First of all, I got this on sale and don't want a refund because the art is really cute and I personally feel like its at least worth what I paid for it. I HATE this game for me though. I like female protag games and this a male protagonist with no switch option! I found it with the female protag hashtag which has me out of sorts because that is NOT the case. For people that like male protagonists there are a lot of fun scenes and interesting things within this game but to flat out imply or lie about there being 2 characters to play in the description is messed up. They have acknowledged this from other players and have not changed the description to fix it(at least at the time of writing this) and are instead talking about having a DLC later? The sandbox is also ok, but like I said earlier, if there was a female protag option I'd 100% recommend but as it is now I can't play it. I've played male protag games before having known what I was getting into and would have explored that option a bit had it been known prior. I'm extremely frustrated over this because the characters are so cute and I just got crushed. I should have looked more into the game's descriptions and discussions before buying it.
So far a brilliant game. Obviously in early access, yet as far as i can tell the only short coming is content. What it has so far is good base that just needs more. The story has you replaying to learn more about the characters and lore. The scenarios are engaging and have you interested in the plot. And the H scenes are entertaining and well animated. The big complaints that are voiced can be fixed with MORE. The infamous event that has most of the community bothered does not need to be changed, just MORE plot or circumstance need to be added. (spoiler)
late game if you do not let the Sorceress milk you the Saint gets the tavern to run a train on her.
The main complaint is it feels out of place as is. If more plot
such as the Saintes getting visually sexually frustrated
was added it would make the event feel more organic. Or if alternative scenes based on your bond
with the Saint
where added it would feel less forced. Personally I have only two criticisms to add. " This is an Early Access game and this content may already be in the works." is more diversity in the lesbian and futa aspects. so far only the Sorceress and the Saint have an interaction. And my final criticism. While the game is tagged as corruption it definitely succeeds. It has a NTR or Cuckold tag that the current story severely lacks. A dream event, some implied scenarios that are quickly explained, and
the infamous train event
are the only NTR that is present. TLDR. Good game needs more.
This game plays like a delightful running gag, wonderfully reminiscent of the Derpixon video, The Cursed Prince. It's pure fun with pretty good voice acting thrown in. Replayable too if you want to see more scenes. Your time per playthrough is too limited to explore all the possible gals in one go.
No lead up, total debutchery. You play as a paladin who must protect his values or he and the cleric he protects will fall into the debutchery themselves (but that's not really so bad once you get to know everyone). Male protag who swings both ways. This game has a lot of sloppy elements common for adult games, but for this one it is mostly technical issues. Some overstreched sprites, broken animations, and the like. That said, there is a lot of effort and love that goes into the characters and animation. Wow, there is a lot of high effort Live2D animation. And while the monsters come of as crude at first, you get to know each one to have a surpising amount of depth as you talk with them. The protag is such a smeghead. Least likable character in the game. Having seen what this game has to offer, I'd be happy to pay more than the base game price for the chance to play it through Celeste's point of view. I like that she never puts up with Perceval's nonsence. I'd love to see that tension happen from the other side.
Can you provide a Chinese version? Can the author give a response?
So, this is a good, fun, neat little game. For old timers of this genre some might remember " Dusty's Castle" This is that but more developed. and a little less mystery and interaction with the environment ( actually in story mode there is very little to interact with ) Down side is the story is very confusing and "hanging out" never follows the plot nor the relationships you make until the end. One moment your " kissing" said individual who wont be mentioned for spoilers, the next they want to get railed by an ogre. But other then that its a decent little game that has some polishing to be done.
Kinda short and mostly one on one animations but is well polished for the most part and fun. Solid base and definitely something that could be expanded into something really great. Worth it.
This game is surprisingly quite good. I don't expect a super deep narrative from this type of game, and yet there's a surprising amount of depth to the story and characters that really drew me in. Granted for as much as the writing is solid, it's the voice cast that really brings it to life. I found the characters relatable and interesting, and there was a plot I was invested enough in to keep clicking, reading, and listening even past the NSFW scenes. I thought I was buying this to just enjoy some bisexual fun (an unfortunate rarity in NSFW games), but I ended up getting more from it than that, and that's more than enough to make it worthy of a recommendation in my book. And for $10 or less at that? Absolutely no complaints, if anything given the quality of the voice work I would've easily paid more (not a ton more, but definitely more). If I have any complaints, it's just that the game is a bit unpolished. The auto button is a bit buggy (sometimes locking me out of advancing dialogue at all - even manually - until I toggle it off and then back on again) and there's no way to control the speed at which it advances dialogue, which causes issues with one line finishing only to them immediately start playing the next one which sounds unnatural. I hope the developers fix this and add other basic VN features like text speed, auto speed, the ability to replay voice lines in the text log, etc in the future.
