Overall, if you can overlook the excessive variety of minigames, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is still a great game. It truly evokes a lot of nostalgia for veteran players while significantly expanding upon the original storyline, allowing for a deeper understanding of the characters (even the less important supporting ones). Several story segments are quite touching and highly memorable. Conversely, however, the overwhelming number of minigames ultimately detracts a lot from the overall experience, and the repetitive nature of the map exploration tasks becomes quite frustrating later on.

DEFFO RECOMMEND if u like ff7 as a whole. combat is soo more much fun than ff7 remake with all the new mechanics such as synergy abilities + new characters. story is straightforward and amazing imo, one of the main 3 highlights of the game (characters, story and combat)
side stuff brings the game down tho (CHADLEY he just doesnt shut the ♥♥♥♥ up and intrudes ur experience way too much) the world intel is so repetitive its so easy to burn yourself out if ur the type to complete everything (like i was the first time i played it, got fed up at gongaga). PLUS whenever u complete a world intel task you literally cannot move until all the popups are gone and it pisses me off so much i cant even explain. protorelics and side quests i like bcz they can be funny at times but everything else in the world is straight ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and needs to be changed for revelation. I LOVE QUEENS BLOOD THO BEST MINIGAME EVER. what i recommend is doing whatever shows up on ur compass instead of doing world intel point to point, made the game more enjoyable for me (or just dont do it at all).
performance seems to be a hit or miss, for me it runs great (with the engine tweaks mod but i dont think that changed much anyway)
AND I 100% RECOMMEND DOWNLOADING THE SHADER INJECTOR MOD!!! it upgrades the visuals by a TON and thats not even an exaggeration, it removes the horrible brightness and adds a whole lot of depth to the overworld by adding new shadows n bunch of other stuff. it doesnt have a noticable performance impact either.
anyway yeah get it whenever its on sale was my goty for 2024

I have always loved the Final Fantasy series. I love that this game works well on SteamDeck and on PC. I have really enjoyed the updates to FF7 and can't wait for the third.
