Esoteric Ebb

Esoteric Ebb is a witty, well-written CRPG with clear and well used inspiration from Disco Elysium that really captures the feeling of a small stakes D&D campaign. This game is hilarious, heartfelt and clearly made with a lot of love and attention to detail. A fantastic game that I can strongly recommend anyone who enjoyed D&D or is just looking to scratch that DE itch.

I overall do not recommend this game - the pointedness of the political messaging turns what could've been a great game into another banal piece of media that rehashes the same superficial political and cultural questions we've been debating for the past decade. Perhaps there is potential for a game to pull off approaching these questions in an engaging and novel way. But the essence of the game tilts nakedly into one side of those questions that leaves the game feeling stale and predictable.

엔딩을 보고나서 느낀 점은 정치 종교 우정 사랑이 다 들어있는데 이걸 한마디로 표현한게 이 게임의 제목이지 않을까.. 싶은 그런 기분이 드네요 내가 놓쳤던 경로를 알려주었어도 기억할수 있을진 모르겠지만 다회차 충분히 할만하다는 생각이 드네요

Fantastic game that wears its inspirations on its sleeve! So much love poured into this world and characters, with clearly so much more to tell. I hope (unlike Disco Elysium RIP) that this developer gets to make many more games and tell thousands of stories in this strange, weird and "esoteric" world they've made. I know I will be there day one! #WeCrackingTheSphinx

Disco Elysium meets D&D. Funny, clever, heartfelt, weird - everything a good campaign should be. I loved my Cleric and his conversations with his Abilities (very Disco Elysium). Molding him into a character was really fun, even when I was indecisive about his path. Snell is great, Ettir is great (and hot). The illustrated visuals are great, the music is great. Just a good, well-written game. My only real gripe is the exhausting amount of text you need to read. I did skip a lot of it, especially the more political stuff, and still managed to understand what was going on and who's who and what I should do. Just SO MUCH READING! But as I said – it's written very well and interesting to read. Most of the time.
