FLUCTUOID is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This platformer is another case of Itchio failing the one and only job it has... to contain and isolate amateur shovelware on Steam. The game comes across more as a concept or tech demo, given the placeholder graphics. What's it about? You play as a creature that can shrink and grow to navigate a maze. The game's story is about exploring a mysterious maze in different themed worlds, solving puzzles. The gameplay involves shrinking and growing to overcome obstacles and traverse various environments, but given how bad this looks, it's no wonder it was widely rejected or ignored by gamers on Steam. Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 8 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.

This free to play game is both challenging and creative that makes the player want to continue. It doesn't take very long to realize that you are curious about what the new challenges will be as you progress through the different levels. Pros • The music is calming and doesn't distract or add to the stress of the gameplay. • The graphics are simple and easy to run • The levels are creative and challenging • The game is doesn't cause too much stress • The levels make you think, but aren't too complicated • It is free to play • It records your time which allows you to challenge yourself again Suggestions • Make it known that the enter key is the first key to press at the start menu If you are someone that gets easily angered by games where you have to try multiple times to complete something, this game might not be for you, but try it anyway. 游戏流程很短,我这么手残的也能3个小时全通,游戏性上来说是一个有点创意的小跑酷游戏,及格线以上,主要是免费的
This game is awesome! Manipulate your size to navigate obstacles, reach collectibles, and adapt to the varied game mechanics being introduced throughout. Its a simple platformer with a lot of heart!

Interesting idea that's fun to play. I think you should make levels a little clearer though (like I initially didn't know if there were 2 or 4 levels) and coins should have some kind of value (even if you can only buy a useless skin or something). Would recommend overall 👍
I found this platformer quite challenging, mainly stemming from what I think to be some kind of stutter that occurs during levels. It seems that from level to level, the FPS I had fluctuates (pun intended), sometimes around 60 and other times 90 or 120. Not sure if its an oversight, but it was quite annoying having to overcome the already harder levels in the later stages. This may have also contributed to my many missed jumps, but can't say for certain. Perhaps my issues were down to some kind of GPU driver problem, so I may be an outlier. The UI is basically non existent, leaving me to alt-F4 once I was done. The game can be completed within about 2 hours or less. Overall, the mechanics that are introduced are actually very well made for what is a 2D pixel presentation, lots of obstacles to overcome. Pretty sweet that a project like this is free!
