Solo Dev who responds to most reviews himself so I will give a fairly indepth rundown, may make a forum post with more specific things to point out. Minor Spoilers in the Pros/Cons, Major spoilers will be noted below them. CONS (get the bad out of the way first I suppose) -The Gameplay is okay but being limited to 4 units who often overlap or are even outright better than others make it get stale fast. -Some of the levels have really odd tuning, Medium 18/19 are super hard due to having the single most dangerous enemy combo in the game (massed muskets with a strong frontline) and absurd enemy amounts, while Hard 19 is way too easy as it relies on spamming enemies you can easily squish by that point if you have the right setup and upgrades. -The Spelling and Grammar could use another run through but I'd be willing to point out where some spots that could be changed are. -The resolution is strange and the game only runs in a specifically sized window (this is apparently due to the way that the game's art was done). -The Grinding after you finish Hard 20 is... a bit much. If you want to unlock all unit dialogues expect another hour or so of grinding Hard 20 to get enough essence. Not needed to finish the game but see below as to why I note this as a con... Pros -The story is excellent and told in a somewhat nonlinear manner. You have the pieces of a puzzle and it's up to you to try to put them together and figure things out. Seriously, don't skip the unit dialogues or archive entries, they're the best part of the game. -The Art is minimalist but works really well, especially with the main character and the more elaborate visuals. -The game has a great mood to it, especially when reading the grim codex entries in the tower between levels. -It's free, seriously, try it, it will take maybe 5 hours to fully clear at most. Major Spoilers beyond this line. I'm really hyped for a sequel or followup, the game leaves most of its questions unanswered and keeps you wondering about Sofia's intentions and plans, as well as the fate of the deep ones and the odd connection between the Necroshrooms and the Empire Souls. Even the question of "Is the Sofia we are controlling the whole time even the original?" Even if it takes a while, I'd be willing to pay for a followup set in this universe.

Resolution cannot be changed. Game does not start unless you use the keyboard, mouse does not function (no indication this is the ase). Tutorial gets stuck unless you hit esc (no instruction to). Gameplay is basic spam more units than your enemy and win.
Full 100% playthrough here w/ time stamps (once it uploads): https://youtu.be/Xf41aD7Mikk This is a very good game the playstyle is really unique and I love how rewarding it feels as you evolve your characters. There was only one level that was really challenging though I think it was medium 18 or 19 whichever one was the absolute struggle. I think the creator did a good job of making it easy enough to unlock all the story content as well. I believe the story and lore is actually the strong point of this game and is like it's own separate story it's incredibly intriguing there's a bit of grammatical/spelling issues, but it's understandable and really well thought out. The characters all have immersive backstories and their dialogues explain their abilities/strengths very well. The universe itself has great depth and the lore was a joy to read through. Hopefully the creator will have a page up for the sequel so I can wish list it before I forget.
Eldritch Lands: The Witch Queen's Eternal War is a dark fantasy strategy game in which you play as the titular Witch Queen in her struggle against the endless undead horde. In this bleak world where all the gods have either been killed or abandoned their people, when the dead rise due to the sudden appearance of a Necromancer known only as the Necroshroom Queen, it’s up to the Witch Queen to defend her Kingdom. As normal humans only add to the undead army when they die, the Witch Queen diverted all her resources into creating an army of fake people, known as a Homunculi, to serve as an unending fodder to hold the dead at bay.

Thats really but i mean really a nice touch to the game. Also the intro is really good. I didn't get far yet but this is my favourite game rn.I really recommend this game. The art style is simple and i love it.I really recommend this game. Its an true underrated gem on steam...
This game has fantastic world and story. The character dialogue is just fantastic. The characters are intriguing, existential and pretty fleshed-out. The art, though very simple, is also charming. I really love the use of colour, with it mostly being black and white, with sparing use of other colours. For example, the main protagonist, where a lot of purple is used in their design. I would be a little biased, however- as someone who suffers from extreme sensory overload, black and white games are like candy to me. The gameplay, unfortunately, I have a lot more negatives about, though I’ll start with the positives. The positives are it’s a gameplay style, which I honestly really like. There’s this old flash game I used to play that basically mirrors the gameplay style in this game. It was lost to the memories of my childhood and I was never able to find it again so, being able to experience a game with similar mechanics was very charming. There are a few interesting ideas scattered here and there. I love the spore cloud enemy- it has some really good gimmicks in obscuring the screen so you have no idea what the heck is going on, as well as slipping by your troops. There are a few levels that pose interesting and different challenges, like having levels based around tonnes and tonnes of enemies, so you need a lot of aoe, or levels with really strong singular enemies, or with enemies only coming from a singular row, or suddenly tonnes of enemies appearing when the opponents are low-health! But, as a whole, it’s a relatively simple gameplay mechanic, with very few bells and whistles, stretched incredibly thin. The game is incredibly grindy and repetitive, with little enemy diversity. Some of your own troops, like the barbarian knight and soldier, feel so incredibly similar that they are practically identical, with there not even being a final boss. There’s simply no need to make the game this long and repetitive- you could have easily halved or even taken 75% of the level count away, heavily increased the rate of troop upgrades, and I would look a lot more fondly back on the gameplay. The base mechanic is simply, but not bad. It’s just stretched way too far. Even very good base mechanics, if repeated enough, will become frustrating- and this game definitely falls into the frustrating category. I would still heavily recommend it for the writing and story being phenomenal, but if you’re not into lying back and zoning out whilst going through repetitive gameplay, I couldn’t recommend finishing it. And, if the game developer is reading this, I make games too and would love to chit chat about game design or story-stuff some time. You have a lot of interesting and unique ideas, and I’m absolutely in love with your world and story. Hope you’re having a lovely day. Bye bye, Louis x
I am blown away by the writing in this game. These characters are people. Not pure heroes or villains that can just be boxed up and put on a side. The main character does objectively horrible things for an objectively noble goal. The units in this game are constructs, copies of people who once lived, with all their memories, skills, and personality. The spearman is a noble soul who understandably refuses to save the world from abject horror if it means serving the woman who killed him and his people. The cheerful bomb created from scratch to love blowing itself up eventually gains sapience and names itself, so that it can live on it's own terms before it's cheerful death. The near-silent [autistic] shieldmaster eventually opens up and moves from one-word sentences to profound criticisms of the nature of the player character and the world they've made. The lore is fantastic, and paints a colorful and lurid world that I can't help but become invested in. It's a fascinating setting, and told with just enough info to be engaging without inundating the player with exposition. The gameplay? Basically filler. It's a method to moving the story along. That said, it is pretty fun, if simple. You won't be seeing any groundbreaking innovations that will change the genre by any means. The weirdest thing? This is basically a prologue, a setting for the main game that the developer is working on. It's basically a side project and a warmup for the main game. Unfortunately, that means that the ending to this game is... unsatisfying, being left unfinished for the upcoming main game, and the systems are pretty bare-bones. It is still a free indie lane defense game in the end. If you go in expected that level of quality, you will be blown away, but if you go in expecting a full high-quality experience, you will be disappointed. If this type of "game" is something you're interested in, it is absolutely worth your time, but if you just care about gameplay, this one is probably better to skip. On the fence? Absolutely give it a try! I'm really looking forward to the next game.
