This is just an impossible game to recommend to anybody, literally. Which is an absolute shame, because you do see the potential this game had, the game is absolutely beautiful, the combat from your side is well integrated within the SAO world and it is fun to play, the worldbuilding is interesting, and the build variety is very good. Like the potential is incredible, but I wouldn't even recommend it to a SAO fan, SO MANY moronic decisions that absolutely do NOT make for an enjoyable experience of a game that is long. TL;DR: Huge empty zones, where you cannot explore the whole world and will be teleported back if attempted to; on which you are pretty much just going to be sprinting and one-shotting randomly placed enemies, trying to find your way through the horrendous level design that could have been great if exploration existed in the game, dealing with the AWFUL ambushes out of the blue that can get you one-shotted by enemies that didn't even exist 1 second before, only to keep advancing in a main story that is not even slightly interesting and that it ends abruptly, while doing extremely few secondary quests that bring nothing new to the table 1. Non-existent exploration, the world is completely empty, nothing really to explore beyond some chests that 90% of the time have generic items even tho some of them are VERY hard to reach, and some lore tidbits here and there, but NOTHING else, like seriously, one of THE worst explorations on any game I have ever played; 2. World Map based on zones: WHY, WHO thought this was a good idea, I don't mind only having floor 1 and 2 from the 100, that is totally fine, but why are we limited to zones when we can clearly see other zones, but when you try to reach them you get teleported back to your confines, like I would have understand it IF the zones had interesting content, but they are completely empty. Why is there nothing in terms of exploration or players?????? Why make it zone based if you are still going to leave them empty? 3. Level design: absolutely horrendous, there are no visual queues as to how to reach some areas, and you move quite slow, and the zones are VERY big, yet empty, so you are not really prompt to explore, because why would you do it if there is nothing there? But of course you still want to see if the chest has a blueprint, this can take HOURS in some zones to get all chests. 4. Combat: Probably one of the most infuriating things, is the random instant ambushes. WHO thought this was a good idea. Sometimes, you will see an enemy, and go fight him, only for 4-6 new enemies that weren't there to appear next to you, and to instantly attack you, which is extremely easy that you can get killed here because stun lock is a thing, you can literally have 0 seconds of reaction to an instant death (which caused me to lose my first Death Mode playthrough). This coupled with the amount of stuns that some bosses have, make playing on Death Mode completely useless and not satisfactory. WHY are you allowed only to carry 1 companion? They are absolutely useless except for their active skills, we are supposedly playing an MMORPG and we are limited to 1 companion? 5. Cities: Also completely dead, tons of NPCs and you can only speak with 3-5 of them, the traders and your companions. You do find some lore tidbits, which is very cool, but why aren't all of this NPCs out there in the world when you go out? Why is the world completely empty? 6. Story: Just unremarkable across the board, your characters is literally an spectator in the story of another character, the story is uninteresting and ends completely out of the blue. 7. Inventory/Pouch: Another moronic decision, you cannot change weapons when on the open world, even tho in SAO you could; you cannot change items when in the open world, and you need some items to fully explore zones, so if you forgot to bring them, you either dont care to explore (since its empty and that chest is probably going to have 8000 col) or you have to go back to town, get them, and go out again. 8. Progression systems: The money of the game, col, is completely useless, you barely use it and it's too abundant; improving weapons is a pain in the ass the more you advance, it is VERY slow.
Bought the ultimate edition of this game $110 Probably about 80% done with the game and then all of a sudden it crashes and im stuck in an infinite loading screen trying to load the game back up. I look up how to fix it and all I can see is the only fix is to delete ALL of your save data. What a freaking waste of my time and money. I feel like ive been completely scammed cause this stupid company cant fix their bugs. What a waste. SO infuriating!!!!
