"Eden Eternal-聖境伝説" is just one of thousands of non-free mobile-tier clones polluting the "free" category on Steam, and it carries hidden, toxic monetization. Even if it isn't on the official app stores, this is a mobile app in every way that matters... it shares the same trashy visuals and brain-dead mechanics common to mobile cash grabs. It likely isn't on the app stores because Google and Apple actually have standards, whereas Valve lets anything onto Steam.
This garbage does sure look like some cutesy "MMORPG" designed for middle aged men who really like little anime girls, but it's really a collection of every kind of horrible monetisation ever to offend the gaming industry. Quests are directly tied into the cash shop so you're continually being sent there and told to spend money so you can play. This is a godawfully bad experience.
This is a purely superficial experience designed for a phone screen. The graphics and the mechanics are bottom-tier... imagine the gaudy, cheap plastic casing on the slot machines at the casino. That's what this is, a cheap flashy veneer on a shallow non-game with one purpose... to bleed you dry through mobile-tier microtransactions.
Setting the predatory mobile monetization aside, this is an amateur mobile project, not a PC game. I didn't pay thousands for a serious gaming rig to use it like an iPhone, and you shouldn't have to either... we are here for PC games, not mobile trash.
As with all mobile scams, you're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality mobile app, this is specifically designed to invalidate your consumer rights and destroy your right to privacy. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me.
Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers.
This game is infested with mobile app store like microtransactions. This is a consumer hostile model that we don't need to see on PC. It's deceptively priced to gouge gamers, and that's a reason in itself to avoid this.
Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library?
I can't recommend this. I didn't have to pay for this, but I still feel ripped off.
