ESCAPE FROM 8-12

I'm positively surprised by this one. It offers the classic anomaly spotting experience - Once again, the pinnacle gameplay loop of [i]moving forward when we don't spot any anomalies (in ESCAPE FROM 8-12, it's the emergency exit)[/i], and [b]backwards if we do spot anomalies.[/b] The game pretty much left out any ambiance without ending up feeling empty. I felt the tension rising by anticipation after learning that at any moment, a jumpscare could be waiting around the corner. This concept of creating tension without abusing ambiance or sound cues is always fascinating. Usually what happens when a game lacks those elements, is that the game will end up feeling very empty. That's not the case here, and in my book, that's pretty impressive. I'm in love with the aesthetics, all visuals are pleasing to the eyes. By the way, whoever stocked the shelves needs a raise. It made me want to reach inside my monitor to grab a snack from nearly every isle. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342977634 All jokes aside, I really enjoyed the game up until this point, however, I found it absurdly challenging, and when I finally completed it, I felt like I was lucky, rather than feeling skilled at observing the location. It could be due to me curling my way through it in a slightly faster pace than I'm supposed to, as a result of having played too many differently paced anomaly games recently. I'm not sure. Upon completing it, I was a bit sad to see that there's no ending, I did have some high hopes of some kind of "reward" at the end, but oh well. Still an enjoyable experience altogether.
