Not so much of an expansion pack as a mission pack. "Ranger" brings yet another new campaign (Human focused this time but couldn't really follow it to be honest due it being so dull, something about starting a rebellion and restoring the rightful king to the throne) and a few more units so if you enjoyed Fantasy Wars/Elven Legacy this is just more of the same. Should note though that (for better or worse) voice acting has been nixed completely this time and i did notice quite a few more bugs compared to the main game (music cut out several times most notably). The campaign itself also do play around with the formula a little. instead of just playing each map in order you can now chose your own path through the campaign as you usually have several missions available to you at the same time. There are several ones where you play as the MC alone - using stealth to avoid enemies rather than confronting them directly. Like i said, more of the same. Will take you around 5 hours to go through the campaign. Think also its a bit easier than the last two games as i didn't really loose as much units this time. Think the AI is a bit "dummer" this time as it will often straight up assault units that it has no chance of winning against.

A nice surprise after Elven Legacy. Great game so far
Elven Legacy: Ranger is a tactical expansion to the fantasy strategy title Elven Legacy, developed by 1C:InoCo and published on modern platforms by Fulqrum Publishing. Designed as an add-on rather than a standalone sequel, it builds directly upon the mechanics and world established in the original game, offering a new campaign that expands the lore and introduces additional strategic layers. Rooted firmly in classic hex-based, turn-based combat, the expansion remains faithful to the deliberate pacing and methodical battlefield control that define the series. The campaign centers on the character Cornelius, a seasoned ranger whose unique weapon and abilities distinguish him from previous heroes in the franchise. His sacred spear is not merely a cosmetic detail but a core mechanical innovation, allowing for tactical flexibility through status effects and specialized attacks. This subtle yet meaningful twist gives veteran players new options in combat, encouraging experimentation with positioning and ability timing. The addition of new heroes alongside Cornelius further broadens the range of viable army compositions, ensuring that the expansion feels like a continuation rather than a simple retread. Across its sixteen campaign missions, Elven Legacy: Ranger challenges players with varied objectives that extend beyond straightforward elimination of enemy forces. Defensive holds, timed objectives, and strategic positioning scenarios require careful planning and adaptation. The expansion introduces additional spells and artifacts, enhancing the magical toolkit available to players. These new resources can dramatically shift the tide of battle when used effectively, reinforcing the importance of foresight and synergy between units. Terrain, unit type matchups, and spell timing remain central to success, emphasizing calculated decisions over reactive play. Visually, the expansion maintains the same aesthetic framework as the base game. Units are rendered on detailed hex grids, with fantasy-themed environments ranging from forests and castles to desolate battlefields. While the graphics reflect the era of the original release and may appear dated by contemporary standards, they retain clarity and readability—critical for a strategy title reliant on precise movement and combat calculations. The interface, though traditional, provides all necessary information without unnecessary embellishment, prioritizing functionality over spectacle. One of the strengths of Ranger lies in its refinement rather than reinvention. It does not attempt to overhaul the core mechanics but instead deepens them. Veteran players will appreciate the continuity, as the expansion respects the original’s systems while providing additional tactical depth. However, newcomers unfamiliar with the base game’s mechanics may find the learning curve steep, as the expansion assumes familiarity with existing systems. The AI opponents offer steady challenge, requiring players to think several turns ahead rather than relying on brute-force tactics. The narrative complements the tactical gameplay by continuing the overarching conflicts of the Elven Legacy universe. While the storytelling remains secondary to battlefield engagements, it provides context and motivation for each mission. Character-driven moments and evolving threats help maintain engagement throughout the campaign. The focus remains squarely on strategic progression, with story elements acting as connective tissue rather than dominant features. Ultimately, Elven Legacy: Ranger stands as a focused and worthwhile expansion for fans of hex-based fantasy strategy. It enriches the tactical landscape with new heroes, spells, and mission structures while preserving the deliberate pacing and strategic depth that define the series. Though its presentation reflects its late-2000s origins, its gameplay remains solid and methodical. For players who appreciate classic turn-based warfare grounded in fantasy lore, it offers a meaningful extension of the original experience, reinforcing its identity as a thoughtful and enduring entry in the genre. Rating: 7/10
Α bit too easy and too uneventful
The best Fantasy General clone, 10/10
DLC sympa, dommage qu'il n'y ait même plus de doublage en Anglais par contre, Fantasy Wars avait le double Français, Elven Legacy originel avait le doublage Anglais
