Very charming indie.
Despite the fact that I've only managed to beat the game once (and when I had the cards upgraded), this is a fun game - the different characters each have distinct characteristics, and there's lots of creative ways to build decks (even if I am largely unsuccessful at this!) Quirky art design and music that sticks in your head!

It tries to mimic StS a bit too much without adding any new twists to the formula that has been replicated many times. In fact, some of the cards and enemies are a bit too close to the cards in StS. That being said, the wizard class was much more interesting to play, as it has a completely new resource and cards that demand it. The monk class tries to do something unique too, but I found the concept to simple to demand interesting decisions from the player. I wished more classes were as original as the Wizard to help the game stand out more. Another issue is that the game is a roguelike, but there are too few enemy types and interesting relics for it to feel different each time. This could be because of the EA access or due to the smaller scope that comes with the very decent price tag. Unfortunately, roguelikes need content for them to work and the variety simply isn't there - yet. Unfortunately, it isn't quick either, as there are many fights to slog through and it gets exhausting to reach the single existing boss. I will say that I do think the card play itself is good, and there are cards that let you choose more cards during the battle which was fun to play with. The events are all positive, which is frankly a good change and something that I'd like to see more of in other games. Ultimately, a smaller (but not shorter) version of StS will not be attractive to veteran players, while new players will probably play StS first. I hope as the development progresses it will be able to differentiate more from StS and lean more unto its more unique ideas.
The positive
+ Good card play and some interesting cards.
The neutral
* Some card concepts are not explained through the tooltips. * The music was very distracting and had to turn it off for my playthoughs.
The negative
- Too many fights that are also drawn out due to many enemies having spikes. This means you have to wait until you get block, attack once, and repeat next turn. This seriously impacts the length of battles in a negative way. - While there are some original ideas, there is a lot of "been there, done that"
Conclusion:
While affordable, it currently does not offer anything new to experienced players. This game is great fun, tonnes of replayability and lots of content. Really great to see the game develop throughout early access and the developer has been very active. Haven't really noticed any bugs and I've finished the game a few times now. Well worth a play!