Dungeon Tavern, developed by Wallimog & Friends and published by TinyHat Studios, is a narrative-driven interactive experience that blends elements of visual novels, sandbox storytelling, and character-focused exploration. Instead of presenting players with a traditional fantasy adventure full of heroic quests and epic battles, the game deliberately subverts those expectations by placing its protagonists in a far more unusual situation. Two inexperienced adventurers set out on what they believe will be a grand quest to defeat a demon king, but their journey quickly goes wrong when they are captured and brought to a mysterious tavern located deep within monster territory. From that moment onward, the story shifts away from traditional combat and instead focuses on the strange and unpredictable social environment inside Darkwood Tavern. The central premise revolves around the protagonists learning to navigate life inside the tavern, a place inhabited by monsters, unusual patrons, and eccentric characters who operate according to their own rules. Rather than being imprisoned in the conventional sense, the characters find themselves in a situation where survival depends more on communication, relationships, and adaptability than on brute strength. The tavern itself becomes the main stage for the entire story, acting as both a social hub and a narrative sandbox where events unfold based on the choices players make. Through conversations and interactions with the tavern’s inhabitants, the player gradually uncovers more about the strange world surrounding them and the motivations of the creatures who reside there. Gameplay in Dungeon Tavern is primarily driven by dialogue and player decisions. Players guide the protagonists through conversations, interactions, and situational choices that influence how the story develops. The game does not rely heavily on traditional mechanics like combat or complex puzzles. Instead, the focus lies on shaping relationships with the various characters encountered throughout the tavern. These interactions form the foundation of the game’s branching narrative structure, allowing the story to evolve in multiple directions depending on the player’s choices. Some decisions may strengthen bonds with certain characters, while others might lead to conflict or unexpected outcomes. One of the defining aspects of the game is its sandbox-like storytelling approach. Rather than presenting a strictly linear narrative, Dungeon Tavern allows players to explore different interactions and experiment with various dialogue options to see how the characters respond. This design encourages replayability, as each playthrough can reveal different scenes, character developments, and story outcomes. By approaching situations in new ways, players can discover alternative narrative paths and uncover moments that may have been missed during previous runs. The characters who inhabit the tavern play a major role in shaping the experience. Each monster or patron has a distinct personality and attitude, ranging from mischievous and playful to intimidating or mysterious. These characters often react dynamically to the player’s behavior, creating a sense that the tavern is a living social environment rather than a static setting. The relationships formed with these characters influence how the story unfolds and can lead to different endings depending on the choices made throughout the game. Visually, Dungeon Tavern adopts a colorful 2D cartoon-inspired art style that contrasts with the darker implications of its premise. The characters are designed with exaggerated features and expressive animations that emphasize their personalities and make each interaction feel lively. Despite the limited number of environments, the tavern itself is depicted with enough detail to create a distinct atmosphere that feels both cozy and slightly unsettling. This visual style helps reinforce the game’s tone, balancing humor and fantasy elements with moments of tension or intrigue. The game also includes animated scenes and voice work in key moments, which adds extra personality to the characters and highlights important narrative events. These sequences help break up the dialogue-driven structure and provide visual emphasis during particularly significant scenes. While the overall production values remain modest, the combination of animation and voice acting helps make the story feel more engaging. However, the game’s heavy focus on narrative interaction also highlights some of its limitations. Because the gameplay revolves almost entirely around dialogue choices and character interactions, players looking for deeper mechanics or more traditional gameplay systems may find the experience somewhat limited. There are no large-scale exploration segments or complex gameplay systems to master, and the story itself can be completed relatively quickly depending on the choices made during a playthrough. The relatively short runtime means that the game functions more like an interactive story than a full-length simulation or adventure title. Nevertheless, the branching narrative design encourages players to revisit the tavern and explore different choices in order to experience alternate outcomes. Each decision has the potential to reveal new scenes, relationships, or story developments, which adds value for players interested in discovering every possible narrative path. Despite its simplicity, Dungeon Tavern succeeds in delivering a unique concept within the fantasy genre. By focusing on social dynamics and character-driven storytelling rather than combat or exploration, it offers a refreshing alternative to traditional fantasy games. The unusual premise of two adventurers trapped in a monster-run tavern creates a setting filled with humor, tension, and unpredictable situations that keep the narrative engaging. Overall, Dungeon Tavern is a quirky and character-focused indie game that prioritizes storytelling and player choice over mechanical complexity. Its colorful art style, unusual setting, and branching narrative structure make it a memorable experience for players who enjoy interactive stories and visual novel-style gameplay. While it may not appeal to those seeking deep gameplay systems or lengthy adventures, it offers a distinctive and entertaining narrative journey that stands out through its originality and charm.
