Pretty neat little game with an interesting control scheme: the bike is attached to your cursor by a rubber band and you pull it around the arena. It sure will be satisfying to master. I can see myself playing it in short bursts. Though I don't like that on death, the game returns you to a checkpoint instead of just restarting the current level. You can die fast and not really understand what went wrong. If it happens right before the checkpoint, you are forced to redo a couple of levels before getting a chance to even look at what killed you. Feels frustrating rather than hard.
WOW! Such Wow! And this game has only 6 reviews?! I like to find this! It's a game for 1 evening, but damn! How neat is it. This is the stuff i want to see from indie gaming - a small gameplay experience which bring an impression! Im too dissapointed to see that this game have so little attention. It's deserve much more <3
This game uses a unique movement system and unit multipliers to create movement puzzles. E.g. you can split into 2, separate them via a wall, collect a dangerous objective from the other side, losing the clone but getting the victory point without losing all of your units. One thing that I'm less a fan of is restart on failure, but since the game is quite short it doesn't bite as much as it could. The graphics are simple, but the style is consistent and that is what defines the overall look. I really do like this style. I used proton to run the game on Linux. I could play the first few levels and then the performance went down, so please make sure your machine actually matches the min requirements!
View review, written to follow, https://youtu.be/GpBypr99Ff4 If you like wild physics then this game has you covered. With only one button the game seems simple on the surface but learning to control your hyper bike with enough speed and finesse that you can make it through the game in the time limit. You have a short term goal of finishing every level but a long term goal of defeating the final boss. Note that to finish a level you must pick up every yellow start in the level. But there are many ways the game is trying to stop you. Luckily you have infinite lives the bad news is the checkpoints are spaced a little ways apart so you will be replaying levels. This is a simple one button game and you use the button to drive forward. Then you sort of direct your bike where you want it to go by positioning the mouse pointer. It all sounds so easy, and I'm not going to lie, controlling this bike is wonky. But that's the point, you never have full control and it takes some skill to get it right. If you want a game to have precise controls then Dust Devil isn't for you. That said, I never found the game to be unplayable. Overall, Dust Devil is a blast! As I have come to expect from this developer. I enjoy the imprecise nature of Dust Devil and am always up to a challenge.
A good game to play not only with a mouse, but also with a graphic tablet or a Steam controller
Extremely fast-paced brutal gameplay, but you can't stop playing
Motorcycle goes vroom vroom, more motorcycles, motorcycle gang, boom
Full disclosure: I'm friends with the author (though the game was gifted to me by someone else), and I had a chance to play the game when it was being developed. With this in mind: this game has a great dopamine hook, and there's a surprisingly sensible difficulty curve. Toster has a habit of not being gentle with the player at all, and here he's like: "you seem stressed, let me do a foot massage for you... some chocolate? By the way, check out my laser". The game has Brutal Mode for seasoned players who have completed the game on Weak Baby Man Mode, and, as far as I understand, Brutal Mode has the same set of levels as what was intended for the main game while it was in development. I completed it back then, and I prefer the weak baby man mode, it's a lot of fun! If I'm not mistaken, ErCh made music for this, and the track is a banger. Full disclosure: I know this guy as well, so, technically, I'm also very cool. Your life is but a tear on Allah's eyelashes, so buy this game if you don't want the Almighty to blink. Not a threat, just a friendly suggestion, not a threat at all.
Such a blast to play that will make my evenings much more colorful and fun It's just the best racing experience i had in years, and it's a first time when i use my brain so much in a racing game ever! i just wish this game had like as twice as much levels - because it was kinda hard for me on the second one. Dificulty curve would flow nicer.
