Hey, I think this is a really great little game with a lot of potential! With some more development, it could turn into something truly amazing. It has that freelancer sort of vibe but set in the desert and bit untapped and not fully polished yet. Sadly, it seems like it might be a dead game now, but I’d love to see it get some love and more updates someday!
Altho I havent played for long I find this as a fun start of a game. Needs a saving system.
A fun little game but there is a major bug. The screen does not properly resize. I have an odd screensize (square) and while there are the usual options, it doesn't actually resize the ingame screen to match the screensize I set. Thus when I open certain menus they appear outside of the screenspace, and many boxes that appear onscreen overlap. It means I cannot actually play the game. I also agree with another commenter that the way you control the ship feels wrong. Wind or another semi-automatic movement type would have made more sense in my opinion - because it does feel like you are driving a car not a wind-powered ship.

Dune Strider Positives: + Ok idea + Acceptable graphics + Ok sounds and music + Mini-world to explore + Collectibles + Abilities and upgrades + Its free Negatives: - No save game or checkpoints (big mistake!) - No in game map (why?) - Unfair battles with enemies - No difficulty levels to choose from - Would be better if the game was in third person view instead of birds eye view - You run into places where you cant see your ship or where you are going (and youll most likely end up stuck) - If you quit the game, you have to start all over - Severe bugs (some are gamebreaking) - If you get stuck (which can happen in almost every mountain wall and obstacles) you must start all over - No reset or unstuck function - When you defeat the final boss worm (which will sometimes cheat out of the arena where you cant shoot him) nothing happens, no quest complete, no credits or proper ending - Its limited how long you want to play when there are so many bugs and no savegame system Well there are some good ideas here, like the desert ships with exploration for collectibles, upgrades and abilities. But its got serious bugs, no savegame and no map. So if all the problems were fixed, this could have been a decent game. For now its an unfinished early access game. Total Score: 4.5/10
The game looks amazing and the soundtrack (the one track it has) is very nice. The setting could be very interesting , as well. This could be one gem of a game. BUT! The huge downside and the one flaw that keeps me from playing it, is : THERE IS NO SAVE FUNCTION! So unless you keep your game running forever you will have to restart again and again, never really getting to enjoy your upgrades. Can't recommend ( even though it is free) 1/ 10 ( Would be 7/10 with basic save funvtion)
TLDR: a short, atmospheric game of exploring a desert, but unfortunately somewhat frustrating and not that deep. It may be worth getting if you have a couple of hours to kill, but has limited replayability. This is one of those games where I wish I could give a neutral rating. I really like the art design (the stylized visuals, in particular), and enjoyed exploring the corners of the (surprisingly varied) desert map. Besides exploration there are also trading, upgrading, and combat mechanics to play with, all of them with more detail than you would expect from such a short game. However, neither combat nor trading is very developed, and the desert map can be fully explored in an hour. Frustratingly, the game also lacks 1) a save game system (there’s not even an auto-save!); and 2) an unstuck command. Getting your vehicle stuck will therefore force you to start a new game; and this happened to me multiple times at the ramp leading to the final objective. Tip for new players: press T to furl your sail, and use this to enter the temple slowly. Overall, the game feels like a concept demonstrator: the basic idea is there, but the developers still need to add a story, questlines, more than one type of enemy, and substantially more area to explore. Which is not surprising: this is actually a student project of Breda University. And, as another reviewer wrote, if I were grading this as a teacher, it would be a B+ at least. The art design is excellent, the gameplay (mostly) works and the mechanics have a lot of potential. I would like to see an expanded version of this. But as a game reviewer: it is, at best, a demo for a game that will never get made. Fun for an hour or maybe three, but not deep or varied enough to invite replays.
Dunno how to review but game keeps getting stuck on rock and not moving whatsoever
El juego esta muy bien lo unico mal es que no puedas guarda el progreso, bueno el juego ya es corto de por si. Pero no quita el hecho de que tiene fallas notables. Aun asi el juego esta bien su historia y sus combates me parecen muy entretenidos :D
I think there was a good idea here but progress cannot be saved. I wanted to save and keep going but no save in 2022/2025 is insane
