Fling with a Tiefling is a charming yet fleeting visual novel that offers a cozy, romantic escape, though it’s not without its shortcomings. Set under a starlit sky, you spend a single, enchanting evening by the campfire with Karrus, a charismatic and witty Tiefling whose charm draws you into a brief but meaningful connection. The game lets you shape the romance through choices, adding a personal touch to the story, but the limited decision points can feel restrictive, offering only a handful of paths that may leave you wanting deeper narrative branching. The writing is tender and heartfelt, capturing the quiet magic of a one-night encounter, yet at times it leans heavily on familiar romantic tropes, which might feel predictable to seasoned visual novel players. The voice acting is exceptional, infusing Karrus with vibrant personality, though the limited cast means fewer interactions to flesh out the world. The evocative soundtrack, with its gentle melodies and ambient tones, perfectly enhances the intimate fireside atmosphere, but the music loops can become noticeable during the short playtime. At roughly 20 minutes, the game’s brevity is both a strength and a weakness—while it suits the free price tag and delivers a polished, emotionally resonant experience, its short length may leave players craving more depth or a longer-lasting story. Additionally, the lack of replayability, due to minimal variation in outcomes, might disappoint those hoping for more reasons to revisit. Despite these flaws, Fling with a Tiefling remains a delightful, bite-sized adventure for visual novel fans and newcomers alike, offering a warm, fleeting romance that shines brightly, even if it doesn’t linger long. Visual Novel Score 4 Tieflings out of 10

Pending any DMCA takedown, this product is likely to be removed from Steam.
"Fling with a Tiefling" is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This e-book follows the typical plotline for most garbage Steam e-books, it's about the authors imaginary boyfriend. The problem (apart from the pure, weaponised cringe) is that it's infringing on copyrights owned by Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast and their Dungeons & Dragons products. Let's ask the question... why does Pathfinder have no Tieflings, Illithids or Beholders? And the answer is: They're not part of the SRD, they're fictional creatures just like Pikachus that are a copyrighted component of a custom set of literature. Much like I can't legally publish books about Optimus Prime, Pikachu, or Donald Duck (because these are copyrighted works and I do not have permission from the copyright owner to create derivative works), so too, people can't write garbage for-profit fan-fictions about Forgotten Realms, Elminster or Dragonlance... because these are all protected by international copyright law. Worse, this copyright infringement is cringey enough to make you throw up in your mouth. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 130 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at only 3 concurrent readers... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. The funny thing is, if you wanted to print this book, you'd only need to print 3 copies to satisfy the entire world's demand for it. Worse, the developer has their hand out for a whopping $6 USD for "donations" for the soundtrack and garbage drawings in an artbook... trying to get YOUR money for someone else's intellectual property. I can hear the lawyers waking up already. It's important to note that, despite this being such a low quality product, there's a number of positive reviews that all appeared immediately after the game launched, from suspiciously inactive Steam accounts that have reviewed almost no other games apart from this. Take the review score of this game with a grain of salt.
Don't play this when you're heartbroken or sad The dialogues really got me Artwork is nice and the story is lovely, cute little game
Is this the most romantic and sensual visual novel game ever made? No idea as my experience was skip skip skip skip skip, woop achievements.
I went in expecting something different and was pleasantly surprised. Very short, but I'm freakin smitten. I read the notes in the "extra" menu, which helped put some context on the situation. If you're a BG3 fan, you'll love this. First off, the voice acting was phenomenal. OMFG, how can I fangirl over a 30 minute game?? I also really love how when you self-insert a name, Karrus has a nickname he uses instead- rather than the just silence or omittance often used in other VN games that have a voiced default name. If there was a star rating, I'd give this game a 6 out of 5 just for that alone. Great thinking on the dev's part. As usual, I gotta add a review for music, and even with the short novel, the music was perfect. I'd pay for a soundtrack. Just surprisingly and astonishingly amazing for a quick-thought up game. I'd pay for a full-fledged game surrounding the concept. Great job, dev!!
A sweet loving little novel. It's been pleasing reading this novel <3
Cute and simple VN. I loved the art style. The voice acting was fantastic, I mean seriously whoever voiced Karrus deserves an award. The unique endings added a nice layer of replayability. I just wish that there was more content, because I was really liking where the story was going.
I played it on stream a while back, and now I have it on Steam! Totally worth the play, I mean look at Karrus HELLO?? It's really nice to have something short, sweet, and inclusive to get you through the daily horrors.
