"Duckles: the Jigsaw Witch" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. And it's bad, oh so incredibly bad. I've played and reviewed well over 12,000 games on Steam, more games than anyone else on the planet, so it's quite an accolade for this game to achieve to be considered once of the worst I've ever played. And there's been some stiff competition. This is a kind of godawful puzzle platformer thing that's supposed to be "16 bit retro" but looks more like a 5 bit non-euclidean Lovecraftesque horror. Like, you know sometimes things are just bad, amateurish, you point and laugh and move on? This is so bad that playing it, even thinking about it could cause severe psychological damage. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. To make matters worse, while lazy, low quality pixel "art" has been used, making the game look bad, many elements of the game aren't done with pixelcrap... which accomplishes a couple of things. First, it shows the developers perhaps could have done better and they knew it, so that's a major screwup. Secondly, it destroys any hopes the developer had of creating a "retro aesthetic" as their excuse for the lazy pixelart compromise... It looks completely inauthentic from a retro gaming perspective. Visually, this is a hamfisted mess, a dogs breakfast of bad visuals, and this kind of laziness and poor quality should never be foisted on gamers. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. We can say with great certainty that this game is not an asset flip. This is because the assets are of such poor quality that no self respecting asset creator or artist would publish them under any circumstances. Certainly, nobody likes to see asset recycling, stock assets are intended to be used as placeholders until superior assets can be created by the developer, but when we get what's worse than either stock assets being flipped or professional assets, it's a reason for gamers to go out of their way to avoid the product. The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the display resolution caps out at around 1440p, there's no support for the state-of-the-art 4K or higher resolutions. The game doesn't even frame or scale properly up to 1440p, with gaps around the edges of the screen. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers. Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying sound/background music or incredibly bad voice acting, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop it using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, around the same time that trading cards were applied to the game... so this is just card idlers getting their cards and moving on. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? "Duckles: the Jigsaw Witch" has the ridiculous price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "X-Com: Enemy Unknown", "Left 4 Dead 2" or "Mad Max". No pixelcrap is worth $5. If developers want to get paid the same kind of money as real game developers who know how to do graphics properly, they need to learn how to do graphics properly. But, kudos to the developers for creating something that's even worse than a Russian asset flip. That takes talent. I hope they never use a computer again. Perhaps a career in fast food service?
I'm not sure how this game works...

这游戏细腻的画面贼带感,不入不是人。
Very nice game
Duckles: the Jigsaw Witch
Nota: 0/10
Loving this game so far... It's very bizarre, but in a wonderful way
the controls are way too slippery on keyboard, the voice acting is awful, the story is worse. none of which the trailers do an adequate job of warning you about. if it were just the goofy art and overtop sfx i would love this game but it drops the ball literally everywhere else.
喜加一,还能挂卡,这有什么好说的。
