This should have started as an Early Access game. There's an interesting thematic concept here but - free or not - I just can't recommend this to anyone in its current state. List of issues after just 10 minutes of gameplay: - Bad voice acting. - Low quality voice recording. - Repetitive voice lines. - No tutorial. - No tooltips. - No hints/tips. - Keybindings screen is incomplete (zooming in/out is possible but is not displayed). - Cards cannot be read (about 70% of the text is hidden off-screen when a card is selected). For a solid Nature vs Humanity turn-based game, check out Spirit Island instead.
The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race. This game being one of them. A horribly unbalanced and broken mess of Neo-Malthusean propaganda masquerading as a game. Credit where credit is due though, the dryad is cute. The VA though couldn't sound any more uninterested if they tried. Which is fitting because nothing in this game aside from that design denotes any modicum of effort being put forth. And I like the concept of a nature-based 4x. It's a shame that this game isn't it. 4/10.

Fun, pretty, & free. It took about fifteen minutes to win and see everything there was to offer, but it was the most pleasant fifteen minutes I've spent with a 4X game recently. More interesting is that nature has a huge advantage in this representation: as others have mentioned, the flower bombs enable appropriately explosive growth. This somewhat undermines the tone of the game, which tries to sell humans as destructive and terrifying. In practice, the mechanics actually encourage the opposite dynamic: nature boxes the humans in and literally eradicates them. I achieved "victory" by taking over every human-occupied square, and the implication that I got is that the humans are just... dead? If this were expanded into a full game, it would be nice to see more thematically and tonally consistent mechanics, like nature tiles that don't outright kill humans: greehouses, gardens, arboretums, bike paths, &c. But generally, worth a look. And it's refreshing to see a 4X game that is actively anti-colonial.
Fun game! A little hard to understand at first, but manageable in the end
Fejlesztési lehetőségek: - menüben több opció, akár felbontásra vagy főképp a hanggal kapcsolatosan - még több hang a narrátorhoz (maga a hang tökéletes a karakterhez, de lehetne többféle mondandója) ENG: A game with very nice graphics and an interesting concept. The gameplay itself is simple and involves a very good topology. I had two problems: - In some video scenes, the camera just went where it wanted to go, but nothing happened within the playback. - Task itself is not very talkative for a beginner, but if you read carefully it's relatively easy to figure out. Development possibilities: - menu with more options, either for resolution or especially for sound - more voices for the narrator (the voice itself is perfect for the character, but could have more voicelines)
i didn't really like the game as a "Game" but i really love many other aspects of it, so i'm willing to say "yes" to recommending the game. I see this game more as of a, prototype to something grander. A good and a lot more interesting game. Now with this sum up of my simpler thoughts let me elaborate. I like the concept of the game, a card based game with you expanding green body on a barely inhabited island, trying to outroot a "pest" from perspective of who you are, which are humans. But going back to the card part of the game. I'd love to see it giving you X amount of cards each turn which you would collect as a deck of sorts. Like in uno or more traditional card games. I'd also like to see bigger variety of sorts, my idea being diffrent kinds of forests working a bit diffrently (Will come back to this in a second), you could use some carts only on some biomes like cacti on desert and such, add cards specificaly for expanding how many cards you receive in each turn, rivers maybe being only placable next to water, hills and marsh and such. When i said "Diffrent kinds of forests working diffrently" I ment as a Fruit tree forests giving more water, pine trees being a bit harder to colonize by humans but less harder than like shrubs. Bah even like Ponds when enough is close together they could form bigger water bodies like lakes and big lake and so on and forth. Aside the game for a second, I really like the art of the Nature Guardian that works as like a bootleg tutorial of sorts, i just simply love it not much to say, i wish UI and cards were more in such style then they are now in the generic like hell font and graphic. I really wish Developers will keep this idea of a game alive in their heads or atleast set for later on. As i'd love to see full out game like Dorfromantik or Terrascape (I really also recommend these games especially the Terrascape as its similar to this one in idea though its more casual and about planning a city build then eating a weaker foe up. But yeah ... TL;DR Game is not a game but a great concept for a full out indie game. I would love to see Devs work on such thing. Also luv the artist their great for what their doing
This is a good idea, with some strong bones. The visual style, sound design, minimal UI are all excellent. But there are numerous issues to address. The resources stop mattering almost immediately (turn 5-8) so there needs to be some re-balancing or scaling so that you have to manage your resources (good choice with two resources there must have been inclination to use one for simplicity). The uses for the resources are also very limited especially water there should be something else to use it for so even with balanced resource generation you still have choices on how to use it not just where to use it. The special cards are a good start but there needs to be more options maybe even going so far as to make this more of a deck builder (which also adds variety and replayability) It would make choices with them much more meaningful since you wouldn't always have the same cards to work with, and you couldn't just spam a card endlessly. It would allow for a great many more cards to be made and used but not clutter the screen or UI. The human progress seems pretty linear and doesn't seems to have almost no interactions, only a single card that sometimes can be used makes most of the game just a clicker to try to eventually win. A way or ways to manipulate the direction of human settling would give the players agency in the enemy moves rather than just in their own. Also making the humans scale would be good along with having their buildings each do something specific (and make sure the player knows what they do) These are just my initial general impressions as a fellow game dev graduate. I could go into more specifics but that would take forever and wouldn't necessarily be all that helpful without knowing the developers ideas and desired direction, since there are so many interesting direction you could take a game like this. I look forward to seeing where this goes in the future. There are also some weird game play bugs. You can't seem to click tiles while watching Netflix. And playing sequential games seems to have the same problem.
