"Echoed World" is a student project from, uh, somewhere, and this year the students made a 2D platformer, but at least the character is 3D rendered, so that's something. One of the things I like about student projects is for the most part they at least try to understand that narrative is a core part of gaming and they got the idea here. It's just a shame it's such a mediocre platformer, with clunky controls, bugs, and a serious need of polish and optimisation. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.

This game is short and sweet, I mean REALLY short. I beat this entire game in less than 20 minutes. Its shorter than some demo games are. But its free so I cant complain... To much... It has some nice platforming almost ruined by clunky controls and ice skating like movement, followed by sticking to somethings you dont want to stick to. The animations could of used more frames and your character looks out of place compared to the background. But again, its free, so check it out! I did like the intro and narration throughout the game.
intro; realy good, narrator could use some work but it was really good and it got me hooked, i literally thought to myslef "dude this is so nice, idc about the game, it deserves a good review just for this" boy was i wrong start of gameplay; YOU SHOWD THAT YOU HAVE SUCH A BEUATIFUL 2D ARTSTYLE, WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ DID YOU MAKE THE MAIN CHARACTER, A 3D OBJECT, IT BRAKES THE ATMOSPHERE YOU CREATED 3 SECONDS AGO, COME ON narrator is not so decend, could be much better, some sounds cut off really quickly, and the camera work is incredibly bad really good foundation and concept, but bad execution

"Restart Level" resets your collectibles counter, dying respawns all picked up collectibles. Didn't notice any other bugs. The game feels like some students' team project to get a passing grade for game design class. Not great, not terrible but fun to play. Lacks any conclusion or purpose and tells what I'd say is a part of the story. Still fun to play for a moment of relax.

It needs more to it than this; the game is so short that it's almost laughable. I literally beat it in 40 minutes... The graphics and actual mechanisms in the game are amazing, but the fact that it's so unfinished is just sad. There should be a way to restore the world, Algiz's powers, or a way to beat Tyr even if you can't save his planet. There were 5 other architects that you could use. each one has to puzzle their way to the end, and each one has a different ability that solves the puzzles that defeat Tyr? There are so many options, so please, please, finish the game..... No seriously, this would be awesome if you just finish it....
"Echoed World" may be short in duration, but it's long on impact, delivering a thought-provoking and immersive experience that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll. In this atmospheric puzzle-adventure game, players embark on a journey through a surreal and beautifully crafted world, uncovering its mysteries and unraveling its secrets along the way. One of the most striking aspects of "Echoed World" is its mesmerizing art direction. From the ethereal landscapes to the intricate environmental details, every aspect of the game's visuals is designed to draw players into its immersive world. The hand-drawn artwork is both stunning and evocative, creating a sense of wonder and intrigue that permeates every moment of gameplay. The gameplay mechanics in "Echoed World" are deceptively simple yet ingeniously crafted. Players must navigate through a series of puzzles and challenges, using logic, observation, and experimentation to progress. Each puzzle is cleverly designed to test the player's problem-solving skills while also advancing the narrative, resulting in a satisfying balance of gameplay and storytelling. Speaking of storytelling, "Echoed World" excels in its ability to convey a rich and evocative narrative without relying on extensive dialogue or exposition. Instead, the game's story unfolds organically through environmental storytelling, subtle visual cues, and immersive audio design. Players are encouraged to piece together the narrative themselves, leading to a deeply engaging and immersive storytelling experience. While "Echoed World" may be short in length, its brevity only serves to enhance its impact. Every moment feels purposeful and carefully crafted, with no filler or padding to detract from the experience. The game's short length also encourages replayability, as players can revisit the world to uncover hidden secrets and discover new details they may have missed on their first playthrough. Overall, "Echoed World" is a captivating and unforgettable experience that showcases the power of storytelling in gaming. With its mesmerizing visuals, engaging gameplay, and evocative narrative, it's a must-play for fans of atmospheric puzzle-adventure games. Despite its short length, "Echoed World" leaves a lasting impression that is sure to echo in the minds of players long after they've finished the game.
