Floody is an unusual hybrid endless-jumper and 2D retro pixel platform brawler. Gameplay consists of jumping upwards endlessly, creating platforms and brawling other players (there are no other players). There are no players, for reasons we'll get into below. There's a rising "Flood" (hence the uninspired name for this shovelware). Thus, as you jump endlessly upwards and brawl, your opponent will try to knock you into the flood. The match is won by whoever is the last left standing on a platform. The focus of the game is pure PvP, there's no single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the game. The vast majority of PvP-only games fail because they don't "go viral", and without players, or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game.It failed. SteamDB shows the game hit all-time peak player numbers just after launch, with only a tiny True concurrent users, which is a pitiful number, and now the game has nobody playing at all, just a one or two people logging on every week or so then quickly deleting the game when they see how bad it is and deleting it. Why did this fail so hard? From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. PC gamers will be insulted by the presence of console peasant children's toy controller prompts, despite this being on PC. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this game was never accepted on the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Floody has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for playing 5 levels, and only around 8 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 4 players. That's right, only 4. This is a pitiful enough number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is remarkable, but also to be expected. This complete and utter rejection of the game from gamers should be a keen information point for anyone considering buying shovelware like this. Gamers just didn't take this seriously, and for good reason. Floody has the insane price of around $6 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.

This game is much funner than it looks. Feels like platform version of Mario Kart. I first played this game with friends in office and laughing too loud ... Hope to see more maps and characters. It would be sad if a game like this could not reach a wider audience. Highly recommended here. Hope to see expansions of this early access version.
Cute hand painted visuals and a very interesting platform battle mechanic. This game is great to try out for a game night with a couple of friends! Basically you try to build up and try to keep your friends below where the encroaching waves kill those too slow. There's multiple items you can get and use to change the platforms and hinder your opponents. An in-game tutorial is lacking but you can just watch the 2nd video on the store page for a tutorial with some good tips for advance gameplay. I'd recommend it as it's great with a couple of friends!
Floody is a 2D platformer party indie game where you have to build the stage with your friends and be the last one standing on the platforms. Among the many recent indie games I have played, I think this one is actually fine. The idea of them game itself is quite original, but it has many flaws. It is not playable online even though it is promoted for that. It is missing a lot of QOL features and development. The gameplay is very repetitive. The achievements go against the PvP concept of the game. 5/10.
