About
MERGE, BUILD, AND DEFEND
Your fortress is under attack! Choose and place buildings, merge matching ones to make them stronger, and prepare for waves of monsters. Build structures that train knights, horsemen, archers, and mages, while all kinds of turrets and barricades attack or slow down enemies as they approach. Face skeletons, slimes, dragons, giants, and even stronger foes that appear as you progress. Adapt your setup to each threat and prepare for mighty bosses that can quickly break through a weak defense.
MAKE EVERY TILE COUNT
Space is limited, so plan your fortress carefully. Clear trees to open new tiles, decide where to place buildings that train different units, and find the best spots for barricades and turrets. Use every tile wisely, leave enough room to place and merge buildings, and create a layout that balances attack and defense.
LEAD HEROES INTO BATTLE
Place a hero on the battlefield to fight alongside your army. Each hero has unique stats, a combat skill, and a permanent boost. Upgrade your heroes, equip gear with useful bonuses, and prepare them for regular battles and special challenges.
EARN GOLD AND GROW STRONGER
Build gold mines to earn extra gold during each wave, but protect them from enemy attacks to collect the full reward. Spend your gold on rerolls to search for better buildings, gain experience by merging structures, and choose a new upgrade each time you level up. Strengthen your units, improve your defenses, or pick bonuses that fit your current strategy.

What a GREAT relaxing and simple game. Challenge level is great also. Well Done!!!
Fortress Merge is a compact strategy experience that mixes tower defense, merging mechanics, roguelite upgrades, automated combat, and resource management into an approachable package. Developed by TapNation and Tartatin and published by QubicGames, the game revolves around building a fortress capable of surviving increasingly dangerous enemy waves. Its premise is easy to grasp, but the restrictions placed on construction space and the need to continually improve defenses give the game a respectable amount of tactical depth beneath its casual appearance. The central mechanic involves placing structures and merging identical ones to create more powerful versions. Buildings can produce combat units such as knights, archers, horsemen, and mages, while defensive structures including turrets and barricades help prevent enemies from reaching vulnerable areas. Because the fortress cannot accommodate an unlimited number of buildings, every placement matters. Players must decide whether to expand their offensive capabilities, reinforce defensive positions, or preserve enough free space to make future merges possible. This spatial management gives the otherwise simple merging mechanic an important strategic purpose. Combat largely plays out automatically once enemies begin advancing, shifting the player's attention toward preparation and development rather than direct control over every soldier. Opponents include skeletons, slimes, giants, dragons, bosses, and other fantasy creatures, with later encounters requiring considerably stronger defenses. An effective fortress therefore needs more than raw damage. Barricades can help control approaching enemies, ranged defenses provide additional pressure, and troop-producing buildings supply the forces needed to confront attackers directly. Bosses are especially useful as tests of whether a build has developed efficiently enough. Resource management adds another decision-making layer. Gold mines can generate valuable income during waves, but dedicating space to economic structures means temporarily sacrificing room that could have been used for immediate defense. Protecting those mines becomes important if players want to maximize their rewards. Gold can also support rerolling opportunities, which helps when the available structures do not fit the current strategy. Since progression contains randomized elements, successful runs depend partly on adapting to what is available rather than following an identical building sequence every time. Merging buildings generates experience, eventually allowing players to select upgrades that strengthen different aspects of their forces and fortress. These choices introduce the roguelite side of the design. A run can gradually develop around stronger troops, better defensive capabilities, or bonuses that complement particular structures. The randomness means that some combinations will naturally feel stronger than others, but it also encourages experimentation. Finding an effective interaction between buildings and upgrades is one of the more satisfying parts of the progression system. Heroes provide additional personality and long-term development. Three heroes are available, each with individual statistics, a combat ability, and a permanent bonus. They can be upgraded and equipped with gear, giving players another avenue for improving their overall effectiveness. The hero mechanics are not excessively complicated, which fits the game's accessible approach, but they provide enough progression to make advancement feel broader than simply merging buildings into higher levels. There is also more to play than the standard defensive sequence. Grand Battle, Boss Fight, and Hero Battle offer additional challenges, while different battlefields introduce varying layouts and environmental obstacles. These changes are particularly useful because construction space plays such a significant role in the gameplay. A strategy that works efficiently on one map may require substantial adjustment on another. This variation helps reduce some of the repetition that naturally comes with a game centered on repeated waves and incremental improvement. Visually, Fortress Merge favors a bright and readable fantasy style. Units and structures are designed to remain recognizable when several things are happening simultaneously, which is important for a game where players need to quickly understand the condition of their fortress. The presentation is more playful than intimidating, making it suitable for players who prefer casual aesthetics over darker fantasy environments. The Steam disclosure also notes the use of AI-generated content for some visual elements, something players interested in how game assets are produced may want to consider. As a free-to-play title, Fortress Merge has a low barrier to entry, although it includes in-app purchases. That structure may appeal to players who simply want to try the gameplay loop before committing money, while those who strongly prefer traditional premium games may be less enthusiastic about the monetization model. Steam achievements and Steam Cloud support provide additional convenience and objectives for players who spend more time with the game. For Steam Deck users, the game does not currently appear to have an official Valve Steam Deck compatibility rating, so it should be treated as having an unverified or unknown official Deck status rather than being described as Verified or Playable. Controller support is a positive sign for portable use, but players should not assume that every interface element, text size, or performance characteristic has been formally validated for Steam Deck. Until an official compatibility classification is provided, Deck users should approach it as a title that may work but lacks Valve's formal compatibility assurance. Overall, Fortress Merge makes good use of a straightforward merging concept by surrounding it with meaningful choices about positioning, economy, upgrades, heroes, and defensive preparation. The combat can become repetitive for players who want extensive direct control, and randomized progression will not appeal equally to everyone. Nevertheless, the combination of limited construction space and escalating enemy pressure prevents the merging system from becoming completely mindless. It works best as a lightweight strategy game for players who enjoy gradually optimizing builds, experimenting with upgrades, and watching carefully prepared defenses survive increasingly difficult attacks. Rating: 6/10
It's alright for a freebie. A bit slow, but still fun.
Bien trop lent, il faudrait au moins avoir un x2 et même un x4 pour voir si le jeu en vaut la peine.
