Elementals: The Magic Key

Il n'existe pas de version française du jeu ; mais ce n'est pas grave. C'est vite ennuyeux avec des puzzles et "batailles" répétitifs, l'histoire est abracadabresque : à réserver pour les fans du genre (sorcières et démons en pagaille...). Je me suis trompée, attirée par l'aspect très coloré du jeu. A signaler tout de même : j'ai rencontré un bug au chapitre cinq ("open the dome").

A HOG that came out of the vault a decade late. It has no resolution options except for the 4:3 aspect ratio, which results in low quality scenes where required items blend into the background. You get an outline of the item and general description, but there are too many scenes where you need to find something transparent, like a mirror or broken lenses, that are very hard to spot. Fortunately, the hint button recharges quickly and there’s no penalty for fast clicking. And despite the fact that hotspots aren’t marked, you just need to wait for a minute and two for a glow that points at the right spot. The good part is that you’re not required to look for crazy amount of items that don’t belong there. This game has more in common with adventure games where each item has a use. Logic puzzles are everywhere and classic. You’ll have to move objects around, memorize, observe colors, etc. Big part of the game are battles with elementals. They are easy to play and don’t overstay their welcome. You and your opponent start the battle with a bunch of units spread out over a field that resembles a chessboard. In each turn you can move only one unit and attack. The whole strategy is to place three units in a row to get a stronger unit with more health and wider attack range. The biggest frustration are loading times. Each movement between scenes gives you a loading screen that can take up to 10 seconds, which doesn’t sound a lot, but we’ve been spoiled by today’s games that have instant screen switching.

5 hours worth of fun! Mind you, finding some of the hidden objects in the scenes led me to feel I needed a magnifying glass, so hidden are the items you need they are almost camouflaged! The mini games are simple, but in a good way! I wasn't keen on the battle boards, that's just a matter of personal taste, but they can be skipped if they're not your cup of tea!

Bug at the first scene. As programmer, I even try to skip tasks by switching active task, but I cannot figure out object states. Game stuck at task "Find scoop" -> I can change EmptyCup to FullCup, but game still won't accept FullCup into the apparate ...

Игра детства, очень приятно было в неё поиграть и вспомнить как это играются старые игры. Правда жалко что русского нет, но он особо тебе и не нужен, если конечно тебе не очень интересен сюжет.

LOL ... sad to say this is actively broken about half way through (I guess). Got to a location and attempted to collect flies and could only get 5 out of 7. Tried to do a hint - says I have found everything and "pass to the left." Can't go anywhere. Did wait a bit for flies to fly, because some of them did that before. No more showed. The game until it broke was a bit simplistic but was OK; sort of disappointed I can't rescue my sister.
