Honestly, the game is really well designed and super enjoyable to play. Could not recommend this enough.
I've only played for about an hour but I can already tell this is a game i'm going to MELT hours into. The seemingly endless possibilities for different builds each round makes it really hard to stop playing. I'm eager to see what new characters and abilities they come out with. I haven't fallen so quickly in love with a game like this in a looooong time!
For an indie game that's still in Early Access, I've been so so impressed by how much content is already available and knowing how much more they have in store. The progression system is really rewarding, as each run gives you more upgrades that make you want to jump into another round to see how much further you can get! The amount of times I've said 'go on then, one more go' is astounding. I love how polished the gameplay feels and everything works as you would expect it to. Throughout my time playing I haven't encountered any bugs which is always a plus! It's very clear that the dev team are actively refining the experience of the game as a whole and even though it has such a solid foundation already, I can't wait to see where Echoes of Meda goes next. The music is soooo enjoyable as well - even though the soundtrack is compact, the music adds so much more to the atmosphere of the gameplay and elevates the playing experience to a whole new level. Also, the artwork - 10/10! Visually, the game is fantastic - the pixel art is packed with character and whimsy, making everything feel so vibrant and alive. There is a very strong sense of charm throughout the environments and I find myself picking up on the little details in the design. I feel like I've only experienced a tiny segment of what the game will have to offer in the next year or two, and I'm looking forward to spending so many more hours exploring everything and all the new ideas that the dev team adds!
For a smaller, early access title this game is a ton of fun, and already at the time of me writing this offers plenty of challenge. The character advancement loop is satisfying enough to want to play another round after increasing the power of your abilities with the rewards of the previous round, and then keep doing that again and again. There were a few strong points about the game that I found worth mentioning; first of all, the mechanics work as advertised, and are smooth. I haven't yet found a single bug, and any potential balance issues are being taken care of as the early access goes on. With this foundation, I can't wait to see what the developers add to the game! Secondly, the music is beautiful. For now, there aren't that many different tracks, but I'm sure whatever the composer whips up in the future will be captivating! Also, the sound effects are really fun, and there haven't been any that I have come across that annoyed me, which can sometimes be the case with games for me. Thirdly, the artwork is amazing! It really brings the game and the world alive, and I can't wait to learn more about Meda, its citizens and its creatures. It reminds me of some of the games I used to play in the 90s, yet with a very refined look to everything. There are many different kinds of pixel art styles, and I really love this one, with all the subtle little details. It really makes the world look like very fantastical, and a place I would love to visit. I have only scratched the surface of what the game has to offer, and will continue having fun with it for many hours to come, and I really can't wait what the developers come up with in the future!
Absolute blast playing with the characters. Melee is super rough and challenging, but the progression system overall is super sick and the vibe is great. Can't wait for more characters / maps
Very promising Roguelite - love the nostalgic feel to it. Music is excellent. Gameplay loop is addictive. They've done a great job of making you feel like you could do better on the next run - "just one more run". Excited to continue unlocking the upgrades and abilities on each champion - Archer is my main so far but Mage is a lot of fun too. Looking forward to seeing the game continue to grow.
Highly unbalanced. Not enough gold gain, no permanent upgrades, and extremely slow progression.
Game is probably fine, but it needs some real basic ♥♥♥♥ that the dev chose not to add. 3440x1440 (21:9) support Mouse/Keyboard proper support (in what fkn world is ESCAPE not options or menu key etc) The Inn is slow for no reason, lots of examples of where the dev just wants to pad time so people can't refund Might buy again in a year, but as it is, ♥♥♥♥ no. When so much basic ♥♥♥♥ is missing there's no way.
Love the art style!! looking forward to see whats next :)
