a 4x with interesting factions instead of +1 strength and a single unique unit each
A wonderful 4X game with a map that opens up over the course of three monsoon events as the sea level drops and reveals more lucrative areas. Great faction asymmetry that helps make up for the fact that there are only six at launch.
Game is just nowhere near done. Only three map types, balance all over the place, etc. etc. Give it five years.
Классная игрушка, внебрачный сын Цивы и Героев :D Однозначно рекомендую
Still needs work but I am very satisfied with the communication from the devs.
It's a soft "no" at the moment. The game has lots of promise but, as of now, the systems do not interlock particularly well and are confusing to learn. The game desperately needs a better UI, tutorial, and signposting. Combat is also just kind of boring--the sound effects are underwhelming. Unit animations (throughout the game, but especially in battle) are very floaty without weight or impact. The combat screen is very busy and requires constant monitoring of abilities and mouseovers--there needs to be able to quickly tell the unit abilities without looking at the side of the screen. Most of the time I just kind of wish I could skip the battles (which I know I can but...what's the point of that?). I know it's early access, and I fully expect that the game will be great in the future. The devs are very active and communicative, and very clearly listen to player feedback. I will revise this if the game gets better
I don't know how to feel about this game. I understand its early access. and things can take time to become great. but in its current form the game feels almost WORSE than release. unbalanced created factions, removed features since released. It has too much editing for it to be considered a great launch. 8 months later and I still feel like the game has gone nowhere. Adding multiplayer should have been on RELEASE not months after. Also why remove features that you can toggle? It removes more replayability and having a skeletonized to almost non-existence upgrade system for your troops feels more like a downgrade than a new way to play. The skills are boring, and not even that interesting to choose. Removing Urkans for a beast that has no real new abilities other than opening a rift that gives you money is a JOKE, compared to the depth the Urkans would bring to the Endless Legend 1. No ocean play, for more territory it truly a misstep done poorly. With nothing interesting being added than the next resource really makes the game feel hollow, and no interest to even see a late game since it's all the same stuff you’ve seen all game. Fortresses are nice, but can still be found early in the game. AND the only interesting event (monsoons) gets SHORTER as the game goes on. I don't really know how this game proceeds in this current landscape of 4X. It's almost as a cascade of stubborn old minds clash, trying to redevelop the wheel. It loses so much of its flavor, and feels like a different game with an Endless Legend skin thrown on top. The factions are all husk of their versions from the first. and the lack of new factions has hit its fatigue at this point. I hope this game can hit a resurgence, and explode with a huge update that really shows what the devs have to offer, but if that takes years, I'd rather move onto something else, and let this franchise die. I will always have Endless Legend
