https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExgTZzmh3AE Solo developer shoot 'em up in something of a 194X style (WWII theme, planes in tri-formations, barrel rolls). There's good and bad to it, unfortunately some of the flaws are big ones. Like bullet visibility. It's just terrible on some levels or against certain enemies. Also for a game that very much wants to be a bullet hell, your ship is too twitchy. You need to be able to dance between those bullets, not jerk back and forth. To finish out the bigger flaws, the game needs a zippier pace. Watching a drab conversation on the screen for 60 seconds at a time, or the level over bonus screen taking forever -- we need to be able to fast forward these. But like I said, there's good too. The graphics are clean and bright with three different scanline options (I love grid scanlines!), there's a cool heavy metal soundtrack (though we need volume control on that), and the sound effects are nice and explodey. Thankfully there are leaderboards and there's also a neat between-levels upgrade system. A pretty good effort, but alas some of those flaws are biggies. Worth the $5 it goes on sale for if you're a STG nut. 6.5/10
I don't wanna leave a negative review for this game. It's a well made game. Decent graphics, shooting down planes feels good, bosses, some dialogue, upgrades (?!?), cool I'm enjoying it! But then I realize by stage 2 the game throws absolutely everything to the wall as far as enemies, bullet patterns, realizing planes that I've shot down can still shoot at me, and more planes and bullet patterns. Its absolutely insane. I'm playing on normal and it feels like I'm playing very hard or mania mode. Holy $hit!!! And that's why I kinda feel bad. The structure and bones are really good!!! It just needs a bit more polish in the difficulty department and I could forgive all the other little things that bother me like how bad and unfilling the sound effects for shooting down the planes are. Or how the game will continue on after a boss but later in it just aggressively cuts to a level end bonus screen. I know this is from a single dev and they do this game when time is available but as a gamer I tell ya it feels like you really got something here and it just needs a few more nips and tucks to become a shiny gem. If that happens I'll rebuy.
Great game lots of power ups and upgrade options. It's a little tough but a great shooter. Good graphics and good sound. Bargain for the price of a sandwich!
Very nice scroll-shooter game! Has upgrades and save functionality. We enjoyed playing it in co-op mode on easy difficulty :)) need to see other simiral games from this author !
Can't believe this game was made by a solo developer. Power ups are so satisfying and I love the way the enemy planes explode into pieces with smoke trails lingering on the play field. Some dialogue that you just can't skip but it doesn't hinder the experience too much as they are only short pieces of interactions here and there. Other than that I have nothing to complain about. Great shooter for the price and a good distraction for a few hours.
I cant believe how good this game is for the price. Awesome old school shooter action with a nice stylised 3D graphics. All the plane models look accurate and the upgrade system offers lots of depth for strategy and replay value. Soundtrack to this game is also banging. A hidden gem on steam!
Great game, tough but very enjoyable. Reminds me of 194x games but this one is on steroids
Love the power ups! So much chaos on screen when your power ups start to stack and the game is hard but fair. I just need to get better at the game so will try again, and again and again lol Great shooter for the money.
Really enjoyed this game and managed to get rank 1 in the world Make good use of the power ups and upgrade system to get through the normal difficulty mode! Lots of fun and loads of shooting action!
Wow this game is a great modern take on the 1943 style shooters of the 1980s. The upgrade system is pretty class and you'll need to make intelligent decisions to progress through the game. It took me an age to get past level 2 because I didn't upgrade my fire power and fire rate but once i got past it I was tearing through the game. Power ups are class too! At times you feel over powered but once they are gone its just good old fashion bullet dodging / rolling to evade or dropping a smart bomb to clear the screen because there's just so many enemy bullets to avoid. The game seemed difficult on Normal mode until I got my head round the upgrade choices but it's non-stop action for a full 10 levels if you can get good enough. While you play the game it tells you where you're at on the high scores table so you can see if you break into the top 10, nice touch! Purchased on sale and it's such a bargain, wish I had a mate with me to play 2 players with because that would be sick! Great indie game and it looks like a solo developer which is pretty mind blowing given the 3D graphics and presentation. If you like shooters I don't think there's much to complain about even at full price, but while it's on sale it feels like an absolute bargain!
