I want to preface this by saying that this was my very first playthrough right after Fallout 3. Before this, i had only played FO4 on playstation and had no idea about the franchise at all. Now that i have a good gaming laptop i could finally run these types of games.
A much longer game than Fallout 3, but was missing a lot of the usual fallout vibe if you ask me. I know this is people's favourite game of the series but it was quite... different? It felt more like a fallout spin-off than belonging in the fallout series as a genuine follow-up. Then again, i am playing the series from a different point of view since my journey started with f04, years ago. Mechanics are obviously better than Fo3 but that is to be expected.
Problems:
- No incentive to explore the map, other than going to key-points of the story and getting caps which also becomes obsolete when you have found your favourite type of gun and decide to have a million copies of them so you can repair when needed.
- None of the vaults felt important to me.
- None of the radiation felt important to me, it wasn't as much of a risk at all.
- I find the lore to be complicated sometimes, and other times it is rushed. Such as in the DLC's, i find with Zion & the Think Tank for example that the quests were extremely rushed. I loved the start of it, or the concept, but it was rushed. I think Sierra Madre was a good length with good new mechanics, and introduction.
First Playthrough choice: My first faction choice was Mr. House because honestly, i didn't trust anyone anymore. Atleast this rich weirdo is honest about using me.
