this game on and off for years and its always been one of my favorites but in its current state i really cant recommend it the state of balance between factions in many areas is a mess for both sides and since the shard merge hacking has increased significantly since it seems most of the hackers had been on Charlie due to it not being the "Main" shard great game great concept but not worth the major timesink anything but frontline infantry is in its current state
had my account suspended for literally logging in during a break war for 5 minutes to help report (it/she) bitsy and am-katzest (it/she) who were harassing a female member of our regiment.
Devs dont care ggs
No point in playing, updates are released with half the content that favors one side or the other because the developers care more about the algorithm and steam rankings so they push half baked updates semi frequently to remain at the top which only leads to player in-balance because players wish to play the side with the freshest content and you have short wars and unchecked balance. Great concept and MAJOR update wars are fun and new players coming in will love the game for their first two wars but after that the blinders come off and they too see the jarring issues. Both factions of players are the biggest cry babies there is no "Dev bias". The developers just don't listen enough to their players.