Hello! i would like to preface with i like SAO as a series, I have played most of the games in the series and think this game could have been really good if the team had been given more time to work on it. I have completed this game in its entirety, except for a couple achievements. I'm going to list my main gripes and issues I've had. There will be spoilers, so continue with caution. 1. The story progression is rushed and makes the emotional scenes with characters just not hit. I especially felt this at the beginning, when we had our first few character deaths. I feel there wasn't enough time spent with Saayu and Clark before they were killed. We never spent any time with them and didn't even ever meet Clark. there was zero reason for me to care about them, much less their death. Later on in the story, we suddenly remember Cal existed after being absent the entire story, and he's just dead. If you didn't play the demo, you have no idea who Cal even is! he's never talked about until they want to reveal that he's dead. we get a glimpse of what might be his brother and nothing else. this plot point ends abruptly, with zero build up and zero pay off. Adding onto that, the end of the story with the characters creating a guild feels un earned. the animation and music were absolutely beautiful, but there was no emotional build up for me to latch onto. i didn't feel accomplished or like id done much of anything, the best i felt was empty. the characters arks were almost all unfinished and there isn't much story after the credits to tie stuff up either. Its just bad writing. 2. Lack of content. It has a lot of content for only two floors, but i really feel it could have had more or even just be spread out better would have been better. The lack of content wasn't a personal gripe, but definitely something i saw a lot of other people complaining about. I do think open world map would have helped out with this for a lot of people, myself included. it was a bummer to see the map wasn't open world, when they used language that implied it was in the trailer. 3. Unpolished and unfinished feel. The entire game just feels un polished and un finished, there are Huge bugs, and glitches that ruin play throughs that have been reported on mass and not a single thing has been done, no patches released etc. Including 2 of the mane quest story weapons not being acquired, resources sitting above the ground to the point they're not reachable, chests that are unretrievable due to area restrictions and areas we never get and the list goes on. That is completely unacceptable from a multi million dollar game company. if it were a beta or even and indie developer i would understand. but its not. its a fully "finished" game from a multi million dollar company. It all boils down to rushing everything for release and that's ridiculous. 4. adding on to my last point, i personally have had multiple full pc crashes occur while playing this game, and in the process it corrupted my graphics drivers. i have to uninstall and reinstall everything. i have never had this kind of issue with a game in my entire life. The game is poorly optimized and that is not acceptable. To summarize: It is a poorly optimized game, that has poor writing, and just physically un playable. The story was rushed, with so many unfinished character arks and the few finished character arks we get feel un earned. If i could get a refund, i would. I wouldn't have pre ordered it had i known it was going to be this awful, and id recommend not buying it full price, or at all. I cannot express how disapointed in this game and this company i truly am. Just make better games and you'll make more money. Its that simple.
A parte artística eh fenomenal. E no geral? Eu realmente me senti parte do todo, e adorei o jogo.
Horrible game dont buy it
__________________________________________________ どれもこれも中途半端、基本プレイ無料ゲー以下の内容、なんだったら有志のインディーゲームの方がいいもの作ってるぞ。
I love the SaO universe, and genuinely enjoy the "in the gamer's world" as the gamer concept. However, once again this game falls short for me. At first I glossed over the issues I had as "they'll smooth out"; that wasn't the case. A lot about this installment I found enjoyable- creating my character, upgrading my gear/stats, the way they would have in the SaO Season 1 story. My issues are: - Character creation has zero height adjustment. They say it's because of cutscenes, etc, but this is obvious developer corner cutting. It's 2026, stop making excuses for something so basic. - How baseline the world feels to move around. The meaningful fights are so few and far between. The "quests" all end up feeling the same after the first few. - This entire system would have been so much better with an online co-op option. Again, the excuses made, feel like they were made to cut corners, and milk the franchise (as per usual). Given the negatives I decided to list, I can't recommend this title- let most of these things were already excused, and will not be changed.
this game is a big disappointment now i know how my dad feels
A game that attempts to live up to the greatness that is Sword Art Online can only be described as an incomparable failure. Lackluster combat, buggy unusable camera angles, repeating enemies, and a slow unwinding story leave you wondering what they spent the hours building this game actually doing. Games released over by bandai namco over 20 years ago have more features and more playability than this game does. It's clear that the care and love for the SAO franchise won't be found here.
Opah!
