The art style is quite unique and the music is also very nice. The expressive characters convey the story themes well, The platforming is quite challenging, and puzzles are used as an effective way to explore key themes. It's a great game so far and I'm loving it!
9/10
Wonderfully expressive characters that convey the story well. The art style is unique and the music is nice. The platform game play is reasonably challenging and the puzzles are used as an effective way to explore the key theme. This has been a good game so far, I've enjoyed it a lot!

A charming puzzle platformer with cute graphics, but a serious theme. You follow the mole rat Tuli's struggle with fitting in the colony and meeting own, sometimes unrealistic, expectations. What's unique about this game is the antagonistic AI companion that will try to make your life difficult, but who you also cannot just leave behind.

I was super excited for this game to release after following the kickstarter for years! The art style is beautiful and I think the way dialogue is expressed is really intriguing. I love love love the focus on depression and social interaction. However, I barely made it into the game before I had to take a break because I was so frustrated. I don't know if the game code I received recently from Kickstarter is an old version or what, but this game is so buggy. After completing the first real level (after the dream), I didn't get the option to move forward in the game. I played level one again but nothing changed. Luckily I was able to find a game-play video on youtube, allowing me to see that my game was bugged and not giving me the "mission" to go to bed to progress the game. Thankfully, going to bed without prompting from the mission allowed me to progress as normal. Outside of that, there were several times when my character got stuck on walls and they constantly fell through platforms. Several times the levels or home world area would just load in black and I would have to restart the level a couple of times to get it to load properly. It finally got to the point that I wasn't sure if I was legitimately having trouble getting past level 2, or if there was a bug or finicky control preventing me from completing a puzzle. I will try playing again when its not 90 degrees F in my house and I'm not so frustrated. I still recommend this game, as I still really want to support the devs and their work, and I'm not sure if my game matches the one being sold on steam.
What a charming game! I'm intrigued by the idea of making a game about depression with a character, that is following you around and actually keeping you from doing stuff. I enjoyed the world and the characters as much as the gameplay. Just be aware, that the AI isn't always doing what you want - just like the game intended ;)
Duru is a really unique game. Jump and run with puzzles isn't new, but adding important themes like depression to such a game in this way is a great idea. In some places you have to be a bit more skillful, in others you have to strain your grey matter a bit for the puzzles. The mechanic of creating objects by painting them and then being able to interact with them - and for many situations having to - is fun and sometimes a little tricky because you only have a certain amount of paint. I really like the speech bubble pictures because sometimes those pictures say so much more than a short text could. ...and the music is really catchy. I really like it.
I bought the game because it was recommended to me and i really liked the art style and i dont regret it one bit! I love how the music, the art and the story somehow perfectly fit together and creaty a cozy and somehow dreamy vibe. I also really like that the dialogues are not written as text but conveyed with pictures. At the beginning i was a little bit overwhelmed but i got used to it whithin the first 10 minutes. The pictures are cute and maybe even more expressive than text because i/ the player can interpret so much into it. The gameplay itself is fun; it has action but gladly no time pressure. So i can take my time to find out how to beat that annoying black ai mole rat. I think with the ai mole rat the creators found a very good way to make the game harder but not to much, because in the end its not as agile as the player and can be tricked easily. The first few levels were very fun and im curious how far i can go without getting stuck! ^-^
