Game's heckin fun, 8/10 from me. It's just classic chess, with a few added twists. My only complaints are that some of the pieces seem a bit overtuned, while others feel undertuned. I don't know why I'd ever use a Picket when I start with two Bishops on my account. On the other hand the Chancellor and the Saint for example are extremely hard to deal with. Combining Knights' moves with Rooks and Bishops feels bad when you're on the receiving end. With that said, I don't feel like the game was meant to be taken as seriously as actual chess, and for what it is it's very enjoyable. My last complaint is there's so few people to play with. I've spent about 5 hours playing today, grinding for new pieces, and I've run into one other human. Game would be a 9/10 from me if it had a community. At least the game automatically puts you against A.I. if it takes long enough (like 10 seconds) but the A.I. isn't the brightest, even on higher settings.
i wish there was a campain and more challenges. i'm not big on PvP but i would loved to challenges and more with those intresting pieces

Of course it's similar to Chess Evolved Online, and it has less units and a few different quirks like the reinforcement row and special abilities. But it does let you fight against AI, and it feels more like a game that you can master and beat eventually, whereas Chess Evolved can feel daunting and infinite. Originally I was going to leave a negative review and ask why you would play a game if a better version of it exists, but sometimes you'd rather eat a Wendy's hamburger over a home-cooked one. That might also be why we have an obesity problem, but whatever.
An interesting game if you have friends to play with. The new pieces offer a new chessexperience. Overall a really nice game.
I like this chess variant. There ate many fairy chess piece.
I'm not very good at chess and that has (sadly) carried over here. Despite that, I still enjoy the gameplay, the unique AI, and the ability to build an army!
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no viably populated servers/active player population. This game cannot be played as intended.

Warning: In-Game Cash Shop This game is infested with a toxic mobile app style cash shop. You will be prompted to and expected to give money/credit card details to the developers through this cash shop to buy in-game goods so you can play the game.
At face value, when you get into Favor Chess (and do nothing because there are no players), you might think this was just another attempt from an amateur developer to "fix" all the problems with Chess. And we know, every single time an amateur developer tries to do this, that Chess doesn't have any problems that need to be fixed. But then you get into it and see it's just another garbage cash shop with a game stapled onto it. If you do try to play this, which you can't really, it's full of bugs, lacks polish, and has a weak technical delivery (moght as well be a browser game). The way the developer tried to "fix" Chess here was by adding lots of pieces with different moves, and you make your own chess army from those various pieces. The pieces aren't all that interesting, and some of them are bugged and don't even work. Worse, the game tries to make you "grind" to drive you to the cash shop to unlock pieces! Disgusting! So, "Favor Chess" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful single player content. The developer gambled that other players would be an acceptable substitute for adding storytelling, level design etc to the Game. They lost that bet. Without a huge community of players or single player content to add a lasting value to the game, the game dies. Developers must learn that other players are not an acceptable substitute for adding content to a game. For gameplay purposes, because the user interface for this game is mostly just 2D static text/images... it might as well be a web page. It's functionally no different from a browser game. And we all know, Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. If the game can be done in a web browser, it's just not rich or compelling enough to appeal to serious gamers on PC. The game features really lacklustre 2D visuals (does the developer not know 3D graphics became mainstream in the mid-1990s?). Gamers don't spend thousands of dollars on gaming rigs and the latest 3D graphics cards to play 2D games. Even mobile phones and game consoles can do 3D graphics now. There's no excuse. This game is fairly dated at 7 years old... and even back then it looked old and busted compared to contemporary, professionally made 3D games of the same period. It looked bad then, it looks worse now. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This isn't really free because there's a garbage cash shop. The idea that someone would try to cash in on the public domain Chess game is reprehensible. It's also reprehensible when developers abuse the "free" section of Steam to push mobile app cash shops like the developer here tried to do. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 10 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. All other issues aside (any of which would disqualify this from being worth your time), this is a game that relies on other players for it to be viable, and because there's not enough players, it's not viable. I can't recommend anyone downloads this, it's basically dead.
A fun twist on a classic game! If you like chess and haven't tried this yet, GET ON IT! With all new pieces you can build your army YOUR way.
Bem divertido para jogar com os amigo, especialmente por poder usar peças diferentes.
I am a chess fan, but this felt boring.
