Honestly... they messed this game up so badly... I'm a diehard fan played the original multiples of times completely through. They could have simply enhanced the graphics of the original and changed nothing else and it would have been peak. This... this is just aggravation in an era when you shouldn't have aggravation. When I'm done with this remake I'll never come back I'll just play the original again. Pros - Graphics, voice acting, some quality of life Cons - gameplay is somehow worse than PS1 from 1997, combat is awful and the option to revert it to 'classic' is honestly the most misleading shiz in gaming I've ever seen. Get used to having a party of 3 people where the 2 inactive party members do literally nothing for most of the fights until you switch to them.
Overall - Good game, good remake Pros: Graphics, FF7 Nostalgia, some iconic bosses/moments from Midgard arc in FF7 Combat System is fun Pacing is good, story changes were interesting enough to make you wanna play the next one Cons: Platforming/Puzzle elements don't work well, Game force feeds you hints via NPC dialogue Some animations/cutscenes are slow but they do give you a 1.5x or 2x fastforward button Encountered a bug several times where the entire screen was flashbanged and I had to save/reload to fix
too many videos. i want play a game and not watch a movie. too many camera locks. too many slow and stupid talk (while fighting). confusion in fight, no order, no line. always 0 atb at fight start makes it even worse. no real keyboard+mouse option or logic default keybinds for them.
this pice of crap will ruin every fun in gaming with the final missions. The storry of the original FF7 was good and engaging, This pice here just assumes everything is known and you will fill in the gaps of storytellig on your own. It overexplain stupid stuff like what to do next every corner, but will never explain you the overarching story of the world. I finaly got worn down by the useless fighting mechanics and repeatedly fighting the same boss enemies for the fourth time in the same fight ... just so the game wins a few more minutes of time with stupid grinding and boring cutscenes without content. Halve the time you will not even be allowed to skip this boring mess, but will have to sit trough this crap again and again, just because you forgot to press a butten in another fight at just the right moment. Thanks for ruining a gamers classic with this boring, uninspireing and unengaging pice of crap. At least the techical side worked .. the uninstall button in steam worked fine too.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is the first Final Fantasy game that I have played and completed. I have not experienced the classic PlayStation version, so I can't compare it to the 2022 version. The game took me about 32 hours to complete on my first and only play through. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has stunning cinematic action, action-packed gameplay, and a world that I am already falling in love with. Cloud Strife is an absolute badass, and I can see why he's so popular. Midgar as a setting is magical, and I was devastated at the climactic moment where Sector 7's slums get decimated. There's so much to this setting that I love, its mixture of technology, magic, industrial, and fantasy components. I really enjoyed the story because I quickly became invested in Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith's desire to bring down the Shinra Electric Company. The story is mostly interesting, but has moments where it sags, and then other moments where I just wanted to keep seeing where the main story went next. The Wall Market chapter in particular was slow, since it's mostly fetch quests. Despite that, I found the narrative rich and engrossing because the characters and the world are so lovely. The cast of characters is large, but they're all interesting. I loved how we picked up teammates as the story went along. Red XIII came into the story near the end and is now one of my favorites. I must say I don't know exactly what the ending of this first part means. Sephiroth keeps appearing to torment Cloud's sanity, and I don't necessarily understand his endgame, but I do know the epic battle near the end is merely the first of many battles to come. Sephiroth is very intimidating and commanding, but I need to know how he ties into Cloud's past and why he's so powerful. The gameplay was a tad challenging for me to get into, but that's not an issue with the game itself — it was just new to me. The mixture of hack and slash, materia, items, and commanding and playing as your teammates is really fascinating. There's a learning curve, but if you take the time to read the hints and plan, the huge combos leading to massive enemy staggers are hugely satisfying. The gameplay really began to click for me near the end, around chapter 16 and beyond. That's when I was getting the most hits and fun after I took the time to plan which materia, weapons, and quick shortcuts were best for each character. I loved playing as Tifa, Barret, and Aerith. Tifa and Barret were my favorites because of their rapid hits and shots. I was able to complete most of the side quests on my first play through. Fair warning: the side quests can be repetitive, but they're not dull. I played the game on Steam Deck OLED, and it ran mostly great. I capped the visuals and performance settings and never had a lesser experience. Quite frankly, on occasion I couldn't believe the vistas and scope the SD OLED was able to pump out. The game has many cutscenes that are stunning to see. The music is phenomenal. It ties into each moment of the story in a beautiful way. The voice acting is top-tier. The whole cast's voice work is stellar. I don't have any complaints there. I can see why FF VII is one of the most beloved entries in the series now. Anyone who likes story-driven games with a beautiful cast of characters and a world you'll be eager to explore should play this. I'd gladly rate this game an 8.5 out of 10. I'm going to keep an eye out for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
I really wanted to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, but it just wasn't for me. The game leans far too heavily into long story sequences and dialogue, leaving me wishing I was actually playing more often. Much of the story didn't hold my interest, and the combat never evolved into anything particularly engaging. It was easy enough that auto-combat handled most encounters, making Materia feel largely unnecessary. Most battles ended so quickly that I rarely had the opportunity to use summons, which made them feel like wasted potential. The game also includes several design choices that became frustrating over time. Friendly character collision while moving around is surprisingly annoying, and the forced overland tasks felt like uninspired filler rather than meaningful gameplay. While I appreciate the production quality and understand why longtime fans love it, I came away disappointed. I'm hoping the second and third installments raise the difficulty, make combat more strategic, and put a greater emphasis on gameplay over lengthy storytelling.
Absolutely terrible. Some incredibly frustrating boss fights and red's voice change finally broke me and I couldn't finish it. This game shat on a lifelong love of FF7.
You the player are forced to have cloud in a dress. That's how degenerate, detached, and deluded this "remake" of ff7 is. It should be a dungeon crawler. Instead, it's a fill in the blank fantasy. IDK wtf this this. But it's not FF7.

A trial in frustration Combat is really quite bad. Sure its fun to watch and play most of the time. But occasionally and often during encounters youd rather be done with, this game takes a ride to suck town. So many bosses and mechanics that are just terrible, Rufus, Motor Ball, Leslies Quest literally any flying enemy in the game...All just frustrating cause you cant hit them. What is this combat system? Is the best the game designers can do is just "Oh the boss cant be attacked for awhile run around and passively gain ATB so you can heal or restart from the beginning" Thats ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ trash. Rufus is a great example, you are just supposed to know which ability staggers him? Cool thanks, love that trial and error(especially when you cant melee rufus normally. thanks love that really helps for experimenting and learning the fight) Why is there a dodge in this game? It has no iframes why is it here?? Are you joking square? Its not like its way faster than just running out so why is it here??? Oh its an RPG? Then let me use abilities and cast spells freely this half hearted RPG/Action game is really not tuned well I hope to god REBIRTH is better. Because man this game really hits some low points in terms of combat and encounter design. The characters are the best part of this game. The story and the pacing however is atrocious, honestly how do you make a game with random encounters feel like its got better pacing? That's astonishing! The OG is far better paced in terms of plot and story. If we could take the mechanics and pacing of the OG game and insert it into this one with its updated visuals and improved charaterization itd be 10/10 but sadly its not. Its really REALLY fun when it works. but when it doesnt jesus christ is it just beyond frustrating. 6/10 Play it on story mode i guess, hope rebirth is better.
