*Fallen Ninja*, developed by VS Resolution and published by My Way Games, is a modest action-adventure title that leans on a familiar fantasy premise and straightforward gameplay structure. You step into the role of a lone ninja tasked with hunting down a recurring antagonist and reclaiming stolen treasures across a series of stages. It’s a setup that immediately communicates its goals—clear enemies, clear objectives, and a consistent loop—but the experience that unfolds feels more like a simple framework than a fully developed adventure. The game’s structure is built around repeating missions that follow the same basic pattern. Each level asks you to move through a contained environment, defeat enemies along the way, locate the central target, and retrieve key items before progressing. This loop is easy to understand and doesn’t require much onboarding, which makes the game accessible from the start. However, the downside of this clarity is that it rarely evolves. Once you’ve completed a few stages, you’ve effectively seen the core of what the game has to offer, with later levels relying more on repetition than meaningful expansion. Combat is functional but limited in scope. You have access to melee attacks with your sword and ranged options through a bow, including different types of arrows. While this gives the impression of flexibility, the actual encounters tend to play out in a predictable way. Enemies do not demand significantly different strategies, and most fights can be handled with the same approach throughout the game. Boss encounters are intended to add variety, but because they revolve around the same recurring opponent, they begin to feel familiar rather than climactic. There are moments where the combat can feel satisfying—especially when chaining attacks or clearing groups of enemies—but these moments are not supported by enough depth to remain engaging over time. Exploration adds a small layer of variety, with levels containing hidden items and collectibles that encourage players to look beyond the main path. These elements provide a sense of optional discovery and give completion-minded players something extra to pursue. The environments themselves vary in theme, ranging from natural landscapes to more enclosed, dungeon-like spaces, which helps break up the visual monotony. However, the level design is fairly straightforward, lacking the complexity or interactivity that would make exploration feel truly rewarding. Instead, it often feels like a checklist of items to find rather than a world to meaningfully engage with. Progression is another area where the game remains static. There is little in the way of character development or evolving abilities, meaning that your capabilities at the start are largely the same as they are at the end. While this keeps the experience simple and avoids overwhelming the player, it also removes a key sense of growth that many action-adventure games rely on. Without new skills, upgrades, or meaningful changes to gameplay, the experience can feel repetitive, as there is little incentive to approach situations differently as you progress. Visually, *Fallen Ninja* reflects its indie roots. The environments are varied enough to provide some visual interest, but the overall presentation lacks consistency in polish. Character animations and combat feedback can feel stiff, which impacts how responsive the game feels during action sequences. While there is a clear attempt to create a cohesive fantasy aesthetic, the execution doesn’t always match the ambition, resulting in a presentation that feels serviceable but not particularly memorable. Despite these limitations, the game does have a certain straightforward charm. Its simplicity makes it easy to pick up and play, and there’s a degree of satisfaction in completing levels and collecting everything they have to offer. For players looking for a low-commitment experience without complex systems or steep learning curves, it can provide a few hours of light entertainment. However, that same simplicity is also what holds it back, as it prevents the game from building momentum or offering a deeper sense of engagement. In the end, *Fallen Ninja* is a game that delivers a clear and uncomplicated action loop but struggles to expand on it in meaningful ways. It offers brief moments of enjoyment through its combat and exploration, but its repetitive structure and lack of progression make it difficult to sustain interest for long. It feels less like a fully realized adventure and more like a foundation that could have benefited from further development and refinement. Rating: 5./10

However, my expectations were still somewhat higher than what this game delivered. Essentially, it seems to be a collection of very basic AI and a few levels haphazardly put together. Prior to delving into the gameplay mechanics, it's crucial to highlight the game's core issue - the optimization. Despite using a rig capable of smoothly running the latest triple-A titles, I could only manage around 20 FPS, a clear indication of the game's lack of thoughtful design. At times, the game would randomly cease to respond to any user input except the movement keys, necessitating a level restart to resolve the issue.

🔷 The game further frustrated me with its tedious combat mechanics. Despite featuring only two weapons, the sword and the bow, the latter proved entirely dysfunctional. Even a quick view of the developer's trailer on the Steam store page would reveal that the arrows do not effectively damage the enemies. Additionally, when using the sword, my character frequently failed to execute attacks despite pressing the corresponding key.

🔶 Each level in this game revolves around defeating the boss, named "Mordenai," and subsequently locating the treasure chest, which essentially marks the endpoint of the level. Lacking any storyline, the significance of the treasure chest remains unclear. Despite the optimization issues, some levels do boast impressive visuals. It's evident that the developers prioritized realism in the game's design, seemingly without giving due consideration to optimization during the development process. The game is so broken in its current state that pressing the Escape button simply sends you to the main menu instead of pausing the game. With no video settings available, there is no way to improve the FPS.

🔶 I'm uncertain how these developers consistently find such tedious soundtracks for their games. After enduring the game for about 10 minutes, I decided to mute it.

📝 Main Pros and Cons:
Pros-

There’s nothing good about this game.
Cons-

Unoptimized.
Poor combat mechanics.
Filled with game-breaking bugs.
Poor level-design.

😇 Honest Rating:

🔷 It's evident that this game is merely a mishmash of assets pieced together. There seems to be no way to fix this mess, so I strongly advise avoiding this game at all costs.

Rating: 2.5/10
Reviewer: Sha My poor GPU.
《Fallen Ninja》
Fallen Ninja is like that one ninja at the party who's way too funny to be stealthy. I expected the usual brooding shadows and silent takedowns, but what I got instead was a hilarious ninja slapstick show that kept me laughing the whole time. The game doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s what makes it so fun. The mix of stealth and comedic elements creates a unique experience that you won't find in most ninja-themed games. If you're looking for a ninja game that's light-hearted, full of laughs, and doesn't require you to be the brooding assassin, this is the one to try. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for something fun and unexpected!

This game can really use some work, before it is worthy for sale. Just because a game is made to be sold for cheap doesn't mean that you should slap it together and sell it. Bottom line, this game needs work and more polish.
