It's like a slightly better Dying Light 2, but that's not a high bar You have a hidden stamina bar that's just used for sprinting, and then you have a visible stamina bar exclusively used for combat. Except if you have the Dash skill, then the visible stamina bar can also be used for sprinting, but the invisible stamina bar can still run out while you're depleting the visible stamina bar, stopping you from sprinting. This segregated stamina system seems like a poorly thought out attempt at reducing the amount of stamina management and speeding up the pace of the game, but feels very amateurish. I believe they even backported this into Dying Light 2, too Another lovely change they've made is adding extra inputs to activate skills. You now have to press not two, not four, but three (3) buttons just to dropkick a zombie. If it's their attempt to make the skill less appealing, then I guess it succeeded. Maybe they could have made the rest of the combat more appealing instead though. There's almost no real passive skills, they all require additional button presses to make any use of them. Nearly every skill that could be considered "passive" are just crafting unlocks, or reduced vehicle damage or fuel usage (because of training, I guess) We are now three games deep into this series and the developers still haven't figured out that if you can open a menu (such as the inventory or map) with a key, that the same key should also close it. You can hold the inventory key for half a second to close specific menus, but they would rather have you reach all the way over to ESC key. Except for the skill tree menu, for some reason that one can be closed with the key you opened it with. Speaking of keybinds, you'll may run into fun situations where you receive a distress call, and to answer it, you need to press and hold the Flashlight keybind. Shared keybinds are fine, but for as long as that distress call prompt is up, you cannot toggle your flashlight, even if you're in the middle of a stealth section where turning off your flashlight would be ideal. The prompt and the flashlight cannot have their keybinds decoupled. The writing is just as terrible as ever, so nothing has changed in that department: "He's already more compliant and obedient than you ever were." Plenty of typos too, unless the writers really don't know the difference between "effect" and "affect"
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME It has many issues with various video cards both current and last gen cards. The developer has not released any form of patch or update to remediate this issue. You will have to do workarounds like crazy until something sticks. One of the workarounds requires you to underclock your video card, which you should never do in any circumstances. They need to fix their product outright.

Finished the story on co-op. Game was incredibly buggy the entire time. Mechanics were unreliable at best and made the game frustrating to play. When parkouring it feels as if Kyle just randomly decides not to grab ledges. Zombies will grab you from 10 feet away, pulling you into a QTE. Sometimes, your weapons will swing right through enemies despite standing face to face. I played the first Dying Light back in the day, and it felt much faster. Dying Light: The Beast feels so slow in comparison. The boss battles are underwhelming overall, but there is one in particular near the end of the game which was totally broken for us. The boss would teleport around the arena and instantly start attacks without any queues. It would also start running in fast-forward from one end of the arena toward me or my friend, making it very difficult to make space for healing. Pretty lame. This boss battle was so broken for us that we almost decided to call it quits. We did stick it out in the end but it was not enjoyable. The story is mediocre to say the least. My friend and I found it difficult to care about anything that was happening. The characters are dumb and not very interesting. They do stupid things so that the plot can happen. There many twists that don't make any sense. We were left scratching our heads frequently. Sometimes, a game can have a mediocre story but be so fun to play that you don't mind. Such as the first Dying Light. At first, we spent a lot of time exploring the map, parkouring around, and killing zombies between missions. However, we stopped doing that as we found that it wasn't really that fun. In the first game playing at night was awesome. If you got into a chase with the volatiles it was exhilarating. They were a threat but didn't feel unfair. You had many opportunities to escape them with the plentiful traps or uv safe zones. This game is not like that. Volatiles are way too strong and way too fast. If you start a chase with them more constantly spawn around you. Even if you're being stealthy they will spawn right on top of you or sniff you out. The loot you get from one volatile is not worth the risk. Playing at night did not feel worth it. In the end, we focused on the story just for the sake of seeing it through. Again, the mechanics were very buggy for us so it became annoying to play in the open world. On top of that, there is way too much time dedicated to climbing up cliffs, or scaling tall buildings. Especially when the game won't register you grabbing a ledge. This happened to us often, making the climbing sections excrutiating. It's crazy that the developers designed the missions with so much slow ledge grabbing. Seriously, what were they thinking? Do people really find this fun? Felt more like a tactic to extend the time it takes to beat a mission. I think this game could have been much more. There were moments of genuine fun. The beast powers are pretty cool. The first time you get to use them was great. However, at a certain point it became more tiresome than fun. By the end of the story I was glad to be done with it. Doubt I'll ever play it again.
I am a huge fan of Dying Light. It was for a long time the best Zombie game. This game however... no... I cannot recommend it. The gameplay feels bad, the animations are few, the weapon variety in the game is low and poor. The weapons feel okay but the ammo you can get is so low you don't even get to enjoy weapons. Enemies at night are near unbeatable, Crane feels weak and lame, parkour is somehow worse than previous titles, gore is not good, hits on the chest area just create a hole on the zombie chest even if you use cutting weapons. This is just not a good game, not even in coop. I am not even mad... I am sad... I have seen one of my fav games become this... this is probably the last game from the studio, it is bad, it is lame... It's so sad...
I dont know what game the other positive reviews played, but it sure as ♥♥♥♥ wasnt this steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥
Nobody EVER reads my reviews so I will Eat 1 Tablespoon of сum for Every Like this gets.
