以为是纯爱游戏,没想到是恐怖游戏(甚至打出了NTR结局。。)
Set within a strange and emotionally charged world where physical intimacy without genuine love leads to spontaneous combustion, this narrative-driven adventure explores relationships, trust, memory, and emotional vulnerability through a deeply personal story. The game follows Yun, a talented young photographer trying to establish himself professionally while struggling to maintain his complicated relationship with his girlfriend, Chitra. As the new year approaches and tensions quietly build between them, both characters are forced to confront not only the state of their relationship, but also the emotional truths they have hidden from themselves and each other. Rather than telling its story through straightforward exposition alone, the game unfolds through exploration, memory reconstruction, and environmental storytelling. Players alternate between Yun and Chitra’s perspectives, gradually piecing together their relationship through objects, photographs, conversations, hidden clues, and fragments of the past scattered throughout their shared life. Everyday items become emotionally significant, and even small details hidden inside rooms or personal belongings can reveal deeper truths about the characters’ fears, desires, and unresolved conflicts. By allowing players to witness events from both perspectives, the narrative constantly challenges assumptions and encourages empathy toward each character’s emotional struggles. One of the game’s most distinctive mechanics revolves around the creation of a photobook for Chitra. As Yun, players select photographs that reflect meaningful moments from their relationship, but the chosen images also influence the memories and emotions Chitra revisits later in the story. This system gives emotional weight to seemingly ordinary decisions, transforming photography into both a storytelling device and a representation of memory itself. The act of choosing what moments deserve to be preserved becomes central to understanding the fragile connection between the two protagonists. The world itself contains a mysterious “Second Layer,” a hidden perspective that reveals how the characters truly perceive their surroundings and emotions beneath the surface. Through this mechanic, ordinary locations transform into surreal reflections of fear, longing, guilt, or affection. Hidden objects and visual distortions within this layer provide insight into emotional states that the characters cannot openly express. This feature not only strengthens the game’s atmosphere but also deepens the psychological storytelling by blurring the line between reality and emotional perception. Puzzle-solving and interactive mini-games are woven naturally into the narrative progression rather than feeling disconnected from the story. Players may search for hidden objects, reconstruct memories, solve symbolic puzzles, or complete emotionally themed activities that reveal additional information about the characters and the world they inhabit. These gameplay elements help maintain engagement while reinforcing the emotional and psychological themes at the center of the experience. Instead of relying on action or combat, the game builds tension through discovery, interpretation, and emotional uncertainty. The relationship between Yun and Chitra serves as the emotional core of the story. Their interactions feel intimate and believable because the narrative focuses heavily on the small moments that define long-term relationships: misunderstandings, unspoken resentment, quiet affection, emotional distance, and the fear of losing someone despite loving them deeply. The game constantly explores the idea that love can both heal and destroy, especially in a world where emotions carry literal life-or-death consequences. This gives every conversation and decision a lingering sense of emotional danger beneath the surface. Atmosphere plays an enormous role throughout the experience. The game balances realism with surreal emotional symbolism, creating environments that feel grounded while still carrying an underlying sense of mystery and unease. The approaching midnight deadline and the arrival of the new year add additional emotional pressure, giving the story a constant feeling that something irreversible is about to happen. As secrets emerge and emotional truths become harder to ignore, the narrative gradually shifts from romantic drama into psychological mystery. Replay value is strengthened by the inclusion of three alternate endings, each shaped by the player’s choices and interpretations throughout the story. Decisions involving memories, photographs, puzzle outcomes, and emotional interactions all contribute to determining how the relationship ultimately concludes. This branching structure encourages players to reconsider earlier assumptions and explore different emotional paths between the two protagonists. The soundtrack also contributes heavily to the game’s identity. Music from Malaysian bands mutesite and Golden Mammoth gives the experience a distinct emotional atmosphere, blending melancholy, intimacy, and tension into the unfolding narrative. The soundtrack supports quieter reflective scenes just as effectively as moments of emotional confrontation, helping the game maintain its immersive tone from beginning to end. At its heart, the game is less about supernatural rules and more about the emotional fragility of human connection. It uses its unusual premise as a metaphor for the dangers of intimacy, emotional dishonesty, and unresolved pain within relationships. Through dual perspectives, symbolic storytelling, interactive exploration, and emotionally driven gameplay systems, the experience creates a thoughtful and haunting examination of love, memory, and the fear of losing someone who once felt irreplaceable. Rating: 7/10

Very atmospheric game with a bizarre plot. Very well done depiction of the communication issues between a couple. Very nice artwork. Immersive game with a lot of ambiance. The main narrative, however, and the depiction of the dystopian world was a bit too absurd though.
Bold way of storytelling that transcends how narrative is being presented in modern day video games. Very art house. Not for everyone. But do take the time to sit down and listen to the story of two uncertain lovers as they struggle to explore themselves and each other.
This game is very story rich and goes in a lot of unexpected directions, I went into this game without even watching the trailer/gameplay so I really wasn't sure what to expect but I'm happy I got to play it. There's some replayability as there are 3 different endings to explore, each one with a different path. The music is great which is an extra good thing in this case as there is no voice acting. If you're looking for a casual game with a unique story to try I think this one is a perfect choice to check out.
Worth a look! This story has a lot of messed up stuff going for it. I can't say any of the characters are redeeming, but it was fun to see how the story progressed. Music is awesome. Graphics are pretty good. Sometimes they feel a bit like a hidden object game, but otherwise they are fine. I'm surprised it wasn't covered more. It's creative for sure! Could use a better skip feature once completed, but that's okay.
As a Malaysian, I'm really proud of this production! What a nice story line and interaction to immerse yourself into this game. Hope there's a speed run for the script when replaying.
I Can't Fix Her: The Game
Fires At Midnight is a visual novel with point-and-click elements. It's more like a movie than a traditional VN, and the point-and-click mechanic introduces a lot of environmental storytelling. Every character is completely psycho, for better or worse, so your mileage will vary — it's definitely not a nerd romance, but more like a European art film where everyone has issues. Cons

Writing is a bit jank and non-native at times (comma usage, etc.).
Minor lack of polish throughout (text scrolls too fast, not enough sounds, buttons clickable during transitions, potentially some bugs when holding space to skip).
Pros

Bold storytelling, especially in the endings. I expected something much more generic.
Good pacing. There's enough story for 5-7.5 hrs, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.
Lots of environmental storytelling, so it doesn't feel like "just another VN."
Bittersweet rock music.
The game was worth the time I spent on it. I really can't relate to the characters, so I don't think the story will stick with me for too long, but they're realistic in their own way. I get what the devs were trying to do. It's a unique story that blends Y2K anxiety with pandemic-era anxiety, and it's worth a shot if you enjoy art films or point-and-clicks. (Bonus points for the reference to Dog Star Man — haven't heard that name since university a decade ago, and I wouldn't have remembered it if the game hadn't jogged my memory).
Amazing la, i wasn't expecting such good interesting quality game but it exceeded my expectation by miles. The layer thing with the mouse is a very nice immersive way that makes the game easier to complete which allows the user to focus on the story. Digital art was also very well done. good job guys i bought this game and also for my friend. both she and i love it
