In this second episode of the atypical series of short visual novels, My Succubus Encounter, Ace X Game Studio's masterpiece, we will find ourselves playing a guy (name chosen by the player) who wakes up in panic after a wild night because of the promise he made to a girl to write her term paper, while at the same time he also has to write his economics paper in three days and in six the chemistry lab, and what's worse is that she has our books, wallet, laptop and phone. Given the need, we will have to go to the library where we can consult the books and use their computers, but our bad luck has no end and the books we need seem to be available only at the public library, and it's here that we will meet Emma, an "eager" and cultured reader with a passion for study and knowledge.
The gameplay is that of a typical multiple-choice visual novel which combines with the formula of a literary Trivial Pursuit and is divided into two distinct phases, one of preparation for exams, in which we will have to manage our time available to study our subjects and doing our homework, as well as finding the photos hidden by Emma among our things, and a second phase in which we will have to answer Emma's literature questions to get our "reward". The first phase is quite trial and error and I would recommend using a guide to solve it, at least after a couple of attempts, while the second is quite interesting for testing your knowledge, and you can pass it even without help, even if the questions are not among the easiest and most common for everyone.
Although short even in its category, Emma in the library is technically very well done, with excellent models and animations as typical in the works of this developer, the soundtrack is also pleasant, while the story, negligible, is just functional to the premise in a way so that we can then "get to the point".
The Steam Cloud saving feature is also absent here, but unlocking the gallery is easier this time.

In questo secondo episodio dell'atipica serie di brevi visual novel, My Succubus Encounter, capolavoro di Ace X Game Studio, ci troveremo ad interpretare un ragazzo (nome a scelta del giocatore) che si sveglia nel panico dopo una notte brava per via della promessa fatta ad una ragazza di scriverle la tesina, mentre nel contempo deve scrivere anche la sua tesi di economia in tre giorni e in sei quella di chimica, e ciò che è peggio è che lei ha i nostri libri, portafoglio, portatile e telefono. Vista la necessità, dovremo recarci in biblioteca dove potremo consultare i libri e usare i loro computer, ma la nostra sfortuna non ha fine e i libri che ci servono parrebbero essere disponibili solo alla libreria pubblica, ed è qui che incontreremo Emma, un'"avida" e acculturata lettrice con la passione per lo studio e la conoscenza.
Il gameplay è quella di una tipica visual novel a scelta multipla che si sposa con la formula di un Trivial Pursuit letterario e si divide in due fasi distinte, una di preparazione agli esami, nella quale dovremo gestire il nostro tempo a disposizione per studiare le nostre materie e fare i nostri compiti, così come il trovare le foto nascoste da Emma tra le nostre cose, e una seconda fase nella quale dovremo rispondere alle domande di letteratura di Emma per ottenere la nostra "ricompensa". La prima fase è abbastanza trial and error e consiglierei di usare una guida per risolverla, almeno dopo un paio di tentativi, mentre la seconda è piuttosto interessante per testare le proprie conoscenze, e la si può superare anche senza aiuti, anche se le domande non sono proprio tra le più facili e comuni per tutti.
Seppur breve persino nella sua categoria, Emma in the library è tecnicamente assai ben fatto, con modelli e animazioni eccellenti come tipico nelle opere di questo sviluppatore, anche la colonna sonora è piacevole, mentre la storia, trascurabile, è giusto funzionale alla premessa in modo che si possa poi venire al "sodo".
La funzionalità di salvataggio su Steam Cloud è assente anche qui, ma sbloccare la galleria questa volta è più facile.
