About
EvilTrap: Prologue is a standalone psychological-horror experience that introduces the world, tone, and terror behind the upcoming full game.
This short chapter invites you into a sinister village that wants to keep you trapped forever. The environment shifts as you move, and the atmosphere tightens with every step. This prologue opens the door to an evil that you thought had ended... but it is just the beginning.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
An Oppressive Atmosphere: The environment is built to feel heavy and sinister as you explore the village.
Micro-scares & Jumpscares: Using the same logic from my previous game, Horror Story: Hallowseed, this prologue features a mix of scripted moments and dynamic events to keep you on edge.
The Constant Fear System: Experience a groundbreaking sensory technology that transcends traditional sound design.
Physiological Immersion: Unlike standard horror games, EvilTrap utilizes a proprietary system that triggers instinctive biological responses, simulating the feeling of being watched.
Dynamic Stress Feedback: Feel your own heart rate reflected in the world around you. The environment's "pulse" accelerates as your panic rises, blurring the line between the game and reality.
Mystery First: I have carefully hidden the plot to avoid spoilers. You will experience a fraction of the mechanics and story, keeping the full nightmare in total secrecy while giving you a glimpse of the entities involved.
A Focused Experience: A short, intense horror atmosphere designed to be completed in one sitting. Easy and simple, just to give you a free taste of what is to come.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
This is a one-man project. This prologue is a free entry point to the EvilTrap universe, intended to showcase the mood of the game, not to deliver a full-length AAA experience. If you enjoy atmospheric indie horror with a personal touch and a deep respect for the mystery, you are in the right place.
100% Solo Dev: No AI-generated content. I code and develop everything myself. This is a one-man project from start to finish.

It need enhanced settings options, and with no ducking or jumping, it makes me feel confined. it does look and play great. it could use some interesting puzzles, I guess we'll have to wait and see what the finished games turns out like. my demo playthrough: https://youtu.be/LtTf2RFIX4c

i couldnt see anything or really figure out where i was going for the first 7 minutes of playing. Once i finally starting getting it it just felt like i was walking through a maze with random things happening for no reason. just not my cup of tea personally.
I appreciate the effort and sharing this free to get a taste of what's coming. The premise sounds really promising as well and there's clearly some effort to creating some atmosphere. There's two major things though that keep this from being a recommend for me and I hope the developer takes the following as meant in good spirit as from past experience I know how tough making a game is. The level design is very confusing and feels like a maze in an arbitrary way at the moment. There were at least three points in the prologue where I wasn't sure where exactly to go, and the fact that everything looks the same without many distinctive landmarks or textures made this more apparent. Eventually I stumbled into the optimal path, but between the pacing coming to a stop due to this confusion or the circular paths to then move carts really slowly... it felt like someone was deliberately trying to make the longest path possible through this village and it soured immersion. There were performance issues and some clunky movement and inputs, but the fact is that's very likely just my aging potato acting up and I'd never hold that against the game. What IS not ideal is that this is clearly the dev build of your game that you've put up as a prologue. At all times red debug text was visible on the top left, as well as the debug command prompt was available for me to play around with at my leisure since I knew the commands. I don't have a nice way of saying this man, but that's a bad look, don't do that. It breaks immersion and means you're not showing players the best version of what this prologue can be. I would update it with a proper production build. I feel bad coming down on this when there's clearly some effort and heart here, but I don't think the things I'm bringing up are unreasonable to say could really turn players off and should be looked into. best of luck to you on the game and again thanks for sharing this and going for it.
