Enigma Code: Prologue… well, it's the prologue for something that doesn't exist yet. --- I'm going to quote the store page and then respond to each bullet point; this is what's advertised:
Game features:
Unusual visual style
Mysterious story
Short duration (10-15 minutes)

Unusual visual style Is it though? You can watch for yourself in the video on the store page, it's not that unusual just old. (which would be fine, I don't care that it looks like it's from 1999, but it's not unusual)
Mysterious story Did you watch the video on the store page? Because that's it, that's the entire mystery. You've watched the entire mystery ~ there is no ending within "this" game, that would be the next one (that doesn't exist) after this "prologue"
Short duration (10-15 minutes) ~ They claim 10-15 minutes, personally it took me 6 and that includes solving the "puzzle" that gets you the achievement. I suppose if you read really, really slow and have a difficult time clicking on 1 of 6 boxes it might take you substantially longer than 6 minutes.
More to the point let me make it clear this game doesn't innovate or have any deep game play. It's a very straight forward visual novel that you read and make a couple of "choose your own adventure" style choices that have no effect on the outcome. Aside from clicking on a couple of folders to "solve" a puzzle (that is so easy I have a hard time calling it a puzzle…) you're just reading/listening to dialogue and answering a couple of irrelevant questions before being told "this is a mystery" which I suppose is the hook to get you to buy their next game? (which doesn't exist yet? if ever?) Look, the game isn't even long enough for me to hate it. If this was free I'd be telling everyone to download it and get a free achievement while maybe being mildly curious what their next game would be. But it's $1 and it has basically no content aside from a few minute long commercial for another product that doesn't even exist yet. How am I supposed to recommend this? Watch the video on the store page, it's 1 minute long. If you want to see 5 more minutes of that same screen while that character keeps talking and gives you no additional information, then go ahead and donate $1 to this developer by buying it. --- Bottom line: This wants to set itself up as a mystery, but there's not enough content to even engage with. --- While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? Want to read all of my reviews and not just the curated ones?
This is not worth a dollar. It's basically a demo for a possibly much longer game. The audio sounds are grating. The voice is AI. This could be fleshed out into a game, but it's not worth money at this point. I would not recommend paying for it. It feels like less than a demo.
Really not a lot to say here, as it is incredibly short, but still intriguing. What it offers is good. You are an AI that seemingly lost its memories, theres a lot of bugs, lost data, and broken files, digging deeper it looks like all of it wasnt an accident. The visuals are crunchy and nice, the character is animated, which I didnt expect, (only looked at the screenshots.) Nothing bad to say here, Im interested and look forward to see more of it, given this is only the prologue. Thank you C-14, for providing me with a copy, much appreciated! Short visual novel that would be worth expanding. The presentation is what draws you in. You assume the role of an AI in charge of keeping everything in order. But then something unusual happens, and the boss wants to know what happened. Everything happens on a computer screen, however the gameplay is extremely constrained. When the boss asks a question, you're able to respond by selecting one of the options. The three desktop icons might suggest freedom, but they only function when the boss instructs you to click on them. In any case, there's not much to see in there because most of it displays an error message. The whole game can be finished during your lunch break.
Hippity-hoppity your reality is now my property!
You guys simply look like haters at this point. As it was stated, this “game” is just a prologue to something bigger. There's actually some lore behind it, and you may look for it in the animation series that is coming out right now (check for the first episode here) https://youtu.be/PRQeJv9xUJA?si=A0rmwwasDRkumv6j Just give it try, it feels like it was influenced by ENA-style vibe, which also was originally inspired by Pablo Picasso's painting. There must be some fans of it! This world is already a cruel place, so don't be “that guy”. This project is being made by a single person who is just starting their way into the game dev and media in general. I know them personally, so I can tell you that they have some picture in mind of what they want to do. Show some support and interest, if you mind, and we may witness a birth of something more than a something-15-minute-point-and-click-game. The reason behind the cost of the game is very simple. Creator's resources are limited, therefore they just wanted to cover up the cost of publishing the game on the platform. It's not some greed or megalomania. Why, I understand that marketing-wise it wasn't the best decision to promoting a game. So yeah, buy it if you want and give it a try. Maybe, do it even after watching the first episode. P. S. I'd be disappointed if I paid for this as it stands. It's *very* short, but I was actually hooked by the end of the 14 minutes. I liked the old-school graphics. It kind of thrusts you into the hot seat of a story that's already in motion. That threw me off at first, but I felt like it just started getting good when the prologue ends! It's a bittersweet feeling. This review is somewhat given in good faith: I genuinely think this could be a cool project if it's as intriguing as the last 30 seconds were. Don't buy the prologue at $0.99 though. It's too short. One QoL thing that I'd like to see is the dialogue immediately progressing when you choose what to say: As it is, you click a dialogue option and then have to click again to hear the next line. I'm not sure if that's intended, but I found it strange.
